The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

BTW, apparently Chael drank a Coke at the Shogun weigh in as well
People like to read too much into things and make up things. Sonnen hardly had to cut to make 205 so he probably didn't have to rehydrate. He had one during the Rashad weigh in and like you said during the Shogun one too. And that tweet from Sonnen was supposedly about Jones getting some chick in Iowa pregnant and leaving her and the kid behind.

Seeing that McGregor will get the next title shot, I kinda hope they make Mendes/Edgar and Lamas/Swanson and put them all on the same card kinda like they did with the HWs at UFC 146.

I know that the 125 lb division doesn't get a lot of love but what's going on with Mighty Mouse? Uncle Creepy is fighting Lineker. Dodson is still out with his knee and he's been talking about wanting to move up to 135 to fight Dillashaw for the title cause he beat him already. So that only leaves Benavidez.

At this point I would like to see Frankie again Mendez both lost against Aldo and McGregor vs Aldo. I think this is better for the UFC. Maybe not for fans but for the UFC.

Cowboy wanted as many fights as possible from his first night in the UFC

What bro? That was nothing but an internet rumor. The only girl he got pregnant in college was Jessie Moses.

I didn't say it was true. Just pointing out that people read way too much into things and make things up to fit what they wanna believe. Back then it was about him getting some chick pregnant in Iowa. Now its about him using cocaine. If he pops positive for PEDs years from now ppl will go back to that tweet and say thats what Sonnen meant.

They are promoting the **** out of Conor

Like I said, not organic. Look at the rise of guys like Weidman, Cain, Edgar, Aldo etc. They rised organically.

No denying McGregor has an impressive skill set but the UFC has already decided he's their next transcendent superstar, the next in line after Ortiz, Liddell, Couture, GSP, Silva, Lesnar and Jones.

Its a bit much really.

You're right but I honestly don't really care. He's a fun fighter to watch

still believe Cowboy won that first one rds1, 4, 5 to 2, 3

great fight...ended up coming down to the first round....

watching it the first time I thought cowboy got that first round...

watched it a few times since, benson FINISHED the round stronger, both had dominant position for about 2-2:30 mins....fortunately for benson he finished the round in dom position.

and for the record i absolutely HATE MMA point scoring....

wish the UFC would adopt/adapt more of the pride system, no points just a decision based on control and damage.

I do feel however the UFC is moving in a better direction with some of the past high profile decisions, IMO they nailed lawler vs hendricks.....and were absolutely correct with the 49-46 UD in the jones vs cormier fight. Hopefully theres been new criteria added or some junk thrown out when it comes to the system...

and doods need to chill, no one want to see edgar loose to aldo AGAIN...

frankie has NOTHING for aldo, NOTHING....again NOTHING....one more time...NOTHING.

frankie can get better all he wants, the gap is too huge and your a fool if you think aldo isnt improving everyday either.

Aldo in my opinion is P4P #1, not a fan just an observer.

Some of you dudes are so ridiculous.

Look at the first Aldo/Mendes fight. Look at the 2nd. Different fight right?

Not possible the same could be the case with Edgar/Aldo 2?

None of that **** even matters. Maybe it is the same. Maybe Edgar gets KOd like Mendes did in the 1st Aldo fight.

Say all you want about who wants to see it, what did or didn't happen in the first fight. Use all the CAPS you want

The reality is that he's the most deserving of that fight right now.

I keep asking, if not Edgar, who (besides McGregor. We've all come to terms with that)?

And only one dude has given a legit answer. And that answer was Mendes, who is 0-2 vs. Aldo, one fight lasting 1 round and the 2nd a dominant decision. He's basically lost 5 of 6 rounds to Aldo.

It's really a moot point. The picture becomes clearer after McGregor/Siver.

On another (though slightly related) note, Marlon Moraes fighting again Feb. 12. Really want to see this guy in the UFC some time in the near future.

The disrespect for Frankie is so strong

and also some pretty irrational things in general said about the featherweight division in here recently

Mendes got a rematch why wouldn't Frankie deserve one too? Outside of Conor there aren't new contenders at featherweight

 wake up

BTW, UFC doesn't choose these judges, the UFC has nothing to do with how the judges score these decisions. Dana White usually hates how judges score high profile fights

Being a BJ Penn fan, I used to hate Frankie with a passion but seeing those wars with Gray Maynard made me a fan. Dude was undersized at 155 and still was  scrapping the best in the division. Really hate that he isn't getting the shot at Aldo but UFC has to capitalize on their golden pony Mcgregor.

If the ufc was smart they would do ufc rising, presents, fighters cut, etc for all their fighters, all the time. If they really want to be treated like a sport, they need to cover it like a sport. They shouldn't hype a guy and then when he loses abandon ship. Keep covering everybody all access and show the good and the bad.

I wonder if Silva uses RDA's gameplan and just wrecks Nick's leg with kicks. But getting over that mental aspect of throwing kicks at 100% is gonna be a *****.

If he doesn't want to kick nick's legs he can still do that awesome front kick or throw headkicks.

That and use knees as well as stay off the fence, if he does get trapped against the fence, he needs to grab that plum. Anderson eats up slower guys who throw pitter patter punches a la Forrest, Bonnar.

Agree to your comments about Silva vs Diaz. But given Silva's showmanship, I think this fight can turn into a boxing match.
