Calvin Johnson: Greatest WR of All Time Discussion

By all means you can bump it. That part is completely fair.

But to act like the conversation is over when he gets a 150 and 2 TD game hasn't happened.

But suddenly the conversation is over when he has a 2 drop game?

That's a big difference.

Don't worry, kids. Your childhood hero is still the greatest ever...for now.

One primetime game is all it takes to puff out chests these days. :smh:
So it is ok to bump this thread when Calvin has a great game, but not ok to do the same when he has a forgettable/bad game. Got it.

What you quoting me for like I'm the culprit? Defensive maneuver, dland.

People can bump threads all they want and when they want. I had nothing to do with that on either occassion. The focus should not be game to game stats, but the longetivity of what is being built.

And the tones of those quick to discredit the argument off one game is completely different.

I quoted you mainly because of the "one primetime game is all it takes to puff out chests these days" comment.  To say you had nothing to do with that is not accurate.  No, you weren't the one who started all this, but you certainly were instigating it with said comment.

How is someone making a comment after Calvin's bad game any different than someone making a comment after Calvin's good game?  It has nothing to do with being "defensive" about Jerry or anything of that sort.  It has to do with the fact that you reacted to people calling out Calvin's bad game, while not doing anything of the sort when people make comments after a good game.

Thats all.  Carry on.

So?

Sounds like you're looking for an argument to me. You want me to go on a tangent just to explain a comment I made and also equating no response to a bump in Calvin's favor as my vote of support. This is silly. For real.

The difference is that the bad game is an exception to the rule and rarely rarely ever happens. So, to say, "welp, this settles it," is ridiculous. Especially when Jerry has had the dropsies in his career too.

Sorry bro.  In no way was my intention to try and pick a fight.  I just find it hilarious people can make GOAT comments after a good game, yet its not acceptable to make not-the-GOAT comments after a bad one.

A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS!

61 TD's

1 Playoff game. 12 receptions, 211 yards, 2 TD

Larry Fitzgerald, at 30, is sitting at:

Two years later...

Calvin Johnson, at 30, is sitting at:
670 receptions
10,660 yards
75 TDs

2 playoff games, 17 receptions, 296 yards 2 TD

Larry Fitzgerald, at 32, is sitting at:

Larry Fitzgerald has Ryan Lindley-type QBs throwing to him and Megatron still can't make up ground.

LOOOONG way to go, but how about the pace (which is obviously unsustainable) that ODB is on?

Put this in the Week in Review but I'll post it in here as well

Megatron has always been overrated. Certain people on here have hyped him as the GOAT since Georgia Tech and he has all the tools, build skill you could ever want, just doesn't have that it factor that certain greats (Fitz, Jerry, TO) had. I know teams win games and not individual players, not even QB's but I just never see that extra gear with that guy. Maybe than's penalizing him for making everything look so easy but just my two cents.

That's a hot-take but the fact remains his two most famous plays now involve a non-catch and a fumble. Still has time to change that but I just don't think he has that killer instinct that other great receivers possess.
