WME won't be able to do sh*t with the majority of the UFC roster. Dana and Lorenzo are selling wolf tickets when they say this and the majority of fighters are just that stupid that they believe it.
 
While that is true, I think they can do more than the Zuffa regime did. With the Cody's, or a guy like Aljamain (if he starts winning again) etc.

Cody is not marketable at all, personality wise he's like a tatted up version of Henry Cejudo.

Aljamain on the other hand could be a star if they backed him a little bit.

Cody has some marketability.

I just used both as examples of guys that a company like WME could take further than Zuffa did.

Want Al-jo back on track. I'm a fan.
 
Cody's almost there, just needs to be polished some. His first shoot on Ariel a few weeks back was cool, it had its moments. He's not a natural like Chael or McGregor, but like someone said, with WME involved, wouldn't be surprised to see him in Fast 9 or XXX 4 in 3 years.
 
Yep. There's a few dudes that can go that route.

Zuffa wasn't built for that.

We have CM Punk fighting a guy named Mickey Gall on a PPV this weekend. That's what Zuffa does. Get Brock. Put James Toney in with Randy.

If WME helps guys like Rockhold, Woodley (who's already acting), Cody, Al-Jo, Cain, and whoever else blow up a bit, that would help the sport/brand expand. Not necessarily for the better per say, but expand nonetheless.

I think that's the endgame here. Outside of Pettis being on a Wheaties box, Ronda do a few bits here and there, GSP in Winter Soldier after he retired, there haven't been THAT many mainstream marketing looks it seems.

Cody is definitely marketable. Shoot, he's pretty much talking his way to a title shot which quite frankly he doesn't deserve.

Any guy who consistently finishes fights is marketable
 
cody always sounds like an idiot. I hope Cruz embarrasses him. I liked him before since he ko's people but his trash talk is so remedial. I wish his fight with Wolverine Lineker actually happened so Lineker would've put him to sleep.

I'm not trying to be a downer at all, just stating facts regarding appearance while making weight.

Punk's face in the pic posted looks a lot better than I thought it would. In all the media so far he's looked overdrawn and drained without cutting weight, so the fact that his face doesn't look like he's on death's doorstep is a good thing.

Yeah I heard him on Ariel's show and he sounded like a dummy.

Because you can't understand a word he says between his lisp and the brain damage and lack of general education. He's still marketable

Codys given other interviews where he's sounded fine and has an edge to him

The same guys who claim fighter z isn't marketable are probably the same guys who complain about him once he starts trying to market himself and talk trash

Complaints about dudes trying to market themselves usually stem from it being unnatural. There are other ways to market yourself and build appeal. Look at Luke Rockhold trying to talk trash, horribly awkward and unnatural. He can still easily be marketed to surfer bros and women though.

Maybe the UFC just needs to push Cody toward hipsters that love beards and throat tats?

nah. he's the 145 champ until otherwise. would not be surprised if he jumps up to fight the 170 winner regardless of outcome v. alvarez

If Conor does fight at 155 on the NYC card might as well throw Aldo and Holloway on the same card for the FW belt.
 
These are fighters at the end of the day. They're not trained speakers. That's the job of the promoter to make them interesting. If you can't make someone like Cody appealing you're in the wrong business or there's underlying motives there
