Been using the same burner for the past 5 years and finally decided to give in an get an iPhone 4.

1. What's a good reasonably priced case that protects the phone (screen and all)?

2. Any good sites that give an overview so I know how to use it to it's full potential?

3. Must have apps?
This you Op

:smh: so many lames in this thread

Op is prolly pulling mo yambs wit his iPhone 4 then yall wit the 5s

I mean i could still probably understand if it was 4s but 4 tho? my 17 month old daughter uses my 4 as a teether for god sake

I got a laugh from selling corn on the highway lol. Dam. But op if u happy with ya purchase don't listen to these fools so early in the morning. Hit google.

It's possible OP isn't from this country...other parts of the world they're just getting the iphone4. Iphone 4 is still a great first smart phone and to most people it has more than enough bells and whistles. At least he got a iphone and not a blackberry from the same era.

Word. A year ago smartphones in general weren't even that popular here.

I just got my first smartphone a month or 3 ago (iPhone 5).

No diss OP but i think you could have done alittle better in this purchase or atleast give us a little more background to your situation. You know how we roll on NT... M3's, dime Chics and only stacks in the bank ,

Was this your previous phone OP?

This thread gave me some laughs. Yes I understand the 5 is the new one, but the 4 was an upgrade (for me). I just wanted a smartphone. Got a good deal.

No dambs were given when it came to my cell phone until recently. Had nothing to do with being cheap. Not the type of person that needs to sheep it and get the latest greatest technology as soon as it drops.

What are the major advantages of the 5 over the 4 or the 4s over the 4?

I like a guy that can take a joke and handle it n stride.

The differences are sparse to say the least... u did good OP. The 4 will do everything you need it to. The processing power and imagery is whatever comin from a basic phone.

Everything.

And i4's are free bruh lol.. An 8gb 5 is like $99 now on upgrade/new contract if memory serves correctly.

Props to you. :pimp: I bet most of the dudes clowning you are the type to cop the brand new smart phone, the newest J's, and hop on the bus in the morning. :rolleyes

There aren't a whole lot of major advantages to be honest. You have things like AirDrop (wireless file transfer to other iOS7 devices,) Siri (overrated personal assistant app,) and a bigger screen/faster processor. Aside from Siri, AirDrop, and the thumb print unlock for the 5s...there aren't really any major differences. Since you're new to the smartphone world, the difference in speed isn't gonna make a big difference to you and the other features you're missing out on aren't all that great. I had a smartphone up to NT's standards a month ago, broke it, and copped 2 iPhone 4s off of craigslist for like $150. Having used the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 for an extended period of time, you aren't really missing out on much.

For a case, I'd go with something like this. Amazon product ASIN B00A8NXXA8 The caseology cases are pretty cheap and are very durable (I have a bad habit of dropping my phone.) There a lot less overbearing than the Otterbox cases, look a lot more sleek and low profile, and will probably cost you less.

The best way to learn how to use the phone is just trying out everything. Open up every menu, tap through every option, and get a feel for where things are and what you can do with it. There are youtube videos and text guides for just about anything you'd like to do, but the best way to learn is just immersing yourself in it.

As for the apps? There are apps for just about every website and retail store you might visit (Amazon, Youtube, GAP, ESPN, New York Times, etc.) Just open the app store, create an Apple ID, and download a few. If you're on FB/Twitter, get those as well. (@SollloDolllo :nerd:)

Oh, and welcome to having a smartphone. Just don't let it take over your social interactions. I know a few people who recently got a new phone and now they can't even put it down to have a decent conversation.

My 5 seems to be a lot faster than some of my friends who still have a 4. The camera is better too.

Other than that idk.

I'm the type person that knows shows people how to use their tablets, phones and computers while simultaneously living in the stone ages myself. Just wanted to spark up a convo about smartphones and things I might not know about since I'm new to the game. The flaming is all good. I probably deserve it. My friends crack on me all the time ("does that thing even text?")
