This kinda works out for Aldo. If I'm him, I have people in my gym feeding fake stories to the media saying he's not fighting so McGregor starts focusing more on his wrestling and preparing for Mendes.

There's nothing good about going into a fight where your opponent knows you have a bruised rib. Might as well put a bullseye on Aldo's ribcage

Glad to hear the fight is back on. Wonder if they will play this up in the upcoming promos.
Looking forward to the Machida-Romero fight this weekend. While Machida got that work last time out I can see him winning this matchup with a KO if he's able to counter Romero who hasn't really beat anyone elite and is coming back from injury.
Amazing how they haven't really tried to cross promote the Lawler-McDonald fight. Really anticipating that one. Got Rory this time. Also don't want to see Lawler-Hendricks 3 so soon either lol.

Looks like no MMA in NY.
Anyone else see anything about McGregor having a bum knee that could require surgery after 189. From what I saw on Twitter, McGregor hurt his knee a few months ago grappling, and he's been getting stem cell injections or something the past few months for it. And its the same knee he tore up before.

As long as Aldo can walk and the commission medically clears him he's gonna fight. Aldo is always complaining about fighter pay. No way he gives up his biggest pay day to wait and fight in October or whenever, after the Reebok deal kicks in and he's getting a lot less from sponsors.

I think it's a dumb move for him to fight. His security is in being the champ, that's why he can talk about unions and fighter pay and all that. He goes into this fight injured and loses to Connor, he loses alot of leverage.

Dumb, how? UFC pays him an arm and a leg to fight, he loses, and this sets up an even bigger rematch. Win-win-win for all three parties involved.

I don't think going into a fight injured and getting your *** whipped is ever a win.
But more than that, Aldo has been real vocal about UFC fighter pay being low, the reebok deal being trash, and he's publicly stated that they need a union. He's getting away with it now because he's the champ and he's been undefeated since like 06. Let him get his *** whipped by Conor tho, a dude that's been hyped to death as the next thing btw, the guy even has his own six part series of Fox Sports, and things could easily change. The UFC has **** on plenty of high level fighters that got on their bad side before (Couture, Tito, Frank Shamrock, Fitch etc.), and if he loses that belt to his replacement, who's possibly more popular with the casual fans than he is right now, not a good look at all. He might get the rematch, and he should, but he still has no leverage if he loses so it's whatever the UFC wants to do.
AND he can get the same money a month or two from now when he's healthy, people still want to see the fight. If I was his manager I'd be telling him to chill unless he's confident he can go in there and fight at his highest level. Hopefully he can.
