The official DC Animated movies thread

This dope.

The movie was very meh unfortunately
I watched it last night and LOVED it! I grew up watching batman the animated series and it was basically re-living my childhood. To hear Mark's voice as joker was so awesome and spine tingling. However I'm not invested in comic books at all (only the movies) and I could see why there was some backlash from comi-con viewers because they are heavily into that life. I've read the book so I knew from the start the beginning was an added part. I will admit the only part i didn't like was the shipping of Babs and Batman, he's always been the father figure in her life he always looked out for her as sort of a second father not a love interest. But once you look past that and get into the real store its amazing!

I don't read comics, but that's not stopped me from liking almost all of the DC animated films I've seen. The Killing Joke was very subpar though 4/8.

Making it a film made it more slow and psychological in a way, action wasn't a priority and was more about delving deep inside the Joker.

For that reason, I can see why many may not like it in comparison to the other films that was more fast paced and action-packed.

The most action in the film was Batgirls part and even that felt like it dragged in the beginning.

WOW

The whole logic of the Joker about him being "mad" and trying to prove it, was well written.

In the end, the notion of reality for both Bat and Joke were met.

I took the joke, that even Batman had to laugh, was a way of providing an understanding of their relationship.

This is also one of the worst expeirence I've had watching it in theater with other fans.

People just clapped and cheered from every little thing that I could not hear the dialogue for a bit and really killed the mood of the movie for me.

Like why the f' cheer when Bats says Batgirl isn't on his level? And why cheer longer than a second on it? Just annoyed the hell out of me since it happened on what seemed like every 5-10 minutes.

Can we talk spoilers? I felt the ending of the film and the ending of the novel felt different even though it was written the same..

People are way overreacting to the Batgirl stuff. I thought it worked well. The article posted about how it was a disaster didn't even watch the movie and it showed.

I could see complaints due to the pacing and lack of action though.

We must've been in the same theater..

It was packed when I went and of course I had to sit next to the obnoxious couple who sworn their relationship was exactly like Batman and Batgirl.. and when batman and Batgirl was arguing.. The obnoxious couple was arguing..

And the ending..

Everybody started clapping and then people screamed "they can't end the movie like this?" And then the theater started to boo'd..

By then I'm already out of the door..

I'm not understanding why people are shocked about the ending?

That's the way the comic ended it.

Then on top of that, the origin of Oracle was shown afterwards

People just wanted it to go on and on and on

I read the novel back in the day and I feel like the comics insinuated that Batman killed the joker at the end of the joke.. With joker laughing then batman laughing then both of them laughing and then batman getting the last laugh.. Hence the name: The Killing Joke

However in the movie it just insinuated that both of them were just having a good laugh at the joke..

I need to re-read the novel again for clarification..

Damn. This is why I love going to the Alamo Drafthouse. No talking rule and no lateness is heavily enforced. :smokin

It felt different than the novel, for sure, but I enjoyed it. I didn't mind the Batgirl thing. Hamill killed is as usual.

Was NOT pleased with the DVD-extras part before the actual movie, don't nobody care about that :rolleyes

Yeah I didn't get that at the end of the novel...I got just how the movie portrayed it

Did you get from the novel that Batman was trying to save the joker like in the movie?

By way of the author, Alan Moore, Batman did not kill the Joker at the end

That wasn't even his intention or the artist's.

A few years ago Grant Morrison spread this rumor in an interview and as usual Moore had to set him straight and insult the **** out of him for again being obsessed with him.
