The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

Aldo/Mendes II in LA August 2nd.

I'll take it.
Break the Team Alpha Male title fight curse. Those boys ride hard for one another, saw it firsthand at UFC 172 starting with Faber and Joe B-Wan. Trickling down to Castillo, Fili, and Justin Buchholz. Aldo has to lose some time, right?

Looking forward to seeing Matt Brown back this Sat.

Pissed we never saw him fight Condit.
Immortal would have caught that work. Snapping that 6-fight win streak NBK style. I mean, Brown hasn't fought since August 2013. I'm picking Silva by sub 2.

Conor went ham on the Ariel show today

called Cub a schmuck, Diamond a schmuck and said the division is filled with rookies and has-beens. Conor is annoying

Diamond and Aldo going to do work on that boy if Miller doesn't first

Dude is doing too much. Someone needs to put him to sleep then drop a Hendo type bomb on his corpse.

The way I see it: Cub defeats Stephens and gets a title shot, Conor gets by Miller and is matched with Diamond with a title shot on the line

Conor doing way too much saying the division is filled with trash. Dude is going to get that work very soon.

This Conor guy is getting annoying. Talks too much and we'll have to put up with him until his July fight.

Meanwhile Anderson is cleared for MMA training. Replaces Dos Santos in TUF finale.

Jk hahaha.

Mom's side of the family is all Irish. Have to rock with my guy Conor. I'm all for having more characters in the sport, dude's bravado is on a whole different level. :pimp:

Hope he smashes EVERYONE at 145.

I love characters, Conor's act just isn't that entertaining or riveting. Maybe he'll evolve that persona over time though I'm sure he will.

Thought this would be interesting to some of you

A leading authority on classical games here provides a comprehensive study of the practice of combat sports in the ancient civilizations of Greece, Rome, and the Near East. Describing and analyzing the sports of boxing, wrestling, stick-fighting, and pankration, Michael B. Poliakoff discusses such topics as the function of competition and violent games in ancient society; on the social background of the participants, showing the broad spectrum of Greek athletic personnel; on the significance of the appearance of combat sport in myth and literature; and on the alleged cultic functions of the ancient combat sports. Matt Brown is such a damn bad ***. Holy ****.

Brown v. Diaz would be absolutely unreal. Pay Nick.

DC, major props on that book recommendation. Ordered it tonight, topic fits right into my wheelhouse, looking forward to reading.

That was the first thing that came to mind when I read that and its even more applicable now.

You dudes and your crystal balls.....

UFC's Head of PR asked who 'we' wanted to see fight Brown next on Twitter.

Told him to book Brown/Diaz and ended the tweet with #PayNick. Dude came back saying he doesn't work in accounting, but would pay Nick $209 out of his own pocket.

At least the guy has jokes...

Seemed like silva's defense was to get punched and elbowed as many times as possible. Dude should've body kicked brown to hell.

At some point you have to wonder how many devastating losses a man can take. Silva has suffered three soul-taking defeats (Fitch, Stun Gun and Brown).. his chin tonight though was

how Brown survived two body shots was also

Only guy without an opponent is Lombard

The amount of contenders at WW
eek.gif
there's going to be a few guys who fall off soon between Lawler/Ellenberger, Rory/Woodley. That leaves Lombard, Brown and Stun Gun.

Question and drop off

1. Will there ever be someone with a SUMO background to COMPETE in the UFC?

2. "Japanese American Lives" on PBS. Kristi Yamaguchi introduces "Mrs. Judo." "Mrs. Judo: Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful" tells the inspiring story of Keiko Fukuda, the first woman in the world to attain a 10th degree black belt. "Mrs. Judo" airs on PBS stations this May as part of the Japanese American Lives series hosted by Kristi Yamaguchi. - -

I love both guys but you got Brown and Stun gun calling for shots but they haven't beat anyone in the top 10.

Rory or Woodley are next up and Lombard is one rung below them so Brown/Dong ****** need to call him out to make their claim legit imo.

The one who is left over can fight the Lawler/Berger winner.

Just listened to the Ariel show, Travis Browne has completed his scumbag transformation. Dude is so unlikable
mean.gif

So many excuses and has no idea that his biggest weakness is his cardio. He never once mentioned cardio as being a reason he lost. He said that before the Werdum fight he wasn't all there mentally nor physically. He said he was more up for the Reem and Barnett fight because "I was supposed to lose". Just shut up. Then he spoke about a laundry list of injuries he had against Werdum, sounding worse than Tito

You learn a lot about folks' true colors after they lose
