Official Coachella 2014 Thread & FAQs : OUTKAST, Arcade Fire, Muse April 11-13, April 18-20

Probably not until the last week of January.

Hoping for Tame Impala, Grizzly Bear, and Local Natives.

I missed it last year because friend's flaked... Me and at least one of my boys are determined to go this year. Was gonna hit this thread up when I got my ticket cause I'll be car camping. Definitely need some advice on that front and get a "summit" going :pimp:

Missed Holo-Pac. No way I'm missing Outkast if rumors are true.

My homie and I have or eyes set on that ***** weekend :smokin :smokin :smokin

but what do you guys think is the best alternative to buying tickets, I feel like once they go on sale on the website they will be sold out? is studhub or a location like that the best option?

and for those that have camped in the past how do you recommenced bringing your camping gear on a plane? like do I have to bring my own tent (?)

We're coming from New Orleans

If you can be free right when the tickets go on sale, you'll probably be fine. I usually have multiple web browsers open and the wait can end up taking awhile, but you'll more than likely get through.

As far as camping goes, there are two types of camping. Car camping where you bring your car onto your spot with you and regular tent camping without a car. I've only been car camping, but I do know that tent camping is a 10x15 spot. Whatever you do you want to make sure you plan to have some sort of shade because it gets hot early!

If you or any one else has any questions with regards to camping, feel free to ask. I've been at it a few years now, so hopefully I can help.

Appreciate the insight man. What are the essential items to bring for car camping? Like, what did you learn and swear not to forget after your first time?

Also, is it recommended to get in line first thing on Thursday? Plan on flying in Tuesday to hit LA and shop for supplies. Then hit the camp grounds on Thursday.

No problem! The essentials for me and my group were the following:
  • Canopy - 10x10 should fit perfectly behind a car.
  • Sleeping bag.
  • Tarp - you can use this to create more shade or wall off your canopy if you need more privacy.
  • Plastic stakes, mallet and/or sand bags - This may not be necessary, but the past two years there have been some windy nights. We saw plenty of canopies get blown away from the high winds one particular night. Technically they don't allow the stakes or mallets, but just roll them up in your sleeping bag and you'll be good.
  • Tent is optional for me. They can trap heat and take up more space, but some people like the privacy.
  • Camping chairs - you'll definitely want a place to sit and relax after a long day.
  • Cooler - for beer and snacks.
  • Food & snacks - I usually go with nonperishable food and get my hot meals for the vendors. If you're more ambitious you could always bring a propane tank and cook yourself.
  • Beer - you're allowed a case of beer person, but they're fairly lenient.
  • Liquor - isn't allowed, but fairly easy to bring if you're clever. A case of Arizona Green Ice Tea from Costco replaced with dark liquor usually does the trick for us.
  • Hand sanitizer / wipes / toilet seat covers - Sometimes using the bathroom can be quite an adventure, so I like to be prepared.
  • Ear plugs - for sleeping. Last year we had a neighbor who's car alarm went off at 5:00 in the morning and I was the only one who slept through it. Needless to say everyone borrowed ear plugs the next night.

I think that's about it as far as the essential stuff. The earlier you show up the faster you'll get setup and ready to party. From my experience you'll be waiting for awhile no matter what unless you're right at the gate. It also seems like security is more strict at the beginning of the day, but by the end of the day they're just rushing people in. Also, the way they hand out car camping spots is pretty random, meaning getting there somewhat early doesn't necessarily equal a better spot. If it's setup like last year's you'll want to try and stay to the right once you go through security though. Those camping spots are closer to the gates and food vendors. Hope this helps.

I'm hoping the lineup comes out today but I know they're gunna make us wait :smh:

The 'chella twitter page been dropping artist that are going and the insta page dropped Motörhead pic. I thought the lineup dropped early Jan. last couple years

Last year the lineup was out in late January supposedly because they were still trying to get the headliners together. I believe it was January 24th to be exact. The 2012 lineup was released on January 9th, so I guess you can expect it anytime between now and up to two weeks. Hopefully sooner than later!

I was reading their forums and FAQ and it looks like all camping spots have sold out for the 1st Weekend...

If I remember correctly, they save some camping spots to go on sale after the lineup drops. Just keep in mind you have to purchase your festival pass and car camping pass at the same. If the car camping passes do sell out online, you may have some luck calling Front Gate tickets right after you buy your festival pass and adding a camping pass to your ticket order that way.

Plan on going, ain't camping though,

A good friend of ours has a vacation home in one of the golf courses/resorts. We stay there. :smokin

I hope they saved some. The person that said they were sold out is apparently staff. We'll see. There's always weekend 2 but I already put in my leave request for my job based on wk 1 :\

My girlfriend and I are gonna fly out from Connecticut for weekend 1. I have an uncle who lives in Indio so were gonna stay with him. Hopefully fly into Ontario or Palm springs. Hoping to get tickets during the general release so we dont have to pay reseller prices.

last year I had some Australian dude stay over during the second weekend I charGed him like 500 for 5 days. I live in Palm Springs 10 mins waking distance to downtown. Thinking about doing this again this year. I rented out our extra bedroom that has a bathroom wifi and a queen bed.
