The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I mean I can see DC taking him down but then what is he gonna do? Advance to mount and G&P his way to victory?

I don't think he can sub JJ, and JJ is no slouch wrestling either.

On the feet? DC doesn't stand a chance.  If he lets it stand hes gonna be eating knees and kicks until hes toast.

Overall I think JJ's leverage will be too much for DC in all aspects.
I could honestly see DC smothering the hell out of Jones on the mat, against the cage and make Jones carry him all fight long to a decision

I pray that doesn't play out

That means he has to take him down every round though.

He wants no part of leaning on JJ against the cage. The ground is his only hope.

This hilarious

DC all the way. Been waiting for this fight since DC stepped inside the octagon. :pimp:

hopefully he wins by some kind of gnp.

if jones wins ...then legend status for him :wow:

Jones already a legend

To cement GOAT status he needs to rematch and defeat Gus, after that there's not much else to prove at LHW (don't think beating Rumble would prove anything).. after that possibly dabble a bit in HW

Nah bruh i think Rumble is foreal.

We'll see how he fairs against Gus but the form he has shown so far would suggest he's a contender.

i just feel like its easier for jones to prepare for DC than it is for DC to prepare for Jones

i just dont see him rag dolling jones like he has everyone else

Finally got around to watching the Bones/DC videos VVH posted.

Didn't eem know that DC threw his shoe at Bones during the shenanigans in Vegas.

Ole boy was like

Man that argument they got into when they didn't realize they were still being recorded still gets me.

"You think I'm just gonna let you kill me Jon? I mean really."

I can't wait for Saturday man.

Condit

"You know, Nick Diaz is back in the picture and I was thinking about maybe after he fights Anderson Silva getting that shot at him," Condit told Albuquerque's KRQE News. "Doing a rematch and kind of settling the score."

Condit defeated Diaz via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) at UFC 143 to become the welterweight division's interim champion, but more than a few onlookers had it scored closer than that.

Ahead of the Woodley fight, Condit said UFC President Dana White informed him that Diaz had been offered the rematch, but turned it down.

"Nick, for whatever reason, I'm sure he's got his reasons, didn't take the fight," Condit said in March. "But in the future I would be interested in the fight. I think rematches are always intriguing, especially when they're close like that one."

Jones trolling

"I wouldn't necessarily say there's anything I like about him," Jones said. "I do respect that he's able to use his frame so successfully, being a short guy and thicker guy. When you look at him, his body type doesn't scream athlete. But he's been able to do some amazing things, both in the sport of wrestling and his MMA career."

"I think he can be somewhat of an inspiration for people who are built like him," Jones said. "It proves you can do great things. It's just the manner of your mindset and how you use your body."

Jon Jones can't dunk?

"I saw something the other day where Jon Jones said, Daniel Cormier's body doesn't look like an athlete," Cormier said. "Well, I can grab the rim of a basketball [hoop]. Jon Jones is 6-foot-4 and he can't dunk a basketball. So who's the athlete?"

For his part, Jones is willing to concede that he can't dunk. But he also says the question of whether one is an athlete can't be reduced to such simple terms.

"It's true, I've never been able to dunk a basketball," Jones said. "I've got no calves. Well, I mean, if we're going to take dunking a basketball and sum that up as being a better athlete, I'll give it to him, then. Last I checked, we didn't play on a court."

Jones figures Cormier is simply trying to engage in a little mental warfare.

"Cormier needs to do anything he can to build himself up," Jones said. "Right now, his mental game is important. So he's going to say a lot, he's a great talker, he's a commentator for a reason. Saying he's the better athlete, all right, who cares."

Machida vs Rockhold
pimp.gif

On Wednesday, Rockhold said the match is all but a done deal. While there's no official announcement as of yet, Rockhold strongly hinted in an interview with MMAFighting.com that we should expect the bout to be finalized sooner rather than later.

"There's a very good opportunity for that to happen real soon," said Rockhold. "I look forward to that happening really soon here. Keep your eyes peeled, I'm sure something will come up soon."

MW contenders lining up. I like it.

I been off all week, so the week feels like it's moving slow as hell.

Saturday....so close yet so far....

I've seen so many interviews with DC this week it's unreal how much media there is leading up to this fight

This was a good one with Ariel, I thought it was interesting when DC started talking about other fighters besides Jones, at LHW. DC started reflecting back on Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans, and the whole teammate vs. teammate thing. DC claimed that Gus asked DC if he could train at AKA and DC told him no. He knew they would eventually fight. Imagining Gus training with DC and Cain
eek.gif

DC said he's 11 pounds away from 205.. seems like his cut went pretty great and clean

Looks like all of AKA is in Vegas to support

Watching the DC and Jon interviews you can see that they have a lot of similarities .Both dealt with lost and failure and never being the best . Jon lucked up and got into MMA at a younger age and the rest is history .DC got introduced to it later and you can tell from the interview that he knows he is on the clock .He can't compete at a high level forever.

Honestly in a better world DC would have been a good mentor to Jon .Rashad and Jon had a good friendship that Dana took advantage of and used to promote a fight .I honestly think that is a huge regret Jon has .

Rashad was just insecure about the whole situation. Dana gave Jones a title shot because Evans got injured. Nobody forced Evans to feel betrayed by that. What, you expected Jones to decline the fight? This is why you don't train with a guy in your weight class if you aren't willing to fight him. DC told Gus they couldn't train, and DC moved to a different weight class to not fight Cain. That's how you handle it. Blaming Dana is silly
