With d rose getting hurt again, kobe on his way back, RGIII "not really ready" it's got me thinking, do players come back too soon from injury? I think AP coming back killing it kinda shorten the "timeline" players had till they could come back.

Do players get pressured to come back sooner than they should?

dont start this topic with drose.

RG3 came back too early, we dont know about kobe yet. but overall i would say no they dont

Nah... there's zero pressure on a superstar athlete who is vital to his team's success to come back early.

Not at all.

Of course they do. Arrogance of the athlete, poor advice from the medical staff, pressure from management/ownership/coaches, the fans being impatient, not wanting to let your teammates down, etc., everything can play a factor. I don't know what Rose has to do with this... considering he was criticized for taking too long to return.

I don't care about d rose, I'm just throwing names of people who recently got injured, that's all.

I don't think Rose came back too soon he sat for an entire year before returning, but maybe the minutes could have been adjusted, but who knows. Adidas had a campaign for him to be ready for opening night. so no pressure there.

But on the other had you had RG3 with the all in for week on commercials with adidas which I think put EVERYONE in a bad situation. No preseason games or anything, and you could tell in the first game, hop skipping into handoffs, dropbacks looking awkward, etc., that he was not ready. With those all in for week one commercials and all the money put into it, you almost had to play RG3 ready or not.

But, I will say the Adrian Peterson return puts everyone in a bad situation because they think his return should be the norm going forward. Less than a year out, no knee brace, and performing at a HIGH level at the most body punishing position, and it just doesn't work that way.

Kobe on the other hand has something many of us will never have, ALOT of money to get the BEST doctors, treatment, physical therapy, personal chef, and the list goes on. He may say the first two weeks he was just laying in the bed, but from the day after the injury until now he probably has had some type of rehabilitation personnel around him at least once a day. So with having all those things around at his disposal 24/7, I can see him being ready in a few weeks from now. And he one thing about Kobe he has been very Vanilla in his return saying weeks, not knowing what day of the month that it is etc. He is not going to give anyone a thing to work with until he is ready.

But, when you have pressure from the organization, fans, etc., it can be tough. That's why you have to admire what Rose did last year. I just don't think they should have had him working out before the game for everyone to see and record and post on social media, that just made it look bad.

If you're young with a long career ahead of you take your time, but if you are toward the end like Kobe you may want to hurry it up. Like Ron Artest last year 12 days off surgery and playing was a bit crazy but Ron doesn't have much time in the NBA left, but if this was the younger Ron he would have waited.

But they also had to slow down Westbrook last year, he wanted to play earlier but a good organization slowed him down and said you got a long career ahead of you, you need to take that into consideration. So that plays a part as well. Just depends on the long term or short term goals of the franchise.

No. Of course you can point to a handful of individual instances but on an aggregate scale definitely not.
