2014 NBA Draft Thread

I was absolutely floored by the dunk Adrien Payne did last night. Ridiculous athleticism that had me :wow:

Payne put the ball below his ankles, **** caught me so off guard. :smh:

THAT is the dunk you dudes were all freaking out over in the college basketball thread?

Thought Payne did a 720 double windmill with the reactions some people were posting.

yea...ho hum. Bet u about to drop a story about how u see guys in ur rec league doing the same thing.

He's 6'10" 250....please name guys you've seen do the same thing.

And we disagree on Gordon — he’s Shawn Marion 2.0 with a dash of Blake and a dash of Kirilenko thrown in. I came around on Gordon the more I watched him. Crazy athletic, good hoops IQ, super-competitive. I’m in. By the way, Marion 2.0 is no joke — we just got 15 years and counting from the Matrix.
From Bill Simmons, which may, or may not help the argument.

so simmons ad OKB have the same opinions on Gordon

I see him being able to guard 2 through 4 and depending on small ball lineups 5's occasionally.

Jerami Grant expected to declare according to SI's Pete Thamel.

I don't know who gave him advice and told him that he could make the jump now, but they were wrong. What's worse is that he has an uncle and father who've played in the NBA. He's athletic, but that's about it. Outside of the paint, he has virtually no skill. The Dayton game proved that to a tee. They scouted him extremely well, rendered his spin move ineffective and forced him to get the ball at or near the top of the key. He's nothing more than a Tyrus Thomas type. I hate to say it, but I expect him to be out of the league at the end of his rookie deal if he doesn't improve dramatically outside of five feet from the basket.

People have him as a first round pick, so it'd be in his best interest to strike while the iron is hot. What if he comes back and doesn't improve his jumper and no longer is a 1st rounder? I agree that he can't play the 3 offensively in the league, but I also don't think it's a bad mood if he can still cash out now.

Well Tyrus Thomas certainly made the jump to the pros at the right time, in retrospect.

And? There are plenty of bums who overstayed their welcome and collected a check. He was a bust in every definition of the word. The Bulls gave up Lamarcus Aldridge for him. Grant can't dribble, has no post moves and can't hit the broad side of a barn outside the paint.

I'm saying Tyrus Made the correct decision.

If he wasn't going to learn how those skills in the pros he certainly wasn't going to learn it in college.

I don't see why Grant can't eventually be Faried with better defense as a ceiling.

Great body, freak athlete, good rim protector, rebounds well especially offensively and can guard multiple positions.

You get him on a team that pushes the ball, lets him screen/rim run and shoots a lot of 3's, he'll flourish.

Suns/Rockets/Nuggets/Hawks/Blazers

This dude is about to steal money from some overzealous GM. Why WOULDN'T he make the jump now, get the money while he can and not expose himself next year in college?

It's a bit different when it's a kid who makes the jump early and he's a 2nd rd prospect as opposed to a guaranteed 1st rounder.

Tyler Ennis' agent is the former director of CIA Bounce.

Interpret that how you want to.
