23 Yr Old Snapchat CEO Turns Down 3 Billion Offer From FB

I don't know if you noticed but snap had an update not to long ago where you could actually upload from your camera roll, which for me as a photographer was awesome, I could now upload my work, like I did on IG...lol that was snap showing their cards to Instagram...Zuck said, hold up wait a minute.
If you can have it all in one app, one where you been for longer....you best believe it'll affect Snap....kill it? Maybe not, but you gotta k is that dude made a huge mistake not taking that 3 billion offer...he's now a competitor and he just doesn't have the backing or money to go up against Zuck.

Dude clearly didn't sell because he's not a hustler and truly believes Snap can be it's own empire... I've personally never had a Facebook, IG, Vine, etc. etc. but Snapchat has been where it's at and that's not going to change.

Snapcash is the GOAT and makes Venmo absolutely useless... most people still aren't even in the know about this feature, being able to receive in withdraw your paper within 5 minutes :pimp: no more, "I'll pay you when I get some cash" and/or 2-3 day wait periods messing with Venmo. :pimp:

These dudes ain't really plugged in, they showing their lack of knowledge/foresight when it comes to tech throughout the thread.

Hence why they don't understand this is a desperation move.

Zuckerburg tries to buy Snapchat for 3 million, then 10 million and now he's just trying to copy their features.

For a guy who's so intent on running the world, you would think he would bring more innovation to the table instead of trying to do something that Snapchat already does better.

IG most likely hired a bunch ex Snapchat employees

Snapcash? Is that what dudes send to chicks on snapchat who basically amount to webcam girls ?

Social Media platforms are all about the audience. You can have the coolest features in the world but if people aren't on it there is no social aspect to it.

IG Stories is a real threat to Snapchat because IG has 500 million users. That's huge. 500 million users with a huge amount of followers and a network that is strong. A ton of cash behind you with FB, an established advertising platform and sales team, and they just stole your unique product feature that made you cool to begin with.

I'm not saying Snapchat is done, but it has a steep uphill battle to remain a successful, independent public company against the social monster that is Facebook/IG.

Now with Twitter, we are hitting a ceiling as to the amount of users (300M) but as of right now FB/IG can't replace Twitter because Twitter serves a distinct purpose, real time content/new in it's most raw/vulnerable form. The way FB's timeline algorithms (catered to your family / friends, which is opposite of what's happening in the world right now a la Twitter) makes it difficult for FB to kill Twitter. However, Twitter is now moving to live streaming events/ Periscope, and this is where FB Live is getting at.

tl;dr Zuck is a ruthless savage.

Snapcash? Sounds safe...

Yeah there's been no urge to mess with that feature. I'm cool with Venmo.

Are you joking? It's done in collaboration with Square... No different than any transaction you do at a restaurant, if you don't approve the transaction let your bank know and they'll refund it.

You dudes sound like you're just in denial simply because you haven't used it yet.

No, it's a way to send funds to anyone via your debit card. If I be-friend you on snapchat right now, I can send you paper and you can withdraw it in less than 5 minutes. You type the following in the blank field like you're sending a message, "$1" > Send Cash, it'll prompt you to enter your debit card information that one time and done.

Nah man...effff that...I wouldn't even do that with FB and I'm sure they have far more advance security....PayPal and Chase QP for me.

Their FAQ says it deposits your money in your bank account in 1-2 days. Just like Venmo.

#facts, and for all of snapchat's positives (attention, users, features) it isn't exactly the most friendly to big business as IG/FB...also this is far from a desperation move, it just makes sense, there isn't much downside to this & allows a functionality/integration that many were uploading to IG/FB anyways...

Yeah that's why it's almost a wrap for any social media company with a great idea to thrive.

FB/IG has nearly 2 BILLION people using their platform. That is almost 25% of the world population. Their most valuable asset is their audience. Any unique, cool feature (dissapearing videos) can be observed and integrated in their platform and shared amongst there 2 Billion persion audience.

How do you compete with that?

How exactly can business flourish on Snap?....ill wait till some of you guys come up with how snap can ever compete with IG/FB on that front.

snap tapped into a pretty narrow market, a younger generation that uses the platform as a short term memory camcorder....up until recently whatever you uploaded was gone after 24 hours....interaction aside from private dMs was out the window....you can't even hold conversations with multiple users, there is very little to interact with, you basically upload and have people watch you....SNAP CANT COMPETE.....just like Vine couldn't compete, MySpace couldn't compete.

Only on NT can you get called a Bboy for disagreeing with someone.

Wait steezy still thinks he should have sold the company for 3billion even after we know it's worth over 20b today

How much does he expect to make? I don't think it matters to him...when you create something like this it's your baby brah. You wanna watch it grow and see what it can become b

Still don't see how Snapchat is as popular as it is. I finally broke down and created me an account like 2 months ago. Managed to follow a nice amount of people I personally know, a few IG thots & a few celebs. As of today, I only check out like 6 people Snaps on a daily basis.

I follow a bunch of photographers on snap. I enjoy the behind the scenes videos more than the actual finished photos they post on instagram.

One photographer also sells those dad hats and promotes them heavy through snap. I know dude is flourishing because he's literally making new color ways and designs every week. He also asks the audience to screenshot their favorite colorway/design to make next. Instead of filtering through hundreds of insta comments he can just look at in a second which had the most screenshots

Thats the point of Snapchat. It's not meant for you to be up there conversing about how your day was. Like I previously said, you see something interesting and take a snap and go about your day. You want to interact with people and have a full conversation, shoot them a text.

Snapchat is the most minimal form of social media out there in that you dont have to maintain anything, and people still have a problem with that. :x

Guaranteed that man is gonna dish snap and continue with IG....because now he can flourish from one app, as opposed to two

Also it may be a generational thing but I believe people my age 18/19 and teens younger prefer snapchat over instagram. I'm usually exchanging snap names before IG handles now.

So snap is SOCIAL media without the Social aspect....got it chief...

He said shoot them a text....I barely text my wife....lmao

I personally want everyone to switch to instagram but I still prefer snap geo tags/ filters etc over insta right now

just need insta to copy some more

Exactly....thing is with the younger generation there is a shorter attention span....so is until the newest app comes out and they'll move right on over.

Entrepreneurs/business CANT interact with potential clients on snap the way you can on IG/FB

People can't interact as a group, almost like an open forum on snap like they do on IG

snap doesn't have nearly the same reach globally as IG does.

IG is backed by Facebook....what is snap backed by? square? Ok...

Snapcash? Sounds safe...
Snapcash is just Square's "Cash app"  within Snapchat. 100% safe lol you obviously just anti snap.

No snap isn't backed by Square lol, they just integrated a payment system.

You keep bringing up the uploading of old pictures as if you haven't been able to do that forever with 3rd paty apps.

Snap will never be able to compete business wise with IG/FB, thats a fact.

while not necessarily a wrap, it probably will halt some of the IG/FB users who were on the fence about or unsure why they should/would use snapchat from using it (for now anyways) which might cap/limit snapchats growth to the younger part of the under 30 crowd...given the loyalty, size & coveted demographic snapchat has,i don't think they are too worried, plus one would imagine they saw this coming, once snapchat adds more of the tools that allow business/people to really understand what/who/where the audience is to their snaps, they'll probably be swimming in even more imaginary money...
