Official Air Jordan XX9 post! 1st two released 9/6/14! NO BUYING/SELLING/TRADING!

As far as I can remember all new Jordan~era models dropped Mid Season (NBA Season that is) through the VIII...I think it was the IX that started dropping in the fall...The VIII and the IX both premiered in 93' if my recollection is correct...This was likely due to Nike wanting to put out the new model Jordan as soon as possible following MJ's first retirement announcement...The X, which really wasn't supposed to even release save for Tinker pushing to get them out as a celebration shoe to honor MJ's career, followed suite and was intended to be last of the Jordan line...XI, XII, XIII, and XVI all just stuck with this trend...

All Jordan~era models from the IX dropped in the fall...

Can't really comment on models that released after MJ retired for the second time including when he played for the Wizards...

EDIT~

blco is right...I do remember the XVI dropping around All Star Weekend...

So X, XI, XII, XIII were all fall releases with the XVI resetting to the original NBA Mid-Season release...

My info is never random and always accurate...

I am telling you facts...you are speculating...

Things change...

The FACTS are that the Jordan 29 will NOT be releasing in Feb 2014...that's why they are FACTS...

Prove you wrong? You're one of "those people", eh?

JM

Great info! Thats why they are pushing more 28 SE's in 2014. Glad to hear because I need some SE's.

I remember this from when I was a kid. When did this change? Which model?

To be exact they came out in the fall sporadically for only about 8 years of the 28 releases (if you generally consider fall Late Sep Into mid Dec).

AJ 1&2 Sep/Nov
AJ 3-8 were Feb
AJ 9-13 Nov
AJ 14 oct
AJ 15 Dec
AJ 16-18 feb
AJ 19 Mar
AJ 20 - 22 Feb
AJ 21 Jan
AJ 22-28 Feb

29 comes out in 2014...

30 comes out in 2015...

The new Air Jordan came out in the Fall (the beginning of Basketball season) for many years...

XX8 was obviously a "reset" for the Air Jordan...29 will be another one...and, I would expect something revolutionary for the 30...

JM

I know what u mean. Nevertheless. This means we have a gap of 1,5 year between the initial release of the xx8 (black/electric greens and limes) and the xx9.
Most air jordans were usually introduced in q4 like the air jordan 11 - 15 (mostly end of october, though aj12 was mid November and aj 15 in december).
Then from aj 16 on it was set on February.
I really hope that the xx9 will be great shoe and are made more durable than the xx8.

Not trying start anything here. I speak for myself and don't mean to offend anyone or their taste in hoop sneakers. But I for one, am tired of the "revolutionary" stuff on the new releases. EVERYTHING SINCE THE XX1 HAS BEEN AESTHETICALLY DISPLEASESING (before you guys go all ape s*** on me, remember this my opinion)  How about for the triple X (yeah, I said that) we get something that is a true retro. A whole new design with an old feel and new technology.  Something that looks old (by that I mean stylish i.e. 3-13) but is totally new.

Why keep putting out shoes that we can't even imagine MJ playing in? You guys are lying if you say that you could see Michael on court in a pair of them 2012 joints

I agree that most post xx1s have been quite ugly but there have some good ones. The xx3 was nice, as is the xx8. The xx2 was lame but nowhere near as lame as  the ones  with the circle. WTF was that about? 2011s  were just bland, nothing special and certainly not worthy of a Jordan.

The XXX should be special

Unless they chicken out and call it the 30 or the xx10

1. You seem not to know mjs taste. When many people saw the aj 11 in 1995 nba playoffs worn by mj, most people said they look gay (no offense to any homosexuals, but that was often mentioned) because of the black patent and back then it was very unusual to incorporate patent in an athletic shoe.

When the aj 13 debuted many were calling them monster feet.

But in the end, both models became very popular and successful, when people getting used to see them on mjs feet and more and more people wore them offcourt.

