Snowboarders Please Enter..

Squaw Valley announced they will stay open til 4th of July weekend. Planning a trip in June so I can ride in the morning then take the fam to the lake to hangout.

Didn't make it to snowboard last season but I'm super amped to make it later this year. Bumping this thread cuz I actually bought a pair of snowboard boots from Burlington for 90 bucks

Even though I've only gone once and don't see myself going very often, I hated wearing some shoes other cats done sweated in. Idc if they're not great, but what y'all think about Nike snowboarding products in general? Good enough I'd hope. Also bought a North Face anchor bib on stupid discount just cuz.

do you know what year are those vapen boots? I have a different colourway of those. mine are '12-'13 I believe. I love them. theyre a great choice don't trip. and I go on the regular in Tahoe if I can. THe thing is when you buy snow gear and if youre fully grown its pretty much gonna last you 10 years. especially for you if you've only gone once. just make sure you love your gear choices style and comfort wise. people who buy the new new every year either live there, are sponsored, or bored with money.

Nike in general is ok but not the best. they just want a foot in the door for every sport because they can. Burton is the most recognizable because its one of the best. I've mentioned here before (its a slow thread but still) that theyre also a monopoly in a sense that if you buy their boards youre FORCED to buy their bindings and sometimes boots because they only work together. My Ride board has Flex bindings and I use Nike boots.

Ride is a great brand. good boards and clothing.

Lib Tech is like the Gucci of boards if you're an expert at the terrain park. theyre banana tech boards are really smooth for all the jumps, edging,

Rome is like the newest dope brand out there. their better products happen to be clothing and a few boards but it's there.

K2 would be the 2nd most popular but they mostly cater to Skiing so most of their money goes there.

Forum is like Undefeated if Ride is Huf. same thing but a little weaker

As for clothing... almost all of these brands have some form of clothing, except libtech, but there's nothing wrong with the northfaces, patagonia, oakleys, 686(they concentrate on clothes more so then boards)

Thanks for the detailed response! I think these are from '13. And furthermore, I read that Nike closed up shop in the Snowboarding arena around 2014. I've seen a neon am95 looking version of this one and then some jordan 1 inspired vapens that look sick as well!

For now I'll definitely be renting any other equipment necessary since I'm so new. Like I said, I'm hella uncomfortable with wearing shoes someone else put in work in. However, at a certain point later it would make sense to look into owning other equipment. I'll be referring to your post then.

the number 1 gear you should spend the most money on should be boots anyway. those stay with you even when/if you go onto your first or second board

In the market for a new jacket. I went too hard on my bulk so my Helly Hansen no longer fits loose enough for layers without buldging from it

Any recommendations?

No ones snowboarding this season or what? Looking to get new boots, I think mine are too loose.

Should I switch to the Boa system? Really hate tying my boots, I feel like I never tie them tight enough to keep my feet locked in.

Found a pair of DS Stash boots and I'll be using them for the first time this Sunday.

I'm switching boots from these that I've been using for 3 years. I like how easy the Boa's are but the front bottom pinch my foot too much when I lean forward so it'll be nice to be able to adjust the laces on my newer ones.

I purchased a pair of ski boots last year online ( never again) that I used once. Short story very uncomfortable. Does anyone know if any ski shops do any trade in?
