The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Working with Phil Nurse must have seen sick. Was he rocking the MJ hoop earrings at the time? 8)

He was!

VERY nice guy.

These guys need to get off that animal protein. **** is killing their tendons and bones.

Dump that bro science backed paleo, it's ruining careers in the octagon and lives outside the octagon.

What would you say is the better alternative? Plant based?

100% plant based whole foods diet.

Especially to the guys that have trouble staying physically healthy.

Would also help with weight cuts. Johnny would probably be able to walk around closer to his fight weight. He'd naturally have way more energy in his fights and wouldn't have to worry about his body giving out on him.

The benefits are endless.

You're 5'9. You probably shouldn't weigh 218 pounds as a world champion fighter. I would wager he gets even higher than that.

Johny Hendricks @JohnyHendricks
@TheDolceDiet is amazing. The responsibility is all mine. I was 218lbs and waited too long to start eating properly.

Johnny was eating a crap diet, weight till the very last minute to get his diet clean, then had to cut a ton of water weight to make 170. None of those things are a result of me ingesting meat.

Bone density and joint/tendon strength and durability are direct results of dairy/meat consumption.

So is his weight. Cholesterol only comes from animal protein. Not only that but human bodies don't digest the animal protein properly, as a result it's stored as fat.

Smh. Brah it just seems you are most interested in pushing your personal beliefs about dieting instead of judging the situation.

Johnny is openly saying that he eats like **** when he is not training, and allows himself to balloon to 20lbs heavier than necessary. This has nothing to go with his meat consumption.

This is the first and only time Hendricks claimed his body has "shut down"on him. Secondly that might be BS because he just looked like he was trying to stall to get a decision, stuff he used to so before the started knocking fools out.

Most pro/oly/mma athletes are meat eaters, Johnny's meat eating has never been a problem before. So i just don't understand the point your trying to make, other than pushing your own personal beliefs.

So what are you trying to say, if he didn't eat meat, he wouldn't balloon up and the cut would be easier? Well he himself is saying that is he eat a cleaner meat included diet, he would achieve the same results.

Plus someone can still be vegan and fat.

-I'm not even going to go into a diet debate with you but your comment the benefits are endless kinda ignores the downsides of being on a vegan diet, especially for a pro athlete

Definitely agree you can eat vegan and still be fat.

Wasn't even trying to derail the thread. I made a small point and someone asked me to elaborate.

You don't even know if I'm "vegan" or not so it me pushing beliefs or your perception? Rhetorical lol don't want to continue to derail the thread.

And I dunno that Pettis eatiing animal protein had something to do with braking his hand. Dude punches hard and might't just landed one on a bad angle.

Glad it's just a hand though. Thought it was going to be another knee injury.

Dos Anjos if he wins or Khabib.
If RDA beats Diaz, it's going to be a tough call between RDA and Khabib. Someone going to get left out, which is unfortunate because both men would be deserving. Assuming the next title fight would be held in April or May, I doubt either of them want to wait then until September or October for the next shot.

What were they talking about?
Rogan basically told Schaub to his face that he wasn't elite and that he can't beat the top of the division. Which was obvious, but nonetheless awkward to watch.

Schaub just had to sit there and take all that criticism. Rogan pretty much listed all of Schaub's weaknesses.

Also, Rogan hinting that he may leave the UFC because he's disturbed by the brain damage

Rogan, himself, seemed to allude that his days calling fights for the UFC might be coming to a close sooner than later.

"I always wonder how much longer I'm going to do this, anyway," said Rogan. "The one thing that I'm conflicted about, this is a hard thing to say, but [brain trauma] is the one thing I'm conflicted about when it comes to fighting. As I get older and the more I understand about the damage that people take...

"I still love the sport, I still love watching it, still love all the complexities, the battle and struggle. Guys rising above and getting better, the discipline and focus that's required to reach a true, excellent state, but it disturbs the s**t out of me. What I'm saying to you [Schaub] today is not just for you. It's to put it in the heads of a lot of people that don't want to hear that s**t. There are a lot of guys out there that are hanging around a bar or gas station or wherever the f**k they go with their friends and they hung around too long. And everybody knows it."

Damn. He gave schaub too much realness. Didn't know he was concerned about the brain damage issue of the sport.

Repped for the info.

You know what was strange to me listening to that 2 hour podcast, Rogan is absolutely independent in his views on his employer. Like, you would think he would suck up and defend the UFC and that Rogan would have the inside word on the company but it's not like that.

Rogan knew absolutely nothing about the Reebok deal. Schaub had no idea. Rogan had no idea if the deal was good or bad for the fighters. There were other small comments about fighting and the UFC in general that surprised me, like he had no regard for who his employer was.

Maybe he is leaving soon or he's made it known to the ufc he won't be a puppet like all those fox sports people. I respect it.

I rarely listen to podcasts but that exchange between Rogan and Schaub was good. Rarely do you hear ppl that work for UFC or associated with them talk openly and honestly about things. UFC is probably upset with both Rogan and Schaub. Rogan for bringing up brain trauma and how he's conflicted about it. And Schaub for talking about how he lost a bunch of sponsors because of the uniform deal.
Maybe he is leaving soon or he's made it known to the ufc he won't be a luppet like all those fox sports people. I respect it.
He said that he doesn't know how much longer he's gonna continue doing what he's doing because of the brain trauma he thinks is associated with fighting. Plus I think deep down he's pissed off at Fox for trying to change the way he commentates. Not only do they have him wearing suits now but a while ago he said Fox execs told the producers to tell him to tone down how he talks and acts when commentating.

Crazy podcast for sure. These two little comedian dudes plainly criticizing a HW, alpha type pro fighter, it was very bizarre. Fair points brought up all around but I think Rogan and the comedian reached on a few. As a pro fighter to hear two people asking you to pretty much quit, who are your buddies, I mean that's tough.

How the hell did Schaub and Rogan become such close friends anyway?

 so random

I almost felt bad for Schaub even though I really don't care for him
