The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I think it's premature to say nobody at 170 can give McGregor fits given he hasn't fought a real 170lber. He'll definitely be the favorite against any 155lber at this point. It'll be up to whether or not Khabib can take the shots and get him down in my opinion. I don't see Ferguson being successful in spite of how awkward he is.

I just hope the featherweights and lightweights don't get screwed over by Dana and the UFC brass.

I think there's only 2 scenarios Conor fights at 170 again

1. He fights for the belt
2. He fights GSP

I mean anybody with enough of a chin to handle his shots can make it interesting. Lets not get carried away and forget that Nate Diaz beat him in 2 rounds on 10 days notice and then only lost by 1 round in the rematch.

A dude like Condit in his prime or probably even the current version of Nick Diaz could give him similar problems Nate gave him, possibly worse because of the size difference. Also Wonderboy is taller with a longer reach and that point karate style, he could control the distance on Conor and give him fits probably. Woodley could KO him but also get KOed if he backs against the fence and stands stationary like he dide vs. Wonderboy. He wouldn't be dominant at 170 by any means, it's more about who he gets matched up with.

But just off the fact that people are seriously discussing how he'll fare against fighters 15 lbs above his current weight class says a whole lot, dude is a talent.

At 155 it'll be interesting though. If Khabib grabs him he'll maul him for sure, but if Johnson could hurt Khabib you already know Conor can. It's gonna be who gets who first.

like conor says, he sizes these guys up backstage and knows that none of these fighters can touch him. the guy is only 28 yrs young and he's only getting started. can't think of anyone that he would be an underdog to at 145, 155, or 170.

Yeah, take 170 out of there. That division is full of savages. Division full of guys who have cte and given it to their opponents.

Just watched the ME. That was terribly one sided. I take back what I said that Nate was "falling" to the ground in their second fight.

Connor straight dropping Eddie.

Honestly, it didn't even seem like Connor had to work much. No spinning, high, wheel or leg kicks. A front kick here or there. No varied striking of any kind smh.

Just the jab and the touch of death.

Eddie tried to clinch and a take down in the second.

Honestly, besides Ferguson and Khabib. There's nothing for him in the division.

I'd like to see Eddie fight Nate since he was popping off like Nate was lackluster. And if Connor isn't going to fight soon, pit Ferguson and Khabib.

Rewatched the main event

You're kidding yourself if you say Conor doesn't utilize that reach. I stand corrected, Eddie did get caught coming forward twice (the first and last knockdown) on counters. Eddie wasn't being technical at all

The reason Eddie looked so sloppy on those entries is because of Conor's distance. Conor used his reach all fight long kept Eddie at bay, made Eddie come in wild at times

I think we get caught up in the Nate fights because at 145 he also utilized his reach, though he always was willing to exchange

And not only does Conor have the reach advantage but he uses it masterfully.

Pettis had a slight height/reach advantage over Eddie and was saw what Eddie could do to him.

It was said time and time during the co main event that Wonderboys point karate background allows him to move in and out with ease. Well that works for Conor and his blade like, karate stance.

Woodley is a class guy for letting them use his belt. Should have made jj give hers lol

It was nice to hear woodley apologize to wonderboy and hear him speak to the character of wonderboy. Seems like Thompson is a legit good person according to woodley

Woodley is a stand up guy himself it's sad everyone hates him

@RustyShackleford must be sick to his stomach that Conor is forever cemented as one of the greatest of all time

Hopped right over BJ Penn and Couture as a legend in MMA

Cold blooded

Khabib was not invited to the press conference (though it seems not many fighters were) and he says nobody from the UFC brass talked to him after his fight

It's apparent the UFC doesn't care about khabib and they probably don't care about ferg either

Leads me to believe Conor's next fight will either be against Nate or woodley. Yet another money fight

I don't care what Dana says lol. If Conor wants to fight Woodley next, that fight will happen

I'm guessing they make Ferg vs Khabib while Conor takes time off for his child and his negotiations for more power/pay

Should they make Conor vs Woodley, they'll also most likely make Maia vs Wonderboy

At some point Cowboy will be right there for the WW title as well...

I don't think Conor cares to fight Woodley right now tbh

He's more worried about getting that UFC ownership right now

And for the UFC it's in their best interest to do the rematch business wise

Tyron is an idiot for going away from his wrestling and going for the guillotine

He dominated Wonderboy on the mat and Wonderboy was probably 1 more clean should from being sleep

We will see. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if that was the next fight he takes

Someone brought up a good point in that the UFC will be hurting for true money fights, especially if Ronda retires or loses

Therefore you have to think Nate or Woodley are the fights to make

Looking back on how the women's bantamweights have played out. I think Dana might reject not doing the Holm/Tate immediate rematch.

There are so many rematches that were intriguing that we won't get to see because of Amanda Nunes

And I think she's going to completely put Hacist Honda's lights out
