Kennedy might retire?

Jacare v Romero

Regarding Kennedy,
Kennedy is scheduled for surgery on his right knee, due to a partially torn meniscus, over the next week or two.

However, as reported on UFC Tonight by Ariel Helwani on Wednesday, Kennedy gave no timetable for a return, or even if he would return.

"I'm not sure," he said, "but that has nothing to do with my knee."

Kennedy, who has wins over names like Michael BispingRoger GracieMelvin Manhoef  and Robbie Lawler, would have been in the top middleweight tier with a win over Romero. But now, at 35, coming off the loss, the former U.S. Army Green Beret isn't committing to anything going forward.

When asked if his plans were to take a sabbatical from the sport, or if he would ever fight again, Kennedy replied, "No idea."
I think the fight with Romero is smart for Jacare. If anything happens to Belfort he'd be the obvious choice to replace him cause he's already training to fight. And if he goes out there and beats Romero, the timing works out perfectly for him to get the next title shot cause he's fighting on the same card as Belfort/Weidman, barring any injury sustained during the fight to him.

Romero vs. Jacare is a great fight. Tough call. I like Romero's wrestling. I'd say it's a wash on the stand up. Obviously, Jacare is great on the jujitsu.

Looking forward to UFC 181-184. It sucks that the 180 card was devastated by injuries.

Jacare vs Romero

Does that become a kickboxing match by default?

I'm taking Jacare via fight IQ.

That Jacare/Romero fight is going to lead to some sort of violence. Saw Jacare in person in CT and am a true believer. The ground scrambles alone will be worth the price of admission.

As far as the 205 picture goes, Mauler decisions Rumble. His movement is so damn smooth. He can easily evade Johnson's power.

But as far as DC goes, he has a better shot than some people give him credit for against Jones. I can see him picking Jones up off those toothpick legs and tossing him around a bit. But who know what will happen when the cage door closes.

Oh and WAR HUNTO.

Yes, I think DC has a chance to wrestle his way to a W against Jones. It's just insane how easily he's wrestled other wrestlers. Obviously will be different against Jones but I don't think it's going to be some easy W.

No way some All American is going to compete with an Olympian. DC's wrestling is crazy. His stand up is on point too but he does break his hand occasionally.

His issue is going to be the eye pokes/dirty strikes, reach advantage and possibly JBJ's cardio.

DC is also a hell of a grinder/dirty boxer lately. It should be a great fight. And one of those matchups where the hype is legitimate.

Dog, I think I'm all in on Bermudez. He looks crazy explosive.. scary. Wrestling, striking, athleticism, youth, timing..

We shall see!

Watching the Embedded episodes and Lamas calling Conor a piece of **** in Spanish had me dying

Conner with the Blueprint these clowns are following.

I watched Bermudez talk to Helwani. It's like hip hop right now in that division. A lot of "journalists" are pushing these fighters to talk that ish to get those top fights and draw PPV dollars.

So predictions for Hunt/Werdum?

I like Hunt but he like most of the division can't really hang with the top dogs in the division (DC, Velazquez, Junior and lesser extent Werdum).

"Bones" biggest strengths are athleticism and adaptability. His fight game is so wide and diverse creating unpredictability. Jones dug deep against Gus for a controversial win, dominated Glover and neutralized his power, etc.

DC ain't the one, IMO. He isn't going to rag-doll "Bones" in my perspective. Not undermining his wrestling, just believe in Jones' fight intelligence and ability to gameplan for his opponent prior to a fight.

Sig/avy bet for a week, MMA-related? I take "Bully," you got "Dennis the Menace."

I figured Melvin Guillard would've grown up by now but dude is still immature. First he said that he's an A list fighter, fighting in a B league. Now he missed weight for the second fight in a row so the title fight is now a non-title fight and he lost 50% of his purse.

Rumble has the best shot against JJ. DC has a shot if JJ tries to play his game like he did with Glover. I thought JJ won against Gus clearly in the first fight and I don't see Gus doing better.

Rumble with his head straight is imo the only dude that has a 50/50 shot at JJ.

Not sure about anyone else but I have about zero interest in watching Hunt fight Werdum.

tbh, I hate to say it but I don't think Rumble has any shot at dethroning Bones. I see Bones winning any way he wants to

Champ, I don't wanna bet

but I'm hyped for that fight more than the main event

Didn't JBJ say he was lackadaisical leading into the fight with Gustafson?

I felt like JBJ won the first fight. Gus definitely brought it to him and took him to the limit. Gus won two rounds for sure.

Also, JBJ's other unimpressive win was against Rashad Evans. I think DC is similar but with superior wrestling and possibly better striking. I agree that JBJ is definitely athletic and he definitely varies his attacks. His reach and dirty strikes probably play into it. He's definitely dominated his division. I'd still take JBJ against Davis, Cormier, Gustafson and Johnson. But anything is possible especially if the person can neutralize his wrestling or striking.

You thought Bones' win over Evans was unimpressive? Evans won maybe one round at best, Bones thoroughly dominated him in every faucet. You have high standards bro, lol

I'm saying though. Dude, "Bones" practically shut out Rashad on the scorecards. 49-46 at absolute best, and even that's being generous to "Sugar."

Kinda drawing a blank on the Jones/Evans fight but didn't Jones dominate the entire fight? If I remember right, he completely shut down Rashad's wrestling and the one "takedown" Rashad got was really Jones pulling guard.

Yes man, he shut Evans out completely.

Jones hit him with several elbows standing. Evans almost got KO'd

Jones randomly pulls guard

I believe he did that against Shogun? Or Rampage too

Werdum sub 2 (armbar). Ellenberger KO 1. "Bully" Lamas 29-28, but sub 2 (guillotine) if you really wanna impress me.

Garcia TKO 1. Montano sub 1 (RNC).

Werdum is so damn nice and hespectful. Cain showed up to the media day on crutches and Werdum wanted to take a pic with him, said he follows Cain on IG but he won't follow back lulz

I honestly hope to see Hunt lose. I like him, as a person and a fighter, but look, we were hoping Werdum was at the top of his game second only to Cain. If Werdum can't put Hunt away coming off three weeks notice I'll be really disappointed.

The fighters have been unusually cordial to one another watching the Embedded series. Pretty interesting. Hunt and Werdum dancing together, Lamas and Bermudez hugging taking pics together. Lots of happiness all around in Mexico City.
