The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

It makes no sense how fans can be made about these guys wanting to get paid.

Dana always has the leverage and those guys had to take whatever he offered. So when the tables finally turn and these guys finally get some leverage they have to use it.

Like how can you be mad that Bisping wants to get 4 million versus a couple hundred grand.

Fans only care about their entertainment they ain't care about their pockets

Agreed w/ everything in regards to fighters deserving to get paid.

Finding out that Rory got a grand total of 59k for going through that war and eventually getting his face destroyed by Robbie, that's the type of **** that makes it hard to be a fan of the sport.

I do want to see the best fights but I'm not a fan of dudes putting everything on the line, and possibly taking career and life-changing damage for pennies on the dollar.

Yeah understandable, it's just unfortunate that they can't see the fighters issues. I think what athletes in general go through especially MMA fighters to get to these points and the levels they reach are severely underrated.

I said the same thing in my initial post

Feel like their feelings for Conor are clouding things

Oh and Josie finally got his panties out of a bunch

His manager says he's looking to fight in Feb/March, they're waiting to see how McGregor/Alvarez plays out as well as Hollaway/Pettis

Josie just didn't want parts of Max :smh:

I honestly want to see max and Aldo

I know a lot of nt thinks Aldo washes him but i think max is ready to challenge him.. Pettis will be a good test

Wait, what? :x :smh: I hope they at least paid for all his medical

It'd be nice if you would have posted the full quote btw lol

"I'm assuming they're saying that I'm ducking Jacare," Bisping said. "I've never ducked anybody in my life. ... Next week, Yoel and Weidman are fighting. Whoever wins, either that guy, or Jacare, will be my next fight, make no mistake. But I'm not doing it in a few weeks."

Bisping literally said he'd fight anyone after he heals

That's mentioned in the article.
Right, but the author obviously is questioning bisping

Bisping doesn't owe anyone anything

No fighter does

If these guys were getting paid millions then sure, I'd feel differently. But in their current situation it's so easy for us or these writers to spout off on what a fighter should or shouldn't do. I guess I don't see it that way

So you see it your way and other people see it a different way.

Bisping isn't just a fighter. He's a champion.

Champions for the most part are held to a different standard.

Exactly why some people have been questioning the FW champions moves.

Saying you'd be willing to fight fighter "x" or fighter "y" on a date, but not fighter "z", when "z" is and has been the #1 contender realistically, is going to solicit some level of questioning.

Bisping knows it looks funny. He brought it up himself. I'm not judging him either way the same way I don't judge guys like Danny Garcia for the moves they make.

It's their lives, their careers.

But it's going to be part of the narrative.

I'm looking at it on from a broader perspective I guess

When you speak of champions being held to a different standard, it's relative to the way of thinking we've all been used to. If there was a different way in which fighters and ESPECIALLY champs are treated sure, I'll hold them to a higher standard

The problem is over the years we expect fighters to do certain things, expect champs to behave certain ways but it's all under a premise that Dana has established.. an enviornment without a fighters union .. a system in which fighters really don't have much leverage..

So when I see fighters speak out or speak up for themselves it's all fair game to me. Lord knows Dana would screw ANY fighter if it came down to it

I know where you're coming from.

But the guy just fought a 46 year old man who was 4-6 i his previous 10 fights in his first title defense.

And he wants to once again circumvent the best guy out there because of risk vs. reward.

To Conor's credit, he went from beating the best guy, to wanting to challenge the best guy 1 weight class up. The Diaz rematch was BS but he's back to at least trying to fight the best guy 1 weight class up.

Bisping is pushing it IMO with these antics. Not by calling out GSP but moreso by calling out Nick. Dude is about to go on 2 years not fighting and 5 YEARS since his last win.

Fighters union is way over due. Of course dana and owners don't want them to have one. These guys can't be making this money and paying for medical bills after fights. Get teeth knocked out and whatever else can happen in the ring. Dana has made his money he doesn't care anymore. All staff getting fired at headquarters. Just don't see this ending well. Can we also do away w rankings because that obviously has no pull on who fights who. Seems like the poor ufc 200 card was almost a turning point.

I thought ufc made up a health care plan a couple years back for fighters.

The fighters are too dumb to ever band together for a real union. They just care about now and don't see the big picture. I know the low level guys who are living paycheck to paycheck can't afford not to fight but the top and mid level guys can do something. Maybe the managers are the ones who should get the ball rolling and organize.

so vincent...

lets play ball here...

if bisping was offered 4million to fight Nick DIaz or Jacare...who you think he picking???

now if Luke or Chris or Yoel was champ....who you think they picking?

some guys pick winnable fights, some guys fight anybody

he was saying that hes going to fight either one of the top contenders next....because he has too lol

he running man...you can tell he really want weidman the most...who is probably the easiest fight for him out of the 4

and bisping FAAAAAR from broke, he already a multi millionaire....so he dont need red panty nights like some of these guys do....

I hate Bisping but dudes been a gatekeeper in the ufc for ten years with almost permanent eye damage. I applaud dude for trying to squeeze every penny he can out of this latest run.

Nothing wrong with what Bisping said considering he hasn't even been medically cleared yet. He's willing to jump on a money fight immediately if the UFC will make the fight and a doctor will clear it because these are massive events coming up (205 & 206). Who wouldn't want those PPV points and a fat paycheck fighting GSP or Nick DIaz? He probably could do fine off the couch for either of those fights, but fighting Jacare or the other top middleweights he does need a full camp.

Either way his next fight will likely be against the top contender and with a full camp.

All of these hypotheticals are pointless to me. You're saying that by wanting Weidman, he's picking winnable fights? OK man. Weidman is an easy fight all of a sudden

Main thing I care about is if a champ calls for a money fight, I don't blame him. Yes, I want the best fights but with how the fighter climate is at this point, I can't really be mad

And by the same token that you are roasting him for "running" because he simply said he would make less fighting Jacare, all of a sudden you're not giving him credit by saying he'd fight Jacare/Romero/Weidman? You picking and choosing which of his statements to get upset about

Bottom line is he hasn't held out yet or anything close to it in order to get a money fight. So let's pump the brakes on criticizing the man. And I really DON'T like Bisping as a fighter, I think he's one of the worst champs we've seen like ever
