Calvin Johnson: Greatest WR of All Time Discussion

What's "killer instinct" from the WR position?

Also, what's the "it" factor from Fitz/TO that separates them from Johnson?

TO wanted the damn ball all the time. Big moments in big games, always ready to put his body on the line.

Fitz had just completely taken over the biggest games of his career and refused to let his team loose with a host of **** QB's.

Smitty plays with an unmatched anger, where he wants to destroy whoever is on him.

Irvin was the leader of the Cowboys dynasty.

Megatron...he just seems like a nice guy. But football is a violent sport and one where a warlike mentality is a good thing and he just doesn't seem to have that to me. This isn't quantifiable stuff I'm obviously arguing so in essence its a little ********, but its just how I view things from my couch. And this isn't a knock on him, it's just when there is an 11 page thread calling him the GOAT, this stuff kind of matters.

There is also a good chance that Megatron has had his career ruined by Matthew Stafford, who may in fact just be a horrible QB that has been lucky to have Calvin. I'm open to that idea.

Those CJ and Fitz stats just make me shake my head that Andre Johnson never had a legit QB

Fitz has the nice guy rep too, he just has had big/special moments.

Dolphins made a thread about a guy being the the Greatest WR of all-time but says its yapping when I point out the two biggest plays of his career are a drop and a fumble. Can't be the greatest if that's the case.

So in your opinion...out of all of the guys who you feel are clearly ahead of Johnson (not counting Rice...who, IMO, is the undisputed GOAT), what are the signature plays of their careers?

Yea...Johnson only has 2 playoff games under his belt, but if I remember correctly, he beasted in one of them.

Overall, I'd like to see what the Lions could do with a stronger team and with a major down year from the Packers.

That says more about the Texans futility at QB though . Andre would've put up ridiculous numbers with good QB's

I mean how much more better would he have done? 2009 was one of the greatest WR single seasons in the past 20 years, maybe ever and he didn't need a HOF caliber QB to achieve that.

For one,he would've actually had a season with double digit TD's . He had the talent to get over 100. I really do think his stats would be a lot crazier if he had played with an elite QB at one point.

playing with a hof qb increases would probably increase the td numbers

Exactly. Even during Schaub's peak, he wasn't a guy you'd straight up say "we need you to go win a game for us", even when people pulled out his "game winning drive" stats. Those stats weren't much different from the ones that proved the Texans had a very good defense in 2013. They went 2-14 that year. Kurt Warner did a lot for Fitzgerald and the Cards in general.

Ive always ceded the TD numbers but Andre Johnson at his peak was 110 catches & 1500 yards and this was pretty much 5 or 6 seasons. That's like Jerry Rice level good.

Hard to imagine he'd be even better than that with a Peyton or a Brady.

Would've had 170 catches and 2350 yards, leading to way more TDs cause he would've been catching the ball in stride instead of having to slow down for it.
