Jordan Retro 6 "Maroon" - Dec. 5, 2015 ($220)

Not just resale, the whole big picture... If nike keeps pumping out this many pairs less people are going to want them. It's already happening on recent releases. Face it, a lot of sneaker buying is based on hype. Resellers built up an artificial demand for sneakers, Nike is over compensating right now. These releases are sitting. Higher retail might have something to do with it, hype beasts moving on from Jordan's surely has something to do with it as well. Fact of the matter is the "game" in general is changing right now, for resellers and true sneakerheads, down to casual collectors.

Don't get me wrong, I've been buying Jordan's since the 90's, and I'm not a reseller. I like a wider availability, but this much availability, and retail this high, could **** stuff up.
I see what you saying. It's not hurting nike because they push them to the outlets for a cheaper price if they sit on release day. The catch is do they really care about the retro's sitting on shelve. I think not they rather sale them. @babyJs23  is right we ask for them and nike is giving it to us but didn't ask for that price hike lol. I think you saying that since the game changing nike might eventually change as far as their retro sitting on the shelf. Nike has no one what to blame but them selves as far as shoes sitting. They always banking on blogs, websites, writers, resellers etc to promote and market the product for them. Which is lazy on their part but they have been getting away with it for years.

Imo I can see the price lower back to the original price but doubtful or slowing down on jordans being put out every week and/or production #'s. People forget that this is an anniversary year so they went all out. I will say next year will really tell where the sneaker game is at as far as jordan brand. As far as the resellers it just cut out the small timers from the big timers. Auqa's isn't hurting big timer resellers. It's just money saved to them and move on to the next big limited hyped release.

Agreed, next year most of the resellers will be going for the Cement 4s or possible the new OVO release.  Though if JB does what Nike did last year with the Chrome Foamposites then it could e a possibility for people to get them.
 
 
It's super weird that the box is marked QS, receipts come up QS, store invoices show QS, yet it is wide release... Have to wonder if the original intention was to make it a QS then they changed their minds after the boxes were already printed. Anyone with a Nike connect figure this one out?

Is there also a chance that even though the launch locator shows all those stores getting them, maybe it's still only like a FSR each or something?

If Nike keeps flooding shelves like this it's going to kill the "game." Especially with retail this high. These will be $300 with tax in Canada, Aqua 8's were $260. :smh:

You clearly have no concept of business. The higher the retail price, the less they have to sell to make a profit. You think Nike/JB loses money if a shoes doesn't sell out, or goes on sale? They do not sell the shoes to the retailer at the MSRP. At a $220 MSRP, Footlocker, Champs, DTL, etc probably (i don't know the actual number for this release, but those numbers and closer that you would imagine) pays less than $150 per pair. So, with that logic, even marking it down to $160, they are still coming out in the green. Not to mention that they have certain formulas that allows them to lower the prices even more. The could calculate that by selling xx amount at retail, that they can afford to go in the red on a certain number of pairs and still come out with a pretty good haul. Why do you think you'll always see certain Lebron and Kobe colorways dip as low as $59.99? They've already done the damage at retail, so at that point, they are just trying to get rid of stock. How many they sell past that point is pretty much extra.

You guys really think no thought is put into these decisions? How naive are some of you guys! These aren't your flavor of the month sneaker boutiques that can't/won't last two years. Really smart people are crunching these numbers to maximize earnings and profits.
 
bull1trc says to go tts - does that mean that this new, remastered vi fits differently than the others?

can anybody with an early pair comment on the sizing? is it tts or does it still fit big like the previous retros?

so after reading some pages..

lets clear up some stuff...


these are in fact a "quick strike" release in footlocker family of stores

which means no reward points or discounts not even for employees


now the whole GR or not a GR debate is crazy so ill dead that now


is it allocated to many stores?

yes

are the allocation per store high?

not really


so for example

the smallest allocation for these in GS sizing is 48 pairs

the smallest allocation in mens sizing is 56 pairs


now if we were going to compare it to another jordan shoe thats dropped this year its slightly under the laney 14 as far as allocation goes

and for just a comparrison cyber monday 1's are FAR more limited then these(in stores dunno about online)


i hate the term "limited GR" personally but i could see someone saying this for these

as for the aqua comparison goes its dumb knock that off

aquas were allocated crazy high even to low volume shops

im talking 300-500 pairs to small shops

and honestly looking over some data and emails they have had about a 72% sell through(as of this typing)


so figured 300 pairs 72% sell through thats like 216 pairs sold

$190 X 216 = $41,040

of course that is without tax

now thats a single shop so imagine all around


people see pairs "sitting" and get gassed by it

real pairs sitting are 3 peat 8 or those last marvin shoes etc...

insanely poor sell through on those 2 pairs like 28% initially

What? Chrome Foams sold out right away and go for more than OVO 10s.

These will sit mark my words, $220 w/o tax JB smokin that good stuff. I know in Chicago they will, our sales tax is the highest in the U.S at 9.25%. Roughly the Maroon's will be $240.35 total, that's ridiculous. These will be widely available after they release, just like the aquas.

The hell with the "game". That's why sneaker enthusiasm got out of control in the first place. People turning the simple act of buying a nice pair of athletic shoes into a "game". I just want to be able to buy my Jordan's in peace. Just like the recent aqua release and releases in the old days. This is how it should be. I don't see how shoes being more available and attainable is a bad thing by any means for "true sneakerheads" (like you say) and casual collectors. Only people who it would effect in a negative way are resellers that pathetically rely on hype to make money for a living by flipping shoes. If they're is no limit and no hype, they don't eat and I love it.

No, I'm talking about an All Star Week release then a world wide release.
There was no world wide release. They released on All Star Weekend at like 5 stores and then on NDC/SNKRS and that was it. They were still limited as ****.

They actually released in stores and SNKRS during All Star Weekend and then on NDC and SNKRS, SNS, and END in May (called it a World Wide release).

Thanks for the claim of me having no concept of business... I actually have a business degree, and have worked in business most of my adult life. While what you say does make a lot of sense, and is mostly correct, the other fact of the matter is if a large amount of people drop off from buying something, the stores start to order less, and in the long run that also affects Nike. I have spoken to smaller shops that have been cutting back their Nike orders because it doesn't sell like it used to. Of course stores still make money when product is marked down, and yes Nike has already made the wholesale from selling it... but in the end both parties prefer the product does not have to see mark downs because it affects the bottom line of both.

And again for everyone, I'm not referring to the "game" as just resale, that's just one aspect of it... even just copping as a collector has become a "game" in many areas. In the mid 2000's I could go into any store and cop a retro afternoon of the releases, sometimes weeks later (i'm in Canada). For the most part that had changed, until the last few drops. All I'm saying is **** is changing, and it could shake **** up. Not looking for arguments, just pointing out the recent drastic shift in sneaker culture...
 
These will be easy. Outside of "sneaker heads" nobody checking for these. Colorway isn't the best.
