Whatever, hearing baldy and rousey try to justify why Gina deserves an immediate title shot again will be good for laughs. If they just said she's hot and a big name then i'd respect their honesty if they did try to have her leapfrog contenders.
 
Speaking of Carano, just read Dana's comments about how they're gonna get the deal done this week and how the deal is held up by her pain in the *** hollywood lawyer. He doesn't like her lawyer, cause the firm she's represented by also represents Oprah and Tyler Perry. So they're gonna get the best deal from UFC. His rants and crap isn't gonna scare them.

I doubt Gina gets a title shot, shes not cutting down to 135...wasn't she even struggling to get to 145? :lol:

tbh I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Gina get destroyed even by a gift opponent. Who even knows how she'll look at 135. It's a different landscape than it was when she was fighting in Strikeforce

Even a prime, inshape Gina Carano would get wrecked by Ronda. And like others have said no way she makes 135.

There's so little talent that they can't even make a separate weight class for the bigger female fighters. If they complain that cyborg can't cut down to 135 then have fun with carano struggling to get there too. Carano's weigh-ins were also nice events.
 
I always thought they should've created a 140 lb division for the women. It would've allowed them to include the 135ers and most of the 145ers. But yeah I don't expect Carano to make 135 lbs. While she was fighting and training regularly, she had problems making 145 lbs. Ronda has said she'd move up in weight for the Carano fight so maybe thats what the plan is.

And now some movie studio has concerns with Carano signing. They're worried that Carano losing to Rousey would hurt her image as a action hero. So not only does UFC have to come to an agreement with Carano but the studio also has to sign off on it.

Is it just me or are some tv cards better than ppv cards? Shouldn't it be the other way around? 176 got canceled because of the injury to Aldo but also partly because the rest of the card was lackluster. I know 177 isn't finalized yet but apart from Barao/Dillishaw its a fight pass type card so far. But then you look at the fight night card a few days later and it has Mousasi/Jacare, Overeem/Rothwell, Lauzon/Chiesa, and features other notable names like Natal, Mitrione, Lentz, Oliveira, and Iaquinta.

Yeah it was before they made the Alexis Davis matchup and were trying to sign Gina. She talked about how she would make certain exceptions for Gina that she wouldn't make for any others like moving up in weight. And how she believed Gina deserved an immediate title shot because she's a pioneer and did a lot for mma.

Also excited that Holm is on the UFC roster. No way should she fight Ronda off the bat, but in some time she can give her a run for her money.


She's already easily the most dangerous striker in the female's batamweight division. A lot of pro boxers have trouble making the transition to MMA because of the range at which they're used to boxing at. Holm having that kickboxing background negates that learning curve as she's already from what I've seen from her able to adapt her boxing very well to MMA.


That 7-0 record doesn't have much substance outside of Juliana Werner. She definitely needs a year or so before Rondo is brought up. She'd get taken down and finished with the quickness.
 
White Responds To Nate Diaz
"The Download" with Dana White is a weekly UFC.com exclusive interview with the boss, providing fans with a look inside the UFC universe with the man himself. This week Dana talks about Nate Diaz, Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey, Floyd Mayweather and more.

We're less than 24 hours away from Fight Night Atlantic City, where hometown hero Jim Miller takes on Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. It's a must-win main event for both fighters, who hope to continue their climb up the lightweight rankings.

Early Tuesday morning, lightweight Nate Diaz had some choice words for Cerrone, who he beat by decision back in 2011.


UFC President Dana White said Diaz is way off base. Cerrone is professional, White said, going hard to earn a living and making a lot of money in the process.

"Nate can do whatever he wants to do. Nate can sit out and not suck any UFC whatever, for as long as he wants to. Who cares, he's a grown man," White said. "Sit out for as long as you want, sit out the rest of your career, it's your decision. But to start making fun of guys who actually like to fight, and guys who go out there and put on unbelievable fights and people love to see him? (Cowboy) steps up and does what he does. People love Cowboy Cerrone.

"Nate wants to talk about making money, but there's only one way to make money, and that's fighting."

On new UFC acquisition Holly Holm

White was surprised at the reaction to Holm's signing following the announcement last week. He said it was way bigger than he expected and he's excited that people are so into the women's division.

As far as Holm the fighter, White said she brings an exciting stand-up style into the Octagon and should be very entertaining.

"She's a boxer with great hands and great kicks," he said. "There are a lot of questions about her ground game, but we're going to find out about her. She's in the UFC now, and she's without a doubt one of the most talked about women out there, and I'm excited. The women's division has been fantastic and the women always deliver. The fights are great and Holly will make a great addition."

On Ronda Rousey

When Rousey heard the news that the UFC signed Holm, White said the women's bantamweight champion was ecstatic. With White also set to meet with Gina Carano this week, the division is starting to stack up nicely for Rousey, who is looking to further build her impressive resume.

"She loves it. Ronda wants to fight Gina, she wants to fight Holly and whoever else is perceived as some of the best in the world," White said.

