Ehhhhhhh, not sure it matters the coverage when it comes to Stafford and Calvin.

how much better does CJ81 make Stafford? how much credit does Jerry get for Joe? that whole debate has a lot of if's and assumptions. but i think it's safe to say that one of those QBs without their receiver is nowhere near the same player.

i think it's too early to call CJ81 the GOAT WR because durability is certainly a factor and he has yet play as much ball as Jerry has. i would say if he does play as long, he'll catch Jerry statistically in most categories. physically he's the most dominant, no question. can he perform at this level as long as jerry did, that'll be the question.

i think when it comes to Joe and Jerry...people are scared to even consider the fact that someone else might play the position better. people grew up idolizing these two and will do anything to justify their spots at GOAT at their positions. not saying it isn't true, but people are scared to even have the conversation.

No. QB's were Randy dependent. Cunningham just saunters back into the NFL well past his last meaningful season and having sat out a year or so and walks into what turned out to be one of the greatest offenses of all-time?...Randy!

Jeff George...Jeff frickin' George quarterbacked a playoff Vikings team and yet another explosive offense...Randy

Daunte Culpepper...Only had one good year in which he didn't have Randy. For the most part, he's been a bust of what people thought he'd turn out to be. Without Randy he wilted.

Oakland he dealt with nagging injuries...Just lost years.

No one believe Brady could throw deep until Randy showed up. He ushered in the new era Brady. Brady is an all-time great himself so it's silly to say Randy made Brady, but he defiinitely helped change the outlook on Tom's capabilities.

Randy was the playmaker on two teams that both ended the year as the most profilic scoring offenses in NFL history. Coincidence?
You know...  You're actually right.  Culpepper had a Stafford-esque relationship with Randy.

The Oakland and quitting issues though, I mean I think it's legit when you compare him to Calvin and Rice.

I think Calvin will become at least the 2nd best WR of all-time  behind Rice, but I still think Randy Moss is physically the most talented WR of all time.

Prez, you know how many times CJ got tackled inside the 5 and at the 1 last season? I'm not holding that TD total against him.

Can we still make the emoticons bigger? Because I need a gigantic one for Stafford becoming legendary and making CJ what he is.

randy moss is not physically more gifted than calvin johnson.

This.

He might be slightly faster, that's it.

I have no doubt that Randy Moss was faster than Calvin. I also think he was quicker out of his breaks, and from watching them Moss has better leaping ability too. I see your point though when you take into account that Calvin had a couple more pounds on him than Randy.

What are you basing this leaping ability on?

At the combine Randy put up a 39 inch vertical and Calvin put up a 45 inch

Calvin's character reminds me of Barry, he isn't the one to chase numbers. He would walk away from the game and be content, unlike Rice who was chasing numbers later in his career just like Emmitt Smith. Just my 2 cents though.

I'm starting to think CP set a trap for me with this thread.

:nerd:

Not at all. We have a QB thread, this can be a WR type thread. Calvin and Moss are two of my absolute favorite athletes ever, any sport.

And I haven't even mentioned Dez, AJ, Andre, Wayne, Martin Harvison, Torry Holt, etc.

I'm a Moss fan but CJ is coming for that dude. I love he's humility..far from a "me guy".

I kinda wish Calvin was more of a douchebag.

It it made me like Randy even more.

 i kinda know what you mean. but imo, it makes what he does all the more impressive. he's got a "free to be a douchebag" card in his pocket...but as far as we can tell, he doesn't use it. i respect that.

Calvin has it in him, he has to.

Two of his most ridiculous games have involved the Cowboys the week one of them said something crazy about him.

I watched an interview and dude was like "Dez texted me before the game to talk about it but I didn't know what he was talking about because I don't pay attention to the media" :rolleyes

Sure Calvin, sure you didn't
