!!!The Official Troy Ave thread: Major Without a Deal online and in stores 6/9/15!!!

let the whole cd ride last night & aint have to skip but 1 song. this dude been out for a long time tho i 1st heard of him wit them song bk bk & rep it wit my heart on 106

Like what I heard so far, looks like I been sleeping. I can see the similarities to 50. Now I gotta check his older stuff once I'm done with the album.

I don't really hear the 50 comparisons, maybe the singing. 50 was more aggressive and they rap from a different perspective. I hear more Max B similarities.

Yeah, I agree with 50 being more aggressive and it being different perspectives. Troy sounds more like a regular street dude while 50 was a lot more hardcore, which I'm sure was 50s case in reality lol, but just the song structure, and rhyme schemes remind me a lot more of 50. Honestly it feels blatant to me, like some really studied fif

Album is tough...definitely slept on Troy Ave.

You're in denial if you cannot hear 50 in his flow.

He has a flow like 50. Even uses some of 50s bars on a few songs. Sounds like 50's Power of the Dollar album.

New interview on Breakfast Club with him. It was a good interview. I don't know how to embed it in here.

I mess with this

Got a few joints I **** with on here, this is the first time I heard his music. I saw somebody call him Helium 50

this **** fire, NT sleeping, as usual....

i remember when french was getting slept on like this.

slander with no reason or explaination = hate

start dialogue, WHY do you think he sucks?

After seeing his Breakfast club interview dude was talking wild cash money about how he nice, I went to listen to some of his songs, dudes music sounds like G4 Boyz X Fake Max B X 50 to me. lol dude has no clout to be hated on, his music is just not pleasing to me.

lol when I try to pick out like 10 random songs and they all suck, thats not a good sign.

Probably doesn't help I was never big on the G Unit movement.

well i say all his beats on this sound dope, and he's spitting that ****, and he's got his own NY sound.

his drums are HARD NY drums.

I guess I don't like his delivery/voice, his lyrical content isn't bad its what I`d expect from the type of artist he is. Right now Action Broson got the God Flow/God Sound in NYC to me (even though its borrowed) but lyrically son aint rapping about nothing lol.

This guy sucks to me
Homie has no chill to me...I hear him, but then again I don't hear him.

He's missing something.

I don't know man, Biggie, Wu, Nas, Mobb Deep, a bunch of early to mid 90's NY artist, those dudes kinda put a stamp on what I expect to hear, and what I need to vibe to from a NY cat. That's why I could never rock with ASAP and all these other new NY artists because they pale so much in comparison to the artists that I consider to be the real legends of NY hip hop.

He's using that slurred flow that 50 use to rhyme with when he dropped Guess Who's Back.

to be honest idk what I want from NYC rap. Joey BadA sucks to me because son tries TOO hard to sound like that pre 96 sound and the fact he was born in 1995 is pathetic to me lol. This Troy Ave kid just doesn't make good music to me. The thing a lot of NYC music lacks right now is SOUL. Listen to Nas tracks, old Jay Tracks, Dipset, etc the songs had a soul. I can't explain it but listening to this kid all of his music sounds empty to me. Like yea you made a song but I don't hear anything. Bronson is entertaining even though he is Ghost 2.0.

Like for example Raekwon is still making GREAT songs. I think if cats like Joey stopped trying to make music from an Era they aren't from they could be decent. Being born in the 90s makes you a 2000s kid, you were too young to really see how the 90s were. I was born in the 80s but related to 90s.

That's actually why I like Troy music, I feel it has some soul to it especially this tape. Definitely not on the same level as some of those dudes back in the day when the soulful sound was real heavy, but with everyone using trap beats now a little change is nice

I dont like this dude very much but that "My Style" feat Lloyd Banks is my ****. sounding like 50 in his prime on that :pimp:
