Ex- Jazz Ball Boy selling the REAL Flu Game XIIs

See that's what I am saying. Most people on NT are looking at this story from a shoe collector's point of view (not saying there is anything wrong with this), and not a sports memorabilia point of view.  While a shoe collector may say "what the hell am I going to do with one shoe?", a memorabilia collector may say "you mean I have a chance to buy an autographed shoe that Jordan wore during the flu game?!?  I'm in!!"

Thats the same reason why I think he will get 200k for them. Its not a shoe, its sports memorabilia

Great story. He is right, they can't be hidden away in some safe deposit box. Those shoes need to be in a glass box in the basketball hall of fame...or someones mansion I guess.

I'd be shocked if they went for less than a million. These were actually worn in one of the most legendary game of his career. Rich people spend tons of money on stupid pointless items with no history attached. This is THEE piece for a sports collector of means.

I think it'll go for 6 figures or close to it.

I've seen people spend thousands on regular sneakers.

Good story. I'd never sell them. The only way I'd get rid of them is if Springfield asks me and compensates me well for them. Other than that, they'd stay in my possession. @Antidope  200K is way too steep for a pair if historic kicks. He didn't even win the championship in them.

Yeah...no way these shoes go under 6 figures. That was arguably Jordan's greatest game considering the circumstances. Still remember watching it like it was yesterday. And a lot of the dudes who were old enough to remember watching itt like me prolly have a lot more money now than they did then.

Bros....no way this will sell for $25k-30k.....there's dudes like this cat that will drop 100k+ for those grails:

No doubt. We got rich fat cats spending $15K plus just to go to Jordan's adult bball camp in Vegas a few years back so just imagine how much these type of folks will bid on this? Easy 6 figures.

$500k

I'm calling it...

There's some mogul that grew up idolizing MJ and will rustle jimmies by offering more than anyone else...

People love mj...

And yea... Scumbag Mike is in full effect...

Dude was hungover?

:nerd:

Nah, to collectors, complete set > .
I strongly disagree with this.  You are speaking in terms of a shoe collector.  I am talking in terms of a memorabilia collector.....who lets be honest....is probably going to be the one who purchases these.

Hypothetically speaking, lets say this ball boy only was given one shoe.  You think if he tried to sell said shoe people would say "Nah, I have no interest.  Its only one of the pair."?  I dont.

i concur on those free runs, easiest the most comfortable shoes i have

but what makes you think he will pay 100k+ for that pair?? dude has legit memorabilia that prolly didnt run him 60k

i would be much more inclined to believe he would pay close to six figures for the jersey MJ wore (although he doesnt even seem like the type of collector who would pay close to six figures for sports memorabilia), but not the shoes

No.

And to your second point:

But that's not what happened. This guy has both shoes.

There's a difference between only a part of a set being out there and someone purposely breaking up an intact set.

So you're saying sports memorabilia collectors wouldn't want at least a part of MJ's legend (quite possibly his greatest feat at that)?

He is not about to get 6 figures. Go check ebay now and search MJ game worn shoe and MJ autographed shoe. There are plenty of pair at 2,000 and under with no bids.

WAY better than this one of my homie who is a ball boy for the sixers. **** Joey Crawford http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...jects-ball-boy-during-philadelphia-76ers-game

No.

He's saying he'd make more by splitting the set. I'm saying that the complete set is more valuable to collectors.

I don't understand how you came to that conclusion.

Please go back through my posts and point out where I said that he would make more money selling them split up.  Please.

All I was pointing out is that there would be a market for selling one shoe.  If I was him, that's precisely what I would do.  Sell one shoe and keep the other.  Not only keep the other, but I would give it to the Hall of Fame on loan to display.

I never once said he would make more money splitting them up.

Yeah but were any of those worn in the infamous flu game? hell the jersey tom brady wore in the game against san fran last yr went for over $25,000 just last week. while it was an historic comeback that was a regular season game. these shoes will sell for a ton.

I think his trainer Tim Grover said it wasn't the flu but he was actually a victim of food poisoning. An unknown pizza was deliver to their room and MJ was the only one brave enough to eat it and the next day got flu poisoning.

Ah, my mistake then man.

That I agree with.
