Lupe Fiasco Drogas Waves out now - Who needs 7 tracks for a great album?

I like this production over "The Cool".

As I said before, for some of the songs, I really agree. But as a complete body of work I think I enjoyed the cool among first few listens more. Maybe more of the other tracks will grow on me.

"The Cool" concept was so unique. The storyline was crazy. But damn this album is a great balance of great beats and crazy lyrics. He put his heart into this project. Lasers , F&L 2..are projects where he clearly wasn't happy. I felt Lasers was forced by the execs. He went rock bottom and became less relevant. People forgot how talented he was. You can tell he wanted to remind people how good he is. I think that Prisioners track was pointed at Atlantic Records.

Agree with everything you said.

If yall think "The Cool" concept was unique, this album will blow your minds... Hint::: Reverse the tracklist, play it in that order, a new story involving My Cool Young History unfolds:::

Never seen ish like this on an album..

Album is a masterpiece.:wow:

Chopper :x :wow:
Yo. Song is so damn hard. Then you listen to the lyrics.:pimp:

Gotta take a day to sit with this album and read along.

And Soul killed his verse on They Resurrect Over New.:pimp:

The abstract lyrics open for interpretation is what makes this album stand out. It really is like art in that sense. However, I think the message and satire in this album will go over many people's heads.

So simple, yet so effective.

Trouble  and Trae went all the way in.

Definitely his best work.

I've always been a huge Lupe Stan, and I can't help but feel like this very well may be his best work. I need to sit with this for about a month...but after these last few days I'm still blown away.

This was way better than I expected from Lupe. The production, beats and lyrics are al there. Probably his best work, I need another couple listens though.

Was on Rap Genius reading along with Adoration, and someone added this (sorry if late):

Why you ready to die? You just a baby
Why them tears up under your eyes? You just a baby
Keep your head up in the sky, you just a baby
Quit chasing money, never mind, you just a baby
(These Magi adore you) x2
Why you wanna be born again? You just a baby
Why you playing in the streets? You just a baby

One interpretation of the hook sees Lupe questioning the choice to spend one’s youth living the fast life and instead encouraging the young to look forward towards a long, prosperous future.

However, if you look at these lines individually, you’ll find that each serves as an allusion to a different classic album with a baby in the cover art:

Ready To Die by The Notorious BIG
Tha Carter III by Lil Wayne
Nothing Was The Same by Drake
Nevermind by Nirvana
Born Again by Black Sabbath
Illmatic by Nas

album is cool. coulda done without Dots & Lines. song is horrible. and I just wish the 2 best tracks on the LP weren't so damn long (Mural & Chopper)

Lupe use to be one of my favorite rappers. he fell off after the cool and haven't really checked for him much since. huge let down with lasers and f&l2.
