Please consider supporting relief and recovery efforts in the Philippines in the wake of Super Typho

Donated.

Still blows my mind that the Japan thread raised so much money.
Same here I think we as a community can do better than this.

Nonetheless, appreciate all the assist from NT! Mabuhay kayong lahat!!!

#TapTapPullTogether
Remember, the total for the Japan fundraiser included the staff/community donation of $13,000.  The user donations totaled around $7,000, and our traffic was a bit higher back then than it is now.

We're still recovering from that last, nightmarish year on Yuku and the transition to the new host.  The goals for this fundraiser were established with that in mind.  To equal the output from the Japan fundraiser, everyone's going to need to work harder to raise awareness.  The regulars donating alone won't do it.  It'll take a total team effort.

We made our goal! #NT

Let's raise more than our Japan Fundraiser of $20,935!
i think Meth set the goal too low. he should have raised it and would have encouraged more to donate to hit that limit with ease.

thats just me. but regardless, proud that we all can come together and try and help others out.
The goals can be raised at any time.  We did the same with the Japan fundraiser.  Start too high, and users won't feel like their individual contributions even made a dent in the grand total.

I've raised the goal to $3,000 for now.  We're still close to achieving that goal, but to do so in the next 24 hours would require us to pick up the pace.

We're adding the final badges tomorrow (LAST minute submissions will still be accepted here: http://niketalk.com/t/574471/calling-all-nt-graphic-designers

And I've got a site-wide notification ready to bring online tomorrow, in case users haven't checked the front page this week.  It should help raise awareness among visitors coming in from search engines, too.  Don't worry, the site-wide notification is dismissible and disappears automatically after a set number of user actions.

Im pretty sure we'll reach the new goal as well!

Hey Meth, I donated on the first link that you posted before the Mercy Corps link became available. Crux told me that the money will be transferred to the Mercy Corps website. Im just wondering if this pushed through and if it did, is it already accounted for in the total money raised were now seeing on the Mercy Corps website?

I couldnt be more grateful for this initiative. Ive been a supporter of NT charities but this one means the most to me as it hit close to home.

I can't transfer the money to Mercy Corps from another charity, but I would've given you the top level badge to acknowledge the donation even though it was made before the Mercy Corps fundraiser was active.

We do, however, have a couple of donations made to Mercy Corps while our page was down that will be added to the total tonight to push us a little closer to the new $3,000 goal.  We'll also have the badges up later tonight and a new announcement message that will span the entire site.  The need has not dissipated and neither will our efforts.

^Thanks for the clarification Meth! Not really after accounting for my total donations and Im pretty sure money donated on both links will be used for its intended purpose: to help those severely affected by the disaster.

Thanks again Meth!

Hey Meth, will the badges have a link to this page/fundraiser? I remember on Yuku that was how I found out about the Japan fundraiser and I was able to contribute!

They will!

Some of the badges are already up.  If you mouseover the badge, it links to this page and says "Contributed to NikeTalk's Super Typhoon Haiyan Relief Drive" so everyone knows what it means.

There's also a short description of each badge on the awardee's profile page.

We're using all the tools available to us on the Huddler platform to make this as successful as possible.

For everyone who's contributed:  thanks for your generosity and your patience.  I've awarded about half the badges earned thus far, so if you don't have yours just yet, it should be added to your account later tonight.  If you forgot to include your screen name in the comments section when you made your donation, just send me a message and we'll set everything right.

Let's go get that $3,000 goal!

Just donated..Wish I could give more..God bless all those affected..
