I had to make a compromise with the gf to go on a long walk with her along the coast during the day so we could be home in time to watch all the sports

Going to pick up some BBQ Tri Tip and greens before we get home too

Looking ahead, I'm going to pass on 184 but 185 card is relatively stacked to me.

Bendo reminds me of Frankie when he was at LW.
Their two fights were a nightmare to score. Both times out, I could see 48-47 either way.

Edgar absorbing that up-kick. Ouch, granite chin.

I can guarantee you Bendo is one of the furthest non champion fighters in the UFC from being cut. He can lose this fight and still be maybe 2 or 3 more bad losses in a row from being cut
Not to mention Bendo is a consummate professional. Just in 2015, made no qualms about Cerrone as a late replacement for Alvarez despite discovering this revelation from the media and not Dana himself. Lost a controversial decision, but gave a classy post-fight interview stating he'll get better and continue moving forward. Jumps at the 170 opportunity with far from ideal circumstances to prepare for Thatch's unique stand-up, having fought less than a month ago against Cowboy.

I'm not feeling the move up anyway. He needs to get that belt back from Pettis.
Bendo was almost left with no choice. He's so far back from a title shot after the RDA KO and even though most of us scored a decision victory over Cowboy in the rubber match, Henderson's resume shows two consecutive losses (having lost three of his last five fights). Plus 155 has been historically deep in recent years, just like WW is currently with all the heavy-hitters hopeful of filling GSP's shoes.

Finally got around to listening to the GSP interview with Ariel

GSP said his knee almost feels 100% and said he has made progressions in his knee that he can make movements he hadn't previously been able to do

GSP sounded like he wants to fight again and said he's been getting the itch more and more

Dana offered him a fight in April with Anderson before the positive test

GSP said he's still busy with other projects

She's not really thrilled

But we got kids. So it's early dinner anyway and we'll be back by the time the later fights on the main card go down so the sitter can bounce.

I just said that cause I cracked a joke and said "we need to be back in time for the fights" and got the

She actually watches with me pretty often. Moreso the bigger fights with guys she's seen over the years (Anderson vs. Diaz etc.).

Tonight would just be hours of "who are these guys?".

Vincent Van Goat Vincent Van Goat , who would you like to see GSP fight in his return bout? I don't think we've seen the last of Rush in the octagon, although a tuneup is extremely necessary with his last fight coming in November of 2013. Can't throw GSP to the wolves after the long layoff and tearing both ACL's within a few years time. I'm thinking a top-12 or top-15 guy before even considering a Lawler fight or Hendricks rematch.

I wonder if Rory winning the 170 strap would encourage Rush to remain retired. Given the Tristar ties and Firas Zihabi obviously.

Back to Fight Night 60, Makovsky and Elliott is a sneakily good fight on the prelims. Although Elliott has lost three of his last five fights, those losses came against Dodson, Bagautinov, and Benavidez. He fights like a mad man at times which creates entertainment and exciting results. Makovsky is a Marcelo Garcia guy and a good wrestler. Won four in a row before a UD loss to Formiga. My prediction is Makovsky sweeps on the cards for a 30-27 unanimous decision.

Also on the prelims, Efrain Escudero was the last guy to knockout Cole Miller. We all know Miller has great jiu-jitsu, but Max Holloway earned my respect in Baltimore for the Fili fight. Had it even going into Round 3 and Max wanted it more, secured the submission despite feeling under the weather. Took Conor the distance, even if we mention McGregor tearing his ACL during the fight. Impressive feat given Conor's movement and ability to measure distance. Holloway KO'ed his last two opponents, but Miller is a better overall fighter than Collard or Corassani. I'm taking Max in another decision, 29-28.

Prazeres and Lee both have good jiu-jitsu, which I love seeing. Lee a solid wrestler, his only career loss coming against Iaquinta. Prazeres is far more experienced, 29-28 decision in my estimation.

Kelly is like a 4-time Olympic judoka and I'm fairly confident he taps Walsh with a RNC in R2.

I want a Kunimoto submission victory perhaps by arm-triangle choke, but head says Magny decision. Japanese fighters don't appear to receive a lot of love from judges on the scorecards. Magny had a monster 2014 that saved his career, won five fights that would make Cowboy proud.

Valentine's Day fights! :smokin

The wife is thrilled!

Honestly, the fight I'm most excited for this entire month is next week. Barboza/Johnson.

MJ was on tear before his layoff. I can see him TKO'n Barboza.

I'm hoping for a wheel kick decapitation from Edson though.

Adding Barboza to a list of wins over J-Lau, Tibau, and Melvin is impressive at 155. Let's not forget Johnson also owns victories over Ferguson and Castillo in the UFC.

The bout I'm looking forward to most on FN 61 is Khabilov vs. Martins. Khabilov was on a tear before Bendo derailed him, first time being finished in his career. Let's see how the dangerous Russian responds. With wins over Medeiros and Masvidal, Rustam has my attention moving forward.

Martins rebounded nicely to knockout Puig after suffering the nasty head kick from Cowboy. But Khabilov is a different animal. BJJ black belt with strong judo. His wife sacrificed a lot for Adriano's career, as many fighters' wives do.

Ultimately picking Khabilov to win, but don't see him knocking out or submitting Martins.

hope they dont NC this, guy was done
Illegal knee technically by definition. Alers' right hand was clearly downed on the mat.

Skelly is known for wrestling and grappling, but Bang vastly improved his boxing. Shoddy fight IQ from Skelly. Was landing powerful overhand rights at will on Alers, yet decided to shoot for takedowns midway through R2.

Alers, another fighter known for his grappling, needs major work on his stand-up defense. No movement whatsoever, stays square in front of his opponent with the left hand far too low.

Right to the body is open all day for Bendo and he's exploiting that. That's gonna kill Thatch's movement and cardio if it reaches the championship rounds.

nice takedown by thatch

champ...sort of agree. he's going to wear down quick in the next couple rounds if he cant finish bendo

Thatch won R2 stringing together nice combinations in a 90-second flurry to finish the round. Fight even for me through two.

Bendo clearly won R3. Started the round popping the jab. Worked hard for the takedown. Thatch breathing heavy, mouth wide open sucking in air.

Damb Benson looking pretty good..outside those two times he got thrown down he doing better than I expected.
