The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

My life is so boring these days, a UFC card is the highlight of my weekend

Hell, the WSOF card last weekend was my highlight

I'm pissed they aren't airing the weigh-ins, I can't record it since I'll be at work but I guess it'll be online

Damb I thought the same exact thing about Martins' family all training together. Then I felt like a little kid lol

When I heard about Martins' life more in depth, I really started to like him instantly. His wife is a quite a person. This is why I am going to hate to see someone take an L. Cowboy is pretty much my favorite fighter too. Gotta ride for the WEC boys.

Join the club. I'm on a tight budget after Atlantic City. So bars/clubs on hold for a while.

I need a girl that will at least attempt to watch MMA. For my sake.

Martins seems hungry. Fighting for his hometown and family. Desperate to prove himself in the UFC. Like a 6 fight win streak. I just don't like the Tibau and Trinaldo losses in the past. Yes, he's a different fighter but Cowboy has experience and good to great tools in the standup.

Lucky for me my girl doesn't mind it. She usually ******* about it and gives me crap for always watching it... but when it's actually on she'll sit down and watch after I had explained all the storylines to her

Got a group of girls coming over for the fights Saturday, and then hitting the bars

watching with girls who are down for the UFC is such a win. Always leads to drinking most likely because the girls get bored of what they're seeing on t.v.

May the force be with you E

Oh yeah, won't be an issue :pimp:

Need a Bendo win.

I kind of want Josh to win. Just for a change of pace. Ben's lost to Pettis twice already.

Last fight wasn't long or close really from what I remember. I only recall a vicious series of body kicks and an armbar.

Ross Pearson is injured so Michael Johnson is stepping in to fight Guillard.

Bold move imo. Very dangerous opponent who is no where in the rankings.

If he can out strike him though that's a significant feather in his cap.

Ricardo and Urijah got their work cut out :smh:

Ricardo doesn't stand a chance, imo. Faber at +250 is tempting though, Kid has been on a roll.

About to watch Road to the Octagon, will have some predictions later tonight.

Melvin/Pearson is cursed.

Not discouraging you because I'm tempted as well. But I don't see anything other than a Barao decision victory. Unless Bang has a solution for checking and countering Renan's vicious leg kicks. Faber is 0-2 in UFC title fights, Faber is 34 and exiting his prime, and Barao has finished Pickett, Wineland, McDonald.

I think Faber knows this is his last shot and will be gunning for a finish. The smart pick is Barao by decision, but this second scrap with Faber is his toughest yet in the UFC, imo.

Picks for Saturday:

Cerrone by TKO. Too big of a step up for Martins.

Gonzaga with the upset KO. Stipe didn't impress me against Big Country, Napao clips him.

Bendo by decision. Y'all know I'm not a huge Bendo fan, but he outclasses Thomson in damn near every facet of the game.

I only picked Cowboy by decision because Martins has been stopped/finished/KO'ed once in his career, and that was 6 years ago. No denying this is by far his biggest test since Tibau and Trinaldo.

Gotta respect Gonzaga's mindset. Kill or be killed. Always seeking finishes to excite fans. Nice to see him building a gym in Massachussets, showing a desire to teach the craft.

Martins seems tough as nails. If Cowboy can finish him then that would say a lot of about where Cowboy is at in my opinion.

I'm giving Martins that respect that if he loses, it'll be by decision.

I guess Melvin has beef with Johnson from their days as teammates with the Blackzilians

Michael Johnson has guts. Will fight anybody. Melvin, Khabib, etc.

For my dude Notorius:

Featherweight Tourney added to Bellator 110 on February 28th at Mohegan Sun.

Nunes vs. Bessette
Weichel vs. Cleve
Richman vs. Green
Yamauchi vs. Martinez

IMO, winner comes from the Des and Yamauchi side.

Featherweight World Title on March 14th:
Straus vs Curran

Dope. I see the winner coming from that side too, but you know these Bellator tourneys never work out as planned.

Nunes is a tough draw for the CT kid Bessette.

When did it become Barao vs Faber?!

I haven't been keeping up just seent UFC post ok fb :smh: was looking forward to Cruz's return.

Just watched the weigh-ins. Didn't get me that hyped for some reason but I'm ready for this card. Benson and Thomson did a terrible job hyping this fight hahahaha. Dude's were just making up random bad things to say about the other. Heart not even in it. Cormier was dropping all sorts of suspect comments throughout the broadcast

dude is always so happy go lucky

#5 Jake Ellenberger v #9 Tarec Saffiedine added to UFC 172 (Jones v Glover)

Edit: Just watched Dana in an interview from yesterday, said they are working to get Gilbert signed to a contract. I didn't know he was a free agent. Dana said if Thomson wins tonight, he's most likely #1 contender

Here's my picture of lightweight

Should Thomson win tonight, he gets the next shot at Pettis in the Summer

Should Benson win tonight, Gilbert steps in automatically for a shot at Pettis and they do like a TJ Grant v Khabib for the next #1 contender or put RDA against one of them if he wins his next match. I don't know the update on TJ Grant's injury

Diaz, Barboza, Johnson and Green still lurking
