The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

really?  he was in god mode for 3 minutes against benson?

there was nothing god mode-ish about the diaz fight, entirely predictable

only the pettis fight seems like god-mode, cause we've never seen anybody do that to pettis before..............

this bobby green probably tells himself "you know, im sure if i were on that stuff too id be getting a title shot..."

i just dont like how we're "accusing" some people of being on the stuff but not others, especially brazilians

3 mins before he finished him?? Probably not right.

Nate and Pettis fights were total dominations.

He's obviously a great fighter. Technically he is great everywhere but when i consider his age and the losses he had earlier in his career the doubts start creeping in.

He lost to 3 dudes who now fight at 145. He had lost 5 UFC fights before winning the title. That's not your typical run towards the belt.

^^^You make a great point based on current champion trends. Most of the guys right now are undefeated or have a loss or two. But that's not a good indicator since we can look at Lawler's come back the last few years (unless we're throwing the same claims at him too).

As far as his striking goes, as it was mentioned, he got the same striking coach Werdum got. They both were considered BJJ guys prior to their current ascent and have developed into well rounded fighters. We'll see when Cain fights Werdum.

Or they could both be drinking from the same fountain of youth...

Yeah Robbie is def another outlier. Although he did take a lot of his losses at middleweight.

Not saying it's out of the realm of possibility to just improve your skills to championship level but when you see certain displays dominance over elite competition it makes you wonder. The pace and pressure he put on Pettis for 5 rounds with a hurt knee was stunning.

And if Werdum beats Cain like RDS beat Pettis then 1000% he's on gear

If Werdum outclasses the Energizer Bunny then I'd really have the "water" analyzed at King's MMA. Rafael Cordeiro turning RDA and Werdum into elite strikers. On their web site, it lists Machida as a team member. He got rag dolled by Rockhold so I just don't know.

the guy might be going to prison briefly from what i am hearing.
dana and the ufc have given him plenty of opportunities to clean up his act. he has to take care of his life first
i'm not sure what his net worth is like, but from my guess, i do not think money is a issue with him which will allow him to step away for an extended period

If he has serious problems (which it seems that he does), being willing to step away from the sport to clean himself up is definitely a step in the right direction. Even though it sucks for fans because the guy is amazing in the octagon

If he's out of jail in a year or two he'll be back. Unless he is a true druggie and can't keep that in check

No matter what I've already accepted that I probably saw the best of JJ. At this point with all that's going on and his apparent addiction, I just don't think he'll ever get back to this peak

I doubt he spends much time in jail if any time at all. Supposedly he has some high profiled lawyer, so he'll probably end up pleading out to a lesser charge and he'll reach a settlement with the woman he hit.

did Greg Jackson do anything to try and help Jones on his drug and person issues? I feel as his coach he could have got involved to help.

I'm sure he tried. Jones has got to be his biggest cheque and draw to the gym.

dont think jon see's any jail time.

Although as bad as it seems, running away was probably the best thing for HIS situation. Not saying it was the RIGHT thing to do.

he prolly wont be back in the octagon until 2016, gotta let this stuff blow over....as with time all things do.

Im thinking werdum has a legit shot at cain, curious to see how cain looks after the long layoff.

Havent seen much of Maskadi? He pose any threat to Cowboy???

I think Rumble going to stop DC, if he cant DC could drown him deep in the 4th or 5th. We'll see

Very little. He's got decent striking but he's undersized and Cerrone is better everywhere.

Don't know if it was mentioned in here, but right as I was hoping Masvidal would step in against Cerrone.....

He was announcing his move to WelterWeight.

I really wish I had my reaction to Werdum making Fedor tap.

Would easily have 10M views on YouTube,

The moving up in weight is interesting. He doesn't seem like a guy who would struggle with the cut to 155.

That's a Mayweather style mansion but yet Connor makes like 1/1000th of the money Mayweather makes. Something is not adding up there. Even as a rental I'm sure it's steep.

Saw quite a few fighters complaining about the new Reebok deal. Never knew that fighters made so much money from sponsors. Schaub said he made 6 figures in sponsorship money in each of his last 6 fights and now he'll top out at $10,000 or $15,000.

UFC doing everything they can to alienate their fighters. I mean, they basically real life trolling them and their paper

At some point enough is enough, there's got to be some sort of balancing dynamic here

Overall UFC basically digging their own grave
