Huge difference between funding and a buyout.....they may only be investing 500 mil but at a large valuation.
 
when the ceo said no to FB jim cramer said they'd get 10 billion valuation from the street if they went public today. gotta love bubbles.

The app generates ZERO revenue and they can't explain how it'll generate revenue :lol:

Has Tumblr broken even for Yahoo yet? Not an app, but it was another platform that operated at a loss when it was purchased by Mayer.

They may just want the idea and not the app itself. Incorporate it into their system.

social media is growing huge. 

businesses are going to have to integrate social media into all aspects of their business.

Exactly, it ain't as if there's an actual business model behind Snapchat, same with Tumblr.

I only use FB to post links to my articles and talk to my friends via messenger. Instagram is the better social media imo, but obviously, under the same umbrella so it does't matter. I prefer Twitter over FB, but I could see the gripes many have with TWTR. Really comes down to following the right people. I've got my feed hooked up with good traders and sports writers, plus a couple of athletes. Makes it easier for me finding new stocks or articles/quotes to put in my articles.

You'd get double to triple by taking the company public yourself though. Only problem there is, since they aren't yet monetized, you'll flame out eventually and be absorbed by another company unless you figure things out like Facebook did.
