Avonte Oquendo, missing New York City autistic teen UPDATE: RIP, remains confirmed as him

I really don't want to believe that this is some sort of sick coincidence. What are the chances that he wanders out of school into the arms of a psychopath? I feel like he was lured out of school somehow.
Found him in a different pair of underwear

That should raise eyebrows
I think someone close to him had something to do with it. The odds of an autistic child wandering out of his school and being found by a psyco before a decent human being are just too small for me to believe it. However it happened, I hope they find the killer and pay him back ten-fold. This is the kind of sad and gruesome story you'd think you'd only see on TV in this day and age smh. RIP Avonte.

Eracism is right in that drowning is one of the top causes of death amongst people with Autism as a result of Autism related wandering, this happens more than y'all think

I will say that **** is weird he had on different underwear tho

Is that what the family is saying? How can anyone remember what draws someone had on three months ago? Sorry, but this thread is the only way I bother keeping up with the developments to this story.

I find the whole him wearing different underwear story more weird than them saying decomp. I know his parents probably dressed up but idk.

I don't see the decomp story being so far fetched. Gone for a week probably died first day drowned plus crazy Ny weather and temp.

I've seen pics and other alerts about this kid for months from BK to Queens :smh:

The sick **** that did this needs to be tortured before they die.

Not that it brings their child back but I hope the family takes that school and Dept of Ed to the bank. The entire way they handled this situation was wrong from the beginning

RIP to the kid, and like you, I hope they sue the **** out of NYC Dept. of Education.

RIP. And my condolences to the family.

I hope they take the department of education to the cleaners. I still cant believe no one saw this kid go out of the building. Problem is most of the teachers in the system are just there for a paycheck and know damn well its near impossible to fire them.

A child with special needs in a special needs school that requires extra attention for the student, somehow leaves with no one seeing a thing. Pathetic. :smh:

damn this really hurts my heart I have a 23 year old brother with autism when he was around his age he would always sneak out the house thank god nothing happen to him my heart goes out to this family :frown:

RIP to the kid

I was in NYC mid october. I saw a million pic alerts. It's a shame nobody found him.

The thought of psycopath luring him out of school and the changed underwear. this **** can't be real (i wish... but i know it can be with the sick world we live in :smh: )

prayers to the family.

Omg my heart sank when I heard they found him on sat I'd couldn't even finishing reading the news my heart goes out to that family rip little man

Just trying to make sense of the whole underwear angle, but is it possible that the school changed him at some point before he went missing? I'm hoping that's the case and not anything else...

or got abused in school and that made him run away?

This is pure speculation. don't get mad at me NT.

i read that there was 3 teachers to 10-13 students in that class, how all of them could let a kid with his level of disability out of their sight is
mean.gif

Just saw this on the news. Heartbreaking story. My condolences, go out to the family.

Rest in peace. Avonte Oquendo.
