The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Not to beat a dead horse, but I've had it with Anik and Florian. They need to be retained in some capacity but when they call fights they make it seem second rate and unimportant. "The Voice" can make even those lowly pro fights seem like main events. He makes no name fighters seem like you're watching something very important. And it isn't manufactured or fake. He makes me want to watch those lesser orgs even with fighters I've never heard of. Is there any way "The Voice" could move on from AXStv? I doubt it but it's nice to dream.

My man Cockhold :pimp:

TJ looked tremendous aswel. I think his striking is better than Urijah's at this point.

1st round of Brunson/Romero looked like a Silverback territorial dispute.

Dudes was beasting on a next level :smh:

Looks like there's a wsof card on on Saturday featuring rumble Johnson and Justin gaethje. With a win Johnson gets a title shot but will also be a free agent. Gaethje apparently is a rising lightweight so hopefully we will get some entertainment. It's on the nbc sports network

Really did. All you could hear was 'Woooo' all night.

As soon as Ric Flair walked in the crowd lost it. I was wondering if it picked up on tv.

Donald Cerrone apparently is broke

This could be good for fans though since he's hungry to win and put on entertaining fights. Cowboy said he wants 6 fights in 2014
eek.gif

“What really happened is I spent all my money and now I’m broke,” Cerrone told Majority Draw Radio. “Now I only got one choice, and that’s to fight.

“It’s hard to have money in the bank and want something and then not get it. I just (expletive) buy it. I have no idea what saving money is. It has nothing to do with wanting to go broke. I wish I had millions in the bank; I’d never go broke. Let’s get that belt and get millions in the bank.”

The downslope, as Cerrone referred to it, began around the time he lost his UFC 141 fight against Nate Diaz. Since then, the Jackson’s MMA standout said he began to taper off in his training, being present physically, but lacking the mental focus that he had in years prior.

The problem, Cerrone revealed, was that he reached a comfort zone and remained there for an extended period of time.

“What happened was I got real comfortable financially, and just kind of let off everything — my training, I lost my fire,” he said. “I was training, going through the motions.”

Even as he collected a notable win over K.J. Noons at UFC 160 last May, Cerrone said he was missing something.

“I was fighting, but didn’t have that inner kill in me,” he said.

Cerrone about that prizefighter life :smokin

He'll be lucky to fight 6 times this year though with medical suspensions and risk of injury.

Dude has been one of the most active fighter over the past few years. Wonder what kind of dumb stuff he's been spending his money on. He needs to hire a financial advisor or at least talk to someone who is responsible with their money.

I think Cowboy was pretty deep into wake boarding, even talked about going pro at one point. That could be a money pit, who knows...

Don't know why, but having trouble getting excited for this FOX card, probably the weakest one yet.

Will likely get the DVR treatment from me.

I felt the same way, but then I thought about the ramifications of the fights. I watched the Road to the Octagon, got me a little more excited. I know that Cowboy wants to put on a show, but his opponent looks pretty fierce himself. Stipe is a beast. Thomson doesn't really get the hype but he will give Bendo a test. Sergio Pettis is on the undercard.

I just listened to the MMA Hour with Ariel, you guys should check it out. Khabib was on and so was Cole Miller. Great stuff from that show. I have a new respect for Cole Miller even though he called out Cowboy. Khabib said he'd fight Nate and Gil at the same time

Also, Travis Browne was on the show. He sounds so hungry and focused. Yikes. You can't teach those things. Could be the x-factor in a title fight with Cain, in terms of making up for his deficiencies. That is, if he gets past Werdum. He doesn't need to say "I'm motivated" but you can hear the ambition in his voice.

Word. I listen to The MMA Hour over the course of the week during my drives home. Takes a while to get through the whole thing but the show is really well done.

The Co-Main Event with Ben Fowlkes and Chad Dundas is my favorite MMA Podcast. About to throw on this week's episode.

Pretty cool. There's something about those days... reminds me of the NBA and their golden era (the 90's).. something about those days are just>>>>>

Arona....what the **** happened to that dude?

Looking forward to the main event this weekend. Both exciting, high energy fighters. I can't remember the last time I saw either in a snooze.

Cowboy fight looks like it could be a good one.

And it's FREE.

Rep for the heads up on that Rampage card going down at Mohegan! Had no clue the event was in CT.

Moving back to CT in early Feb. Even if he is over the hill, I have to see 'Page fight live.

No problem, brotha. Happy to share once I got the press release.

Rampage vs. Christian M'Pumbu
King Mo vs. Mikhail Zayats

Ever stay at the hotel? Looking at rooms now.

I've stayed at the hotel there a few times. Place is nice. Used to take the ex every couple of months, she had no idea my pops was getting the rooms comped.

Prices get crazy for big events and some weekends. Doubt they get too high for Bellator, though.

Have also stayed at some of the chains right around Mohegan. Can be way cheaper and can grab a room last minute. Most offer a shuttle to the casino and you can catch a ride back in a cab for like $15 when the shuttles stop running.

Where you been at Champ? I'm looking forward to this damn card.

Watching UFC Tonight right now, Cormier looking slim!

Vitor says he will continue to be on TRT

Thomson supposedly had a bad camp due to overtraining (was originally training to fight Pettis before Pettis got injured)

Rockhold wants to dabble at 205 but says he wants Bisping and Vitor

Shogun v Henderson II is official for March 23 in Brazil

Hendo has a new 6-fight contract

Sonnen trolling Wandy as usual

Hiatus, brotha. Working a lot with an AC trip mixed in.

Missed you guys. Bendo by decision, expect a more aggressive version to prove himself after the Pettis armbar. Stipe by KO, think he's too quick and fluid for Gonzaga. Cowboy by decision, he seems motivated and Martins isn't ready for Cerrone after losing to Trinaldo and Tibau in the past.

Good to see you check in, hope you've been good man. I agree with all your picks. I hate to see any of these guys take an L though, I like them all as people. They all seem to be pretty legit at least. Gonzaga's girl is a tattoo artist? Lol, I would have never guessed. Seems like a lot of the guys on the card have girls that train with them. Pretty interesting.

Thanks, man. How are things on your end?

Gonzaga's wife seemed bored with the suburban housewife lifestyle. Tattoo artist is her way of going rogue.

Martins' son rolling with his mom must be weird. Kid is 13 and that's an awkward situation.

Real emotions when Martins' wife cried about sacrificing her BJJ career for him.

Cowboy downgraded since B. Palmer. Riding bulls, wake boarding. Adrenaline junkie.
