Thank you for helping NikeTalk contribute $11,000 to the American Indian College Fund!

This September, NikeTalk contributed $11,000 to the American Indian College Fund to establish the NikeTalk scholarship program.

The program will provide ten students with $1,000 scholarships for the spring semester, with a preference for first generation college students and those pursuing careers in education.  

We're hopeful that our modest contribution will assist and encourage the talented scholars who need it - and who deserve so much more than we were able to provide.

The American Indian College Fund helps support over 6,000 students and 30 tribal colleges, but hundreds of deserving scholarship applicants must be turned down each year.

Nike fans out there may also be interested to learn that Nike will donate a nebulous and unspecified "portion of the proceeds" from their N7 line to the American Indian College Fund.  (Personally, I'm not a big fan of wool, but the windbreaker is pretty nice.)

I'm glad you feel that way.

Educational causes are obviously very close to our hearts as well, and they've become a real point of emphasis for us.  As someone who's benefited from fellowship and scholarship funding, I'm grateful for the opportunity to pay that forward and try to extend similar opportunities to others. 

As Nelson Mandela once noted, "Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farmworkers can become the president of a great nation."

We'd love it if we could continue to renew this program every year, and develop others. 

If you enjoyed this announcement, we have another education-related contribution in the works that should make you very pleased as well - and I expect to make that official next month.

Just shared this with my ladyfriend. She was thrilled considering this organization paid for a quarter of her education. Props to US/NT

My favourite thing about these things are that I know that alone, my contributions would do little but as a collective we can make things like this happen

A little late on this post but I think this is amazing. As an alumni of The University of Maryland I came to realize significance of scholarships and grants. During my undergrad I always just signed the papers to get FAFSA (Which is NOT FREE MONEY) and didn't take the time to apply for programs either out of ignorance to their existence or just plain laziness. Now that im working on a Physical Therapist's Assistant Certification I am taking more advantage of the help out there. Programs like this make a huge impact. Take the time and do the essays, its worth it!!!! ........or you can come out of college with $50,000 of debt like me. I was a huge knucklehead