2. The aj 2012 aren't that bad looking jordans imo. I love my white/black-white highs and wear them casually.

3. Im 100% sure the 2012 would have sold much better if mj would wear them in his nba player career.

Remember how weak the sales of the aj 9 was, aj 10 until mj came back.
Aj 14s sales were lower than the previous jordans again as mj retired for the 2nd time and not everyone was aware thst mj wore the aj 14 three times in the 1998 nba finals (game 3, 4 and 6).

Look, I know there's a ton of hate toward the 2010's, and I was in that camp...until I got a pair. They are THE BEST J's I've ever played in, and I've literally destroyed multiple sigs because of play--12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 2011, 2012. The XX*8's forefoot zoom recently blew on me after FOUR WEARS. The 2010's really are sooooo underrated. I'd love to see JB come back with the bottom-loaded zoom. At the end of the day I think it's better than the current pro-plate.

Everything you said is true. I'm 31. I remember the glory years. And I personally thought every Air Jordan from the XII-XIV were terrible when I first saw them. It also didn't help that in the '90s people weren't as fashion savvy as they are now when it comes to street clothes. What does this have to with anything? I used to think XIVs were the sorriest sneaker of all time until the first retro run when people where rocking them with outfits that made the shoe stand out. Like seeing a pair of Taxis worn with a black/white letterman (varsity jacket), as opposed to baggy jeans and a puff coat ('a la 1997) What you wear with the shoes makes a world of difference.

With the sigs, post XX1, it doesn't matter what you wear with them. They are just not stylish. It seems like they just lost incentive to make the new shoes have any off court appeal once the retros became the dominate sellers. It was like they said "ok, you buy these to play ball in, and get the old sigs for casual wear".

As for the concords, I have very little memory of this shoe outside Jordan playing in them. I only saw a few people actually wearing them, but somehow the unpopularity of this colorway in '95 is attributed to the whole model at that time. Nothing is father from the truth. The Varsity red colorway was so popular that IT IS THE ONLY JORDAN OF THAT ERA THAT I REMEMBER PEOPLE STILL  PROULDY WEARING EVEN AFTER THE NEW AIR JORDAN HAD BEEN RELEASED.

And I'm not bashing the XX3 by putting it in the same category as a the rest of the lackluster releases, but the shoe just look awkward with casual wear to me. They are an improvement compared to many of the others though.

All I'm trying to say is: The Air Jordan is the sig that started all. It wasn't the first signature sneaker, but it was the first one that was a phenomenon. Never before had a "tennis shoe" been a status symbol. They represented STYLE as well as performance technology. Now that's all a thing of the past.

I have little hope for XX9, but for the thirtieth anniversary they should take it back to what made us fall in love with the shoe to begin with.

Sorry about the long *** post.

Can not wait to see what is in store for us with the xx9, I hope it stays moving in the direction of the xx8 but as was stated above... would not mind the incorporation of some premium materials. Like maybe some nice Italian leather like we all remember.

Sneakernews.com just stated:

- Jordan Brand gave the Air Jordan XX8 a two-year cycle (the SE model would serve as the representative for the 2013-2014 season).
- With the highly prized Flight Plate being touted as one of the best comfort techs in sneaker history, expect an advanced version
- If the Air Jordan XX8 launch is any indication, expect the Air Jordan 29 to debut in late 2014 and hit retail in early 2015

Really hit retail in 2015?? That would suck

totally agree the XX1 was the last good sig. only thing worth mentioning is the 2010 but the window was not good on those. idk why it has become so hard for JB to create solid new shoes. jordans were always so special because they were simple, yet they always looked surprisingly ahead of their time. that got lost somewhere along the road now they just look like and use the same materials as most other nike shoes on the market at the time.

?? How so?? Nike uses flight plate snd unlocked zoom?

Il give you the fact the signature line has suffered but the xx8 woke up a sleeping giant. I just hope this gets things back on track.

I'm hoping the xx9s have better colorways than the xx8s. Some of the best ones were either PEs or samples that JB was trolling us with

true. i WAS waiting for the bamboos and the lakers, if i had kept that up i wouldn't have picked up any.
