Anyone think that Aldo vs Mendes fight should have been closer than the scorecards were? I mean damn, that knockdown after the bell shouldn't have counted. Aldo seemed gassed.

Nelson drinking during the fight?

So much whining man, I know it was that Sacramento support coming out but Mendes knew he was the inferior fighter last night you could tell in the interview.

*Mendes forced the Nova Uniao standout to bend further than anyone had before -- he landed 85 strikes, 77 of them significant, according to preliminary FightMetric figures -- but never could turn the tide in his favor. Aldo connected on a career-high 102 significant strikes, out-landing the challenger in every round but the fourth. The 28-year-old Brazilian has now won 18 consecutive bouts and remains firmly entrenched at or near the top of virtually every reputable pound-for-pound list.

Good to see Aldo aggressive, I honestly wish all of his fights could just be 3 rounds because then we'd see something special every time.

Dana White seems to lean towards Conor as the next contender.

*During an interview on Fox Sports 2, White said that Conor McGregor would “probably” receive the next title shot with a win over Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night in Boston on Jan. 18.

Sherdog's Matches to Make:

*Jose Aldo vs. Cub Swanson or Conor McGregor: Aldo aced his sternest test to date, as he met the hyper-aggressive Mendes with a steady diet of accurate, power punching combinations. He also stuffed seven of the eight takedown attempts from the Team Alpha Male export, turning their rematch into a kickboxing match. On the feet, Aldo’s quickness, technique and experience prevailed. He has successfully defended the 145-pound title on seven different occasions against a variety of would-be successors, from Mark Hominick and Kenny Florian to Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung. Swanson will meet Edgar in a UFC Fight Night headliner on Nov. 22 in Austin, Texas, and in victory would have the rightful claim as the No. 1 contender. Should Swanson stumble, McGregor would be in prime position to challenge for UFC gold, provided he can take care of business against Dennis Siver on Jan. 18 in Boston.

Aint nobody care to see Phil Davis vs. Anderson

the most random thing ever. Nobody want to see Davis hold Anderson down for 15 minutes. Nobody wants to see Anderson waste one of his last fights

Glover's career as a contender appears to be over since he's pretty old already. Dude got washed in every way imaginable by Davis

Aldo came to prove a point last night. Amazing show from both guys :smokin

Aswel as being an amazing athlete what surprised me is how well the guy can take it. Chad connected with shots that would put away most fighters at 145.

Phil calling out Anderson |I :smh: .........

Mendes landed only one take down, coming in the 5th round. Other than that he was outstruck in every round except the 4th

I mean, I guess you could give Mendes two rounds instead of one? Don't think it was all that close of a fight

I thought it was a closer split. 48-47 at best though.

Hmm...I wouldn't have been mad if they called that. But Aldo probably had a 48-49 depending on how you look at it. The most I'd give Mendes would be a 47.

He would've won if he pressed the fight more. Everyone knows about Aldo's conditioning thanks to his weight cut. He also wasn't throwing many leg kicks. And Mendes could've tried to take him down more for the GSP/Mr Wonderful/McDonald/Evans point fighting.

The refereeing was terrible. He clearly threw two punches after the bell. I mean he didn't even get a warning unlike the eye poke warning Mendes got.

And McGregor is a marked man. If he's smart, he should get another jobber fight than go for Aldo. Because he's done if he faces Edgar, Mendes or Swanson.

Conor knows his 15 minutes are almost up. Get pass Siver, get washed by Aldo, become a gatekeeper at 145.

Can't stand dude but I guess I can't knock his hustle. As Jalen Rose would say, get gettin those checks :smokin

yeah, but meh at the same time. I'd like to see him fight any of the top 5 guys before a title shot.

Maybe I'm just not a fan of his.. Maybe he deserves it. But I don't feel that way.
Well everyone's taken right now.. Cub/Frankie/Lamas all have opponents

I don't think Conor deserves it over Cub/Frankie/Bermudez though

Let's be real. We know how Uncle Dana works after the multiple title fights Chael Sonnen received and his working toward a Carano/Rousey title fight.

And to be honest, the best FW not named Aldo all have good wrestling and solid striking. There's a gang of fighters in FW, LW and WW that would starch him with their wrestling, BJJ or striking.

How about giving him Clay Guida? He's obviously declined but at least would be a solid matchup. Conner put out Diego Sanchez.

Does joe silva and the other matchmaker need dana and lorenzo's approval before matches are official?
