The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Ain't his fault his knee blew out, just gave him too much time to talk smack on Twitter and Ariel's show. If he beats Brandao (and I think he will, easily...) a quick turnaround against Poirer would be :pimp:

Really? I haven't really heard anyone say anything about the demo to begin with. I wonder how much only releasing the game on the ps4 and xbox one is gonna hurt sales.

I saw some dudes cryin' about it on the UG, but this was literally an hour after it went live. I usually wait for calmer heads to prevail when making judgements on stuff.

Don't have a One or PS4 yet, but I never expect much out of the initial sports games on next gen systems. Graphics look great, but the mechanics are never up to snuff.

lets go

Whatever happened to that mma show on espn? I remember they used to always show it at random times.
ESPN realized franklin mcneil knew nothing about the sport, that guy was so horrible when it came to talking about fights and making predictions.

Anik is annoying now and so is Ariel whenever he goes on UFC Tonight. Ariel is much better when he's doing his own show. UFC analysts are becoming very corny and too watered down. Cruz was cool but he's been missing lately. Chael started out awesome but dude got way too corny. Goldy and Rogan are up and down.

Can't stand the Florian/Anik team myself. They need to get Brian Stann on more broadcasts...

Bendo UD
Diego TKO 3
Dodson TKO 2
RDA SUB 3

Basically, same picks as Champ

Thats cause UFC and Fox is really controlling these guys. You got Rogan wearing suits now & Fox people in his ears telling him to calm down and stop being hype. Feels like none of them really wants to give their real opinions or ruffle any feathers. Only Ariel does and that's only when he's on his own show and reporting for MMAFighting.com.

I don't know many people that like Florian/Anik. I'm still holding out hope for a Jim Ross/Brian Stann team.  But Fox really likes Stann so I see him moving up in the rankings calling more NCAA football games then making the move to the NFL. And UFC doesn't like being associated with WWF so even though Ross wants the job it may not happen.

And I have the same picks. Only toss up I had is Diego/Pearson and thats because you never know what mental and physical shape Diego's gonna be in when he's in the cage.

Didn't know stann did football games too.

They probably can't say anything critical of the ufc, dana's stupid self would get them yanked. Any negative article that comes out and that idiot responds with a tirade cursing out whoever wrote it.

It's a UFC produced television show. They aren't going to be bashing the promotion on there no matter what role Dana plays. Think of it as NFL Network or NBATV.

If AXS could somehow turn themselves into the TNT of the NBA world, now that might be worth something...

I think that even if AXS or anyone else became like TNT is to the NBA, they still wouldn't be overly critical. If Bas and Kenny went on tv and criticized the quality of shows, match ups, fighter pay, etc., the next thing you'd have is Dana pissed off, stopping the show from using UFC footage, advising fighters not to go on the show, and taking away press credentials that anyone associated with the show has. Look at Loretta Hunt, she wrote something Dana didn't like and got banned. I may be wrong but I think that Josh Gross is still banned too. And it was because they were critical of UFC.

Yeah, you are probably right. Any media outlet has to walk on eggshells around Dana or else he will revoke their relevancy... :smh:

Pretty sure Gross is still banned and CagePotato too.

DC, classy as usual. He really is that dude
So once Cormier got the news he enjoyed a brownie, some ice cream and a beer since he didn't have to worry about keeping his weight in check right away and despite his grand plan of facing Jones for the belt, he had a feeling things would end up playing out this way.

"As hopeful as I was, as excited as I was, I'm still a realist.  I knew the chances of it happening weren't very big," Cormier told FOX Sports on Friday.  "Everything is what you make it. If I'm going to be down in the dumps, sad, disappointed, it's going to have an overall effect in my life.  It will have an effect on me, it will have an effect on my family, it will have an effect on my kids, it will have an effect on my friendships.  So if I'm able to keep things in perspective, if I'm able to maintain a positive outlook on everything, it makes it easier to deal with."

"Jon Jones isn't afraid of anybody," Cormier said.  "I think that's what we kind of miss in this whole 'he's ducking this guy, he's ducking that guy', Jon Jones isn't ducking anybody.  He's the champion of the world for a reason and that's because he's good.

"I think it's posturing more than anything.  We don't know his compensation package, we don't know what he makes, what he wants to make, we don't know if his decision was based on they didn't sell as many pay-per-views as he wanted.  You don't know.  There's so many things that go into those types of things."

So now with Jones matched up with Gustafsson on Sept. 27 that leaves Cormier with some decisions to make.  Prior to his fight with Henderson a few weeks ago, he suffered a knee injury to his LCL (lateral collateral ligament) so severe he nearly had to pull out of the bout.  While surgery remains an option, Cormier is currently contemplating rehabilitation and rest as opposed to going under the knife.

If all else fails, surgery is still an option but Cormier would rather avoid that at all possible cost.

"I'm not a big surgery guy.  Once you get surgery, you're so committed to everything.  You can't train, you can't do anything, you're just rehabbing the knee," Cormier explained.

"I'm going to see what my options are, I don't necessarily want to do surgery.  I would much rather rehab it and just be really aggressive in my rehab and try to strengthen it."

I'm trying to remember what insult word he used to describe Loretta Hunt, I do remember that it was bad. Dude is such a pos.

I remember when cp put the Arianny playboy photos up. Not sure what else they did to make him mad.
