Sacramento Kings off-season thread

i just read the kings have 3 potential deals in place for their 8th pick. depending who is available in the draft

 i think that deal is more realistic than signing melo to max deal and a share of viveks co along getting rondo later

Yea i saw that. How nice would it be if they could pull off some sort of trade with Orlando for the 12th pick + Afflalo and then still be able to draft Elfrid Payton

I would rather trade Jason Thompson for a case of Red Bull

Why Josh Smith

Josh Smith is going to make 13.5 million next year :x and has 3 years left of his 4 year $54 million contract he signed

Not the veteran leadership I was hoping for :rolleyes

lol we sure love to overpay for the 4 spot

Way overpaid but if we consider what we have now and compare it to the production we get from our 4s its somewhat acceptable.

Thompson is going for $6.75 mil through '16-'17
Williams has a QO in '15-'16 for $8.7 mil

Smith is $14 mil through '16-'17

At second glance it's not that bad. The question becomes "who would I rather have? Smith at 14 mil or Thompson at 6.75 mil with no production?" The answer has to be Smith no matter how ugly that contract is.

Not a Smith fan at all but in that trade scenario we weren't really giving up much. But i am relieved that it's "dead" now.  I still hold down my gut feeling that Marcus Smart is a King on Thursday

i'm assuming you guys all saw the report that the Kings have 3 trade deals lined up for the #8 pick in case everyone they want is off the board at 8.  There weren't any details on who the teams are though

One trade i would LOVE is for the Kings to get Afflalo and the 12th pick for their 8th pick plus JT and some other guys

I would be in for the 12th + Afflalo.
The Magic have also been trying to both move up and get another lottery pick. They've offered Nos. 4 and 12 and Afflalo to the Cavs and Bucks, but so far, no takers. They've also used Afflalo as bait to get a pick from the Kings at No. 8 and the Nuggets at 11, but so far, no deal.

very interesting.  Makes a lot of sense. Especially since a couple of the guys they are so fond of could still be available at 12
