i felt bad but i didn't feel THAT bad for darius washington cause i think he did the goose neck after he made the first free throw.

First time seeing the Darius Washington misses (I'm not a college ball follower). That's heartbreaking 
. Almost better if he hit none instead of the 1 and it being that much more pressure to at least tie.
As far as OP's question, it's gotta be either kicker or even missed FG (ala DW). Probably more kicker because that's your ONE job to do.
Completely shanked it.
Can't find a video, but the two Doug Brien misses against the Steelers in 04/05 haunt me to this day.

That Darius Washington shot was something else. I was living in FL at the time and working at CBS SportsLine doing the Statistical data entry for the Top 25 and Conference championships, and that was my game that day. Couldnt believe it. Kept rewinding it, got me sick to my stomach.

Boise State were headed to the national title game with a win vs Nevada and he blew it....twice. Boise needed the stars to align to get a chance at a title game as the previous year they went undefeated and didn't get a shot...make a single , 26 yard, FG which was right in the middle of the field and they are living the dream of any small school, but dude shanked it and then when on to miss another FG in overtime.
I felt really bad for him.
I feel bad for all kickers who are put in that situation tbh...well all of them except the Oregon kicker who missed vs USC and cost the Ducks a trip to the title game....dude is a legend in my eyes

Too soon maybe, but Kawhi Leonard missed free throws in last years NBA Finals...seconds later Ray Allen hits a 3, end of story.
Anderson missing the kick to send the 1998-99 Vikings to the Super Bowl, should have been Randall's year.
The Boise St. kicker and Darius Washington, I thought for sure they were on suicide watch.

In that spurs situation, a few guys missed free throws during that final minute. With that though, despite the missed free throws, lebron and ray Allen still need to make those 3's to tie it. Bosh had to get an offensive rebound to get the ball to ray Allen. The spurs could've intentionally fouled the spurs since they were up 3. Its a ton that went wrong for the spurs in that last minute.
The Gary Anderson situation is crazy though. He hadn't missed a field goal the entire season prior to that attempt to put the falcons away. Sucks because we got cheated of a potential great Super Bowl in Vikings broncos that year.
