The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Only time I hate Rogan is when he claims everything is the xxx in UFC history. He's like Michael Cole.

I do like how he commentates on the actual mechanics and technique of the fight though.

Frank Mir and Brian Stann as color analysts>>>>

Play by play I'm a fan of Mauro

Rogan man, so many things counter-culture wise, he's spot on.

But at the same time he says SO many cringeworthy things as a UFC company guy/commentator.

IDK. I couldn't hang out with the guy. He'd be cool for about an hour or so before he probably gets unbearably annoying.

I love the cringeworthyness of both rogan and Goldberg.

I still can't stop laughing at how Goldberg had to say during the Holm vs Honda fight that it takes a lot of energy to be a rockstar  while Hondas wig was getting pushed back

Rogan is that homie you use to match a blunt with and leave as SOON as the blunt is over.

 Not trying to stick around for a moment longer than I need to. In fact the whole time I'm smoking I'm probably on my phone.

According to Aldo :

"I don’t know if it’s an immediate rematch or not. We’re talking. Conor wants to move up, he can’t make the weight anymore. Maybe he fights (at lightweight). The next fight can be a title fight with Frankie Edgar."

Would be hilarious if Frankie fights Aldo again and gets washed

:rolleyes Don't even want to see Aldo vs Frankie for a vacated title if that's what Aldo talmbout.

Aldo might as well retire with that talk, real ****.

Man this is some BS. Conor should fight Frankie, period. You want to take that strap with you? Alright, finish clearing the division. That means beating Frankie.

I love Aldo and I feel for him that he lost, especially in that manner. But what else does Frankie have to do to get that title shot? He's done every single thing man.

Straight up. ***** honestly getting me heated right now. I know Frankie can beat this guy. I know it.

You lose? Back of the line man. This ain't the WWE where there's an automatic rematch clause in every contract.

 Okay, I'll take that as you conceding. It's okay, you don't have to admit you're wrong. You threw out the term "octagon control" and demonstrated that you didn't know what it meant.

Good for u, I don't argue wit delusional ppl that live in their own world.

Diaz has no right to be mad bout that, ur the 3rd fight not even co main and u got the beating from God ur last fight

And if conor goes up and don't fight Frankie, we all know why, hell Frankie should move back up and whoop him at 55

yeah, def thought benson won the 3rd fight as well....

RDA getting blasted with accusations.....until/if he gets caught you cant really say anything, just risk putting yourself out there.

I attribute a big part his success to rafael, what he had been able to to with RDA and then werdum.....dont think roids give you that strategy and technique these doods is fighting with right now.

Werdums standup game was ronda's before he clicked up with rafael....now he out here looking like a totally different fighter, same with RDA.

Now if he did come back with dirty piss, would i be suprised....not at all....this is the UFC fellas.

**** it, just watch em fight....

I think dropping x beating cerrone before is going to give RDA that edge and confidence to do it again...

Random question: Anybody train BJJ or MMA for that matter?

I'm seriously considering signing up for some classes. I've always been intrigued by the technique involved and whatnot. Feel like it would be dope ot leanr

i've been out of the game for a couple years now, but i was in bjj and muay thai for about 8 years. trained with jongsanan and ganyao at fairtex SF(shout out to my ninja dino pagtakhan who is still knocking dudes blocks off), and i did BJJ all over the place due to moving. ralph gracie/kurt osiander, carlos sapao, marco nascimento, charles gracie, etc. i got to train with the legendary gordo and rafael dos anjos(pre roids) for a little, too.

you should do it. its awesome. IMO single styles > MMA for casual training. personally, i enjoy the history, the tradition, etc.

btw don't be afraid to deviate from the main 4 styles(MT, bjj, boxing, wrestling). I did kyokushin karate(nothing like the fugazi karate we all grew up doing) for a bit, and I enjoyed that more than muay thai. im surprised more MMA fighters don't come from kyokushin backgrounds. they are gluttons for punishment.

I think I might do it man. The gym near me does monthly memberships and you have access to all their classes. They do BJJ, Muay Thai, kickboxing and Muay Thai. I would definitely focus on BJJ or Muay Thai.

Did you compete? Or was it solely for personal use?

I like the workout aspect of it. I always though fighters and swimmers were the best athletes on the planet
i did some muay thai smokers(kind of like amateur matches) and BJJ tournaments, but nothing crazy.

BTW i recommend focusing on one style to start off. BJJ can get crazy overwhelming at the start. it is such a nuanced, intricate and physically-demanding sport. you'll spend the first few weeks just getting in shape so you can train, and then you'll spend the following weeks being frustrated from a combo of getting tapped out by girls and not being able incorporate anything you guys drilled in class in rolling.

I provided a link that outlined the definition of octagon control and it fell right in line with what I was talking about when I spoke about dictating pace, where the fight is taking place, who is implementing their style/game-plan and who is forcing their opponent to follow suit.

You're the one being delusional or at the very least being stubborn. You quoted me stating an OPINION and got all bent out shape. And to top it all off you threw out the term octagon control without really understanding what it meant and the factors that go into it.

The very factors I was talking about from the outset of my argument.

If you can't be a gracious loser in a debate then just stop quoting me son. You were proven wrong at every turn. Deal with it.

You're welcome to outline where I was wrong. You won't because well, you can't.

Sign me up for the "has trained" crowd.

Trained Muay Thai for 6 years through my last 3 years of HS and 3 after. Best choice I ever made as a teen besides sticking to the guitar.

I second everything he said above ^^ pick one of the arts, rather than the "MMA" piece. If you can find an appreciation and interest in the arts themselves, you'll get really sharp at them. :smokin

Sawadeekahp for my Nak Muays in here.
