The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I honestly don't know but was Cerrone broke against any of Pettis, RDA or even Diaz? I thought he was already broke when he lost to one of them...
is that really why he's fighting so often??? cause he's broke? i thought he was the mayor's son or something...

i mean it is working well for him now and he's been on a tear but i feel for the guy when he gets mauled

I don't know when he became broke but I think he first started talking about it this year. And since then he's been undefeated.

He pisses his money away on vehicles and hobbies. Also, I heard or read that he built a gym for his teammates and I think something went wrong or he needed a lot of money to fund it. It's on his ranch.

Not sure what psychological or financial state Cerrone was in during those losses.

Pettis and Bendo wreck him every time imo. They are just superior fighters.

I think he could beat Dos Anjos and Nate if he's on though.

I wouldn't necessarily say that he's broke as in he has no money. I think he just doesn't have cash. He's one of those guys that when he see's something he wants, he's gonna buy it. Like Van Ho said, he built his own gym on his ranch for some of his teammates and friends to use and before 2014 he was having a new house built from scratch, got a new truck and a new boat. And he's also gone on record saying he doesn't like credit or loans so he's paying for everything with cash in full upfront.

I remember listening to the Joe Rogan experience about Rogan talking about his loss to Pettis that he was mentally defeated when Pettis stare him down during one of the ufc event.

Can't say it enough but the WEC

I remember reading something with Cerrone talking about how he was close to retiring during that phase. He talked about how he wasn't motivated and he was just going through the motions while he was preparing for his fights.

Stun Gun just got destroyed, he's so reckless these days
laugh.gif
throwing wild strikes

Woodley did hit him right in the back of the head though on Stun Gun's spinning back fist, but it wasn't intentional. Definitely knocked him silly and it was all over after that. Woodley showed killer instinct with the ground and pound. So scary

Would like to see Lombard v Woodley next please

Bisping gave Cung that work, putting on a boxing clinic and finally finished in the 4th. Footwork is superior to Cung's, who is showing his one-dimensionality and perhaps age

Bisping still IMO would get destroyed by a number of guys (Weidman, Machida and Vitor) to name a few, Mousasi, Romero and Rockhold would also give him work. Kennedy already destroyed him

Bisping will become a gatekeeper after his next fight with any of the guys mentioned above. He does nothing elite. Best qualities are his boxing and footwork but that's not enough compared to his competition

I thought they were working on a Rockhold/Machida match.
True, that was the report a few days ago.

Rockhold seems legit upset at Bisping though

said he doesn't really care who he fights between Machida, possibly Jacre or Bisping

http://mmajunkie.com/2014/08/rockhold-to-bisping-put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is-kid

MACAU – Luke Rockhold  (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has an interesting proposal for Michael Bisping. (24-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC) If “The Count” wins on Saturday night, Rockhold would be happy to fight him next. And if Bisping can simply last five minutes, he can have Rockhold’s paycheck.

“I’ve got a wager,” Rockhold told MMAjunkie. “Bisping is grossly overpaid, comparably to where we are. So, I bet Michael Bisping, if I don’t finish you in the first round, you can have my purse. But if I do finish you in the first round, you give me your purse. So if I don’t finish you in the first round, whether I beat you in a decision or what, you get both of our purses. But if I do finish you in the first round, we switch purses, and I get yours.

“Let’s see if you’ve got some balls, kid. Bring it.”

Didn't watch the fight pass card

Was it really that bad for Cung? Makes me sad man...
Na wasn't like a beatdown of a lifetime or nothin like that. Cung's face just looked wretched though afterwards.

Bisping has precise boxing and showed solid footwork. Cung was like a stationary target. Didn't use his kicks to keep Bisping off balance at all.

Cung should retire but really this wasn't the type fight that puts him there, like he sustained any brain damage or anything. He should just retire because he's old and not in the slight bit elite.

Thats something they're starting to do recently. I guess they're hoping if they have a big name on the prelims and its a good fight, it'll entice you to buy the actual ppv.

And some fighters and even their sponsors prefer them main eventing the prelims. A lot of the time, the prelims get more viewers than the actual ppv so you get a bigger audience to showcase for. And unless you're a big time star like Jones, Silva, GSP, etc you're not getting a share of the ppv so it doesn't really matter if they're on the main card.

Where's @ChampCruThik
? Wanna hear his breakdown of the Alvarez/Cerrone fight.
Appreciate you reaching out. My take is tough opening UFC fight for Eddie to take off a 10-month layoff and recovery period. Alvarez will be anxious to prove after the contract disputes with Bellator. Eddie's boxing is nice but he takes unnecessary punishment, call it a pride thing. I like his striking, just don't think his standup defense is that tight or elite. I don't see Alvarez tapping Cowboy in any way, shape, or form. That result would truly surprise me. Although Eddie is likely the better wrestler of the two. I suppose Cerrone could tap Eddie, but that's not my hunch. I feel if Cowboy doesn't finish Alvarez in the first round and a half, Eddie wins a close decision by coming on late and settling in post-injury.

BTW, upset alert. Picking Diamond over KoD.

Stun Gun just got destroyed, he's so reckless these days  throwing wild strikes

Feared this was coming. Stun Gun is gaining fans, but losing wins on his resume and failing to preserve his body from long-term damage.

Spoke with Rockhold at 172. He feels there's unfinished with Bisping. Rockhold said Bisping talks too much. Only fight Luke would take other than a title shot. So this conflict has been brewing beyond months.

This is something that I expect to happen more in the future. Fighters are gonna become more reckless and start throwing wildly. Not only because that's what the fans wanna see but that's what UFC wants. A lot of fans and UFC don't wanna see wrestling and technical boxing, they want Kimbo style fighting. Except for Leonard Garcia, I can't think of many "brawlers" that have been cut even when on losing streaks.

It's sucks Le has to retire bushing made a mess out if him, so far this card to us good jame Vick looked good after Same time out max holloway is just how I thought this fight was gunna be

lol finished by omoplata

my old BJJ coach would of had us do shrimps for the rest of the class if we tapped to that
