The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Watching the post fight conference, Conor got me more on his side. Dude is must see t.v. Ready to see him take on any of Lentz, Lamas, Aldo, Mendes, Frankie or Cub

Happy for Cat. Those two front headlock throws she had were nice to watch. Like someone said, they looked like ddt's.

That crap romero's corner pulled was some amateur bs. mccarthy should've went up to romero right away and made him stand up and thrown the stool at his corner guys.

mcgregor got that notre dame fighting irish stance.

Who was that woman in a dress sitting next to pettis? She was looking real nice.

That's it? The top of the division are a bunch of beasts. Would like to see how he does against Edgar or mendes' takedowns or the striking of Swanson / Aldo.

That the division is full of rookies and has-beens, and that he would dominate Mendes and Aldo.

Just listen to the whole conference if you have the chance, he explains himself pretty honestly in terms of why he talks the way he does. He clearly does all of this talk for the money and more build-up, he said he respects everyone. He was baffled at why Dustin took everything so personal. He said he doesn't hate anyone and that Dustin should have realized they're all in this for the same reason and chasing the same dream (to become the best and make a lot of money in the process).

People tend to take the buzz words from things and it paints an entirely different picture. IMO Conor is operating a lot like Chael, the confidence in his ability and the critique of other fighters. Chael used to say outrageous things about other fighters but if you listened to everything he said a lot of it was true. Conor explained a lot about why he feels the way he does about Aldo and Mendes, and I actually ended up agreeing with most of it.

McGregor 3 piece :smh: :pimp:

That whole card was entertaining as ****

Not gonna lie when the co-main finished i was kinda indifferent about watching the main event but Mighty Mouse did his thing.

Dom Cruz performance was pretty staggering given the lay off. Plus the fact he's always been labelled a point fighter and that Mizugaki can take the beats, to deliver in that manner was phenomenal.

Zingano showed out also. Weathered the storm and showed excellent grappling and control.

The Goat.... "New breed of fighting Irish" :pimp:

Cerrone did his thing after the usual slow start. Them counter knees to the body come through so fast :x

That was prob the best card top to bottom in a while, Connor killing it w the suit and his mic game he's kinda got a point w the rookies and has been's line lol gotta love cowboy bud heavy all day

178 was probably the first card that I paid for in a while and it didn't disappoint at all.

Really hoping that the commission doesn't overturn the Romero/Kennedy fight. What Romero's corner did to buy him time was shady but smart. But Kennedy lost because he came out in the 3rd thinking Romero was completely done for and he left himself open. It sucks for him, but Kennedy needs to accept that he lost and stop posting and talking about NAC rules and how Big John ****** up. During every fight some rule is broken or overlooked. Just like Kennedy grabbing onto the wrist part of Romero's glove, stopping him from protecting himself as Kennedy hammered him with uppercuts. I'd post the gif but I don't think its allowed since its during the fight and considered UFC property.

Romero got a chin though :smh:

Son took fight finishing punishment and with 90 seconds recovery time he was good money

That **** was handled poorly but what can you do?? I could see a fine put over turning decisions is kinda OD.

Romero is the man, he's so humble and loves the fans... but that was definitely some b.s.

He should have taken the L for not answering the bell. I mean I could understand a few seconds but to sit there for a half minute is

status. Regardless of what the UFC cut man was trying to do with his cut..

I wanted Romero to win for sure but not under these circumstances. Now we probably have to wait for a b.s. rematch. I hate rematches most of the time

"You don't need a tumb to fight."

"I love my job. I whoop people for truckloads of cash. How could I hate this life?"

Damn, I'm a bigger Notorious stan than I was going in to Saturday.

What a great night of fights. Was great to see Cat and Dom get back on track. :smokin Both should get shots at the title next, IMO.

That Romero/Kennedy fight was a mess :smh: After seeing that Kennedy was holding Yoel's glove and the fact that the commission was really at fault with the stool, I think Yoel deserves to keep the W.

Conor, man... Dude is absolute gold on the mic and can back it up the cage. It would make sense to give him another fight before a shot at the strap, but he is on fire right now, he might get the Aldo/Mendes winner.

Cowboy lumped Eddie up. I was surprised. Alvarez didn't seem as aggressive as usual, but Cowboy chopping up his leg might have had something to do with that.

Cariaso had no business being in that slot with DJ. Sorry. Seems like a good dude, aggressive fighter, but he was simply outclassed. I couldn't believe someone didn't get him to a tailor before fight week. His suit was a travesty, especially with Conor stunting on everyone.

Dawg, Curioso's choppa suit had Jordan rolling over in his grave. Someone should have slapped the hell out of him for even owning that thing

We have these matches lined up:

Aldo/Mendes- October 25

Cub/Frankie- November 22

Lamas/Bermudez- November 15

Conor fighting any of these dudes will be
pimp.gif
the division is just

If Aldo wins, Dana gonna **** on Cub and Frankie and give Conor that title shot. Let's be honest with ourselves lol. It would definitely hurt my feelings but you can't say no to what would probably be one of the best PPV's in recent history. It could sell out any stadium in either Ireland or Brazil.

But with three high profile fights in the next 2 months, a ton of things could happen. Gotta let it play out and Conor can heal up his tumb. Imagine what he would have done to Cole Miller

Unpopular opinion, but I've long felt Gunnar Nelson is a better fighter at 170 than Conor McGregor at 145. Elite grappler, tightening up his standup defense. I know Maia is the only one to ever tap Rick Story, a top-level wrestler, but Nelson will be second. His win over Akhmedov really impressed me.

Cung Le tested positive for HGH. After all of those pics of him looking jacked before the Bisping fight I gave him the benefit of the doubt

I would like to see Conor get tested against a true wrestler but right now I don't think Gunnar has the upside that Conor does. And I like Gunnar. We will see how his fight goes on Saturday.. I would love to see Gunnar and Conor both get higher comp

Frankie's had too many title fights
He's that good of a point fighter. He deserves to continually be a contender

Dawg, don't tell me that

dude might as well have came out with that **** when those pics dropped

You my dude, VVH. I'd bet the house "Money" Mendes handles Conor in dominant fashion with top control throughout.

During the pre-fight show they kept talking about how mcgregor was too big for dustin, he didn't look that much bigger to me. He has the height advantage against Edgar and mendes but mendes is strong as hell.

Conor's size is somewhat overblown but it's definitely true that he is a large featherweight. He loves to talk about moving up and his coach is crazy saying he could win three different titles in three classes

"I don't like making this weight. I like fighting at lightweight. I fought at lightweight many times in my career. I'm fast at lightweight. I come in refreshed at lightweight. It's a different camp. It's a different build up when I'm fighting at lightweight than it is fighting at featherweight. I'm definitely open to fighting at lightweight no doubt. I don't feel over-sized by the lightweights, so definitely."

Something tells me Frankie and Cub about to be pissed
laugh.gif

"For now, McGregor still has plenty of business to take care of at Featherweight, as he will be flying to Brazil to be Octagon-side as Jose Aldo defends his title against Chad Mendes at UFC 179 on Oct. 25, 2014, in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

And something tells me "Notorious" isn't making the long trip just to take in the fights, but perhaps take part in-cage challenge against the winner of the main event championship fight."
