Well since the Outkast rumors have started up I figure we would start this thread a month earlier than normal to have people prepared to make accommodations. Especially since Indio is not near a major airport.

Weekend 1: April 11-13
Weekend 2: April 18-20

Other Accommodations:
10x15 Personal Camp Site: $85

Nearest Airport:
Palm Springs Airport (22 Miles)
Ontario Airport (92 miles)
LAX (144 miles)

Questions:

I live out of state. How do I get to Coachella?
You have options.

1st option: Fly into Palm Springs ($$$) & have California friends pick you up on the way to their campsite/condo/house/hotel
2nd option: Fly into Palm Springs ($$$) and take a taxi to Coachella. Walk up to your friends campsite and camp with them.

3rd option: Fly into LAX/Ontario & have friends pick you up and take you to their campsite/condo/house hotel
4th Option: Fly into LAX/Ontario & take a train to Coachella. Walk up to your friends campsite and camp with them.

5th Option: If no one you are staying with has a car (I take it they don't live in California) Land at your airport, get a rental car and take it to your hotel or house

If there is anymore please let me know and I'll put it here.

I'm coming solo, what do I do?

Get online and try to join someones campsite or else your best option is a single camp spot but those are small and away from the car camping (aka the party)

How much do hotels cost?
You can always get a deal but be prepared to pay a lot. The 3 closest Motel 6 hotels are already sold out. The nearest one is 19 miles away and is $142 a night so yea. Prices have changed but I remember getting a 3 bedroom condo for $400 a night. And yes most places have a 3 day minimum during that weekend. So I suggest getting your spot (if you're not camping) the same day you get your tickets.

Cut to the chase, what's the best option for out of towners in your opinion?
Depends:

(I have friends who live in California going) Coordinate with them. Have them pick you up from the airport and do whatever they do.
(I have friends who aren't in California going) Land at the same airport, grab a rental car and a camping pass or a hotel/hotel shuttle pass.
(I don't have any friends) Get on the Coachella forums, find people who need room and find rides.
(I don't have any friends and I'm scared of the internet) Land in Palm Springs, get a personal camp spot, get there early Thursday and make friends.

Pros/Cons of Camping vs Hotel/House/Condo

Camping
Pros: You can walk to the festival, the party is always going on, cheaper, don't have to drive intoxicated after the festival, roller derby and Yoga mornings, Constant :smokin
Cons: Shower wait, hot *** sun, no comfortable bed, less energy come Sunday, limited food options, can't take your car out to the pre and after parties (must use cab or don't go)

House/Hotel/Condo

Pros: Air Conditioning, Comfy bed (or floor if you're crowding a room), Refrigerator, Easier access to the million pre-parties and after parties going on that weekend, Constant :smoking
Cons: Expensive, Driving after the show, traffic to and from the show

How many people can fit in one car camping spot?
Technically as many people as you want. Ideally,….. 4 people

I went '12 but missed last year. One of the best times of my life. Only thing I didn't like was the weather. But If 'kast and lorde are headliners I'm in!

Wasn't planning on going 2014, but I'm considering it now since Outkast might be headlining. Not gonna miss that.
 
Doesn't matter if she's there. There will be plenty of other acts to catch during that time slot.
 
^ I know. Just saying. I liked her album a lot, but goddamn I hear that song every 30 minutes at my workplace. I'm hating out of spite.

Also, I haven't been following the EDM scene and just checked the rumored lineup in OP. Haven't heard of the Skrillex x Diplo project :wow: :wow: Dog blood was great last year. Major lazer was great last year. Can't even imagine how live the Sahara tent's gonna be with these two

Seriously skrilly has been at the polo grounds every year since 2011. I'm 99% sure he'll be there next year with jack u. I hate him but dog blood was so sick this year. Top 5 set for me. Lorde does get old but I'll have to sit through a half set at almost acoustic christmas. Give me the knife, massive attack, 2 many djs and chemical bros and I'll be a happy camper with the edm.

and Tre, Volcano Choir is going to be there. 4th year in a row for Justin Vernon :smokin I imagine next time he's there it's Bon Iver headlining

Justin said in a reddit AMA that there's no plans for Bon Iver anytime soon. Could just be lip so that the focus was shifted to VC.

Is VC confirmed for coachella??

I think ima do the hotel this time around. The shower wait wasn't bad just really small and smells like ****. Plus if your phone battery dies, good luck finding a spot to charge

Volcano Choir is gonna be there. and i'm sure he'll take a break after the Volcano Choir cycle, but he isn't just going to go away. he's like Jack White, he's gonna be making music consistently. Bon Iver will eventually be back and they will headline Coachella when they do return.
 
First weekend is my son's first birthday, second weekend is my anniversary...

If there was EVER a time I would like to break the NT cursing TOS it would be now.
