The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

GSP is appreciated but in my personal GOAT it's between Anderson and Jones. Based on skill set, ability to finish and resume

I agree with Jones going to HW, I think he rematches Gus and then moves on to HW. What else is there to do at 205?

Judging off the press conference, Jones repeatedly stated making 205 was getting easier and easier. He said it was absolutely no problem making 205 and he plans to stay there for a long time. He also is highly aware of the Cain talk and said he believes he would defeat Cain and fight him in a heart beat. So obviously there's a bit of mystery there

He will face Cain eventually, I hope Cain runs through Werdum

Bones gonna Bones....

DC took it to the deep water but he got outlasted.

Love how Cerrone humbled Jury. Especially the slave master kicks at the end.

And Burkman is that rare level of tough where it's detrimental to your health. Most other dudes would have been out from some of the **** he ate :smh:

Jon Jones doesn't have 3 fights at LHW because he doesn't have 3 guys to fight. Especially if Rumble loses to Gus. If Rumble wins, I guess they could wait for Gus to work his way back up to rematch Jones down the road.. perhaps DC works his way back up for another crack. DC actually sounded resolute last night saying this will not break him and that he will stand across the cage from Jones again

I do agree though, HW doesn't have too many ideal matches either outside of Cain. There are a number of folks who think Werdum/JDS etc. would destroy Jones though, so that would be fun to watch

I don't think DC gassed out. I think he had the steam taken out of him.
3 rounds of efficient and hard body work.
I think had Jones attempted a sub I the 4th against the cage he would have gotten it. DC was DONE IN.

And I didn't even feel like DC won the 2nd. I just feel like he did better than he did in the 1st.

I basically had Jones winning every round.

I thought UFC 182 was boring and uneventful. The only fight that should of have happened was Jones vs Gus ... But of course they have to catch the hype train ...

Every other card was sorry as ****.

DC really didn't have much for Jones outside of a few nice dirty boxing uppercuts. He couldn't take Jones down AT ALL. So impressive of Jones. DC said he would take him down 100 times out of 100

Yeah, those uppercuts lead me to believe there are some holes in Jones' standup game and Rumble's uppercuts are Ryu Hadoken status but Rumble in a 5 round fight? Let's be real with his cardio. Jones would wear him out. IMO it would devolve into a prayer Home Run shot for Rumble ala JDS v Cain. Let's see how Rumble does against Gus in a 5 rounder

Gus is the guy man. Jones knows it, he's going straight back to the gym to train

And yes, UFC 182 as a card was pretty sad. Just a continuation of the bad cards we got in 2014

Credit to Jones' chin, doesn't get spoken about often but the guy can flat out take a punch. Sometimes when he gets clipped he has an expression on his face like he's telling himself that **** didn't hurt.

Also like how he fires back whenever he does get clipped also.

No I still hate his guts.

Seemed like a good dude

Agreed.

Jones knows his size advantage is what gives him the edge in every fight. He knows exactly how to utilize his body to completely take away his opponents game plan and strengths. It makes up for his horrendous boxing and lack of head movement.

He doesn't have the with Gus. Size and reach is void. Gus' boxing is on abother level compared to jones. Jones needs to work on that head movement if he is going to stand and traDE with Gus again. Otherwise he better take that man down for the ground and pound.

Which is true, but those heavyweights are a whole different animal compared to what JJ is used to. Its all hypothetical right now but I think those guys like JDS and especially Cain would take him out
i agree it's definitely easy to look at a fight vs Velasquez and think Jones wouldn't be able to do it, but that's how a ton of his fights are and then he ends up making it look easy.  Cormier was gonna take him down and dominate, heard the same about Chael Sonnen.  You can just never count the guy out no matter how much it looks like he is going to be outmatched

If Cain didn't exist there's a good chance Cormier would be champion at HW.

It's all speculation of course but this win over DC makes the transition to being an Elite HW a lot more realistic imo.

Jones still going at DC

hey DC brought it on himself for the things he said. Gotta live with the consequences

Head up DC

Both are perfect examples of a true MMA fighter

is it me or there is way less KO / TKO nowadays. It seems like we barely see any anymore compared to 5-6 years ago.

maybe it's just me :\

Probably less

Fighters are evolving more and more rapidly, techniques are getting tighter and tighter, you aren't going to see as many fighters leave themselves vulnerable as previously as a result

"everybody who bought a Cormier shirt, you wasted your money, take it back"
-Jon Jones

That was a cool shirt though. So reebok makes shirts for both opponents. I wouldn't wear any of jones shirts even if someone paid me.

It seems that way, the big fights anyways. I feel the sport is going through a phase where it's really tough for the fighters to be elite in everything, as the athletes that do train in all disciplines are essentially Kids today. It seems in the prelims there are more knockouts because there are skill differences between opponents. But in the higher elite level guys aren't SO GOOD that they can overcome their opponent's passivity