After Rousey's demolition of Alexis Davis at UFC 175, she jumped up to No. 9 in the overall pound-for-pound rankings, sparking a debate across the MMA world concerning her position and whether she should be even higher.

White said her spot at No. 9 is somewhat questionable.

"She's higher than number nine in the pound-for-pound. She's undefeated, she's finished every fight in devastating fashion, but it's still a man's world, man," White said. "The media is never going to put her higher up in the rankings. The media decides it, and Ronda, being a woman, has had to fight harder. If there was a guy that was on the streak that Ronda was on, he'd be the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, like that. But because she's a woman, these guys aren't going to give her the credit she deserves."

On Floyd Mayweather

Ever since White said Ronda Rousey could beat Floyd Mayweather in an MMA fight, fans and media alike have been chiming in on the potential outcome if "Rowdy" and "Money" ever clashed.

Although it would never happen, it hasn't stopped people from asking the question. On Tuesday Mayweather had an interesting comment when asked about a fight against Ronda.



White wasn't surprised at Mayweather's response.

"What's Floyd going to say? That's a lose-lose situation for Floyd," White said. "For him to even acknowledge that he knows who Ronda is, and that she could possibly beat him in a fight, ya know, that's what I'd expect him to say."

On Chris Weidman

Going into Weidman-Machida at UFC 175, White was very vocal about how fascinated he was with the matchup. He said there's no doubt after that fight that Weidman is the real deal, and if people are still doubting him they're crazy.

"Anderson twice and now Lyoto Machida, not too shabby," he said. "It went five rounds, Machida has that elusive style. He clipped Anderson, he didn't clip Machida and he didn't knock him out. I wanted to see how Weidman was going to be able to cut the cage off and if he'd be able to get to Machida. From the first round on he did. He hunted him down, and he hurt him every time he hit him in that first round. The kid's never been five, and he was tough enough to go five rounds, because he was exhausted by the end of the third and he toughed out those last two rounds."

White said that next up Weidman will get his wish and defend his belt against Vitor Belfort, if "The Phenom" can get cleared to fight.

"How do you not respect that too, you got to love Weidman," White said about Weidman wanting to fight Belfort. "Anderson Silva twice, beats Machida, and now is actually calling for Vitor Belfort? That's a fight that should happen. The champ wants it, we want it and the fans want it. Now it's a matter of getting Vitor licensed."

On Conor McGregor

White is heading to Dublin on Wednesday and said he is excited for the card this Saturday, especially the main event.

"Conor is in a tough fight this weekend," he said. "He's been out for over a year with the ACL, he's fighting in his home town and obviously for Diego Brandao, this would be a big f**king win for him. To go into Ireland in the main event and beat Conor McGregor, it puts this kid right back on the map."

I'm really curious to see the actual numbers after Nate's last fight. It really doesn't make sense for him not to fight, but if his contract is as low as he says it is, then I can understand why he hasn't. The UFC has their guys and you can see that when the numbers are released.
 
Nate said he makes $60k to show/$60k to win. So he can make $120k if he wins. 

From the average salary point of view thats a good sum of money but idk if its worth it to them. You figure 8-15% to agents/managers. Then they have to pay coaches and gym fees. Then they have travel, hotel, and visa/passport (for international fights & international fighters) expenses cause ufc only pays for the fighter and I think 1 coach to get to the event. On top of all of that they have to pay taxes just like everyone then an additional 15% (its probably gone up. Thats the % from 08 when I was in college) self employment tax cause they're independent contractors.

not only that, but the diaz brothers are serious about their nutrition. 100% organic, gluten free and all that other hippie food aint cheap.

Personally think thats low for Nate DIaz, he's a draw and a headliner for the fight nights and televised ufc events. With the lack of star power and crappy cards, they need to pay the man. Quit being cheap Dana. The guy has fought almost 20 times in the UFC and brings it every fight, never seen a bad Nate fight. Give the man a new contract. 
 
For real diaz brothers always come to scrap too. It's always a entertaining fight when they're fighting.
 
The problem with Diaz is that he just signed a 8 fight contract. He should've did like Gilbert and just let his contract run out. Then he could've gone out and got money from somewhere else with the hopes that UFC matches. I like the Diaz brothers as fighters, but normally dislike all the crap that they say, but this time I completely agree with them. Everyone knows that fighter pay has been a problem for a long time but no one says anything. You have guys making $8k a fight and then you see Dana bragging about having snow brought in to his house for his kids. 

A former fighter, Josh Cholish released these numbers a while back talking about how bad pay is. He got paid $8k to fight. $8k-$8k (training camp costs)-$4k (traveling expenses to Brazil)-$2160 (international taxes)= -$6160. So basically he had to spend $6k of his own money to fight and thats not adding in the 10-25% income tax and the 15% self employed tax. Thats why you see Woodley pimping out "Dude Wipes". They need the sponsorship money.
 
In relation to salary, I recall Weidman earning $12K/$12K for beating "Spider" the first time.

Don't forget to tune-in tonight, boys. Heart says "Cowboy," head says Miller.
