The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

I thought JCMojica24 JCMojica24 's post was a prediction. Wow. Machida vs weidman. Let's see if weidman can check head kicks that is almost at the speed of sound.

Did vitor made a statement or announcement about what he's going to do now?

“The Nevada State Athletic Commission recently altered its policy and no longer will permit testosterone use exemptions, and will not permit a TRT program. As other jurisdictions may follow suit, I am going to drop my TRT program and compete in MMA without it. Given the time constraints involved between now and my proposed next bout in May, I have determined not to apply for a license to fight in Nevada at this time.”

Vitor's win streak is definitely cheapened in my mind if it wasn't before. Happy as heck that that nonsense is for the most part, out of the sport. In other state commissions TRT is still allowed and the UFC can't really do anything about it.

Good for the sport but sucks as a fan. Vitor's already fragile rep is done.

There's always a way around it though. I think he and other TRT users will end up doing other PED's instead.

If your livelihood is at stake is probably worth the risk rather than having a drop off in performance and decreasing your ability to earn $$$.

yes the UFC can, UFC is its own governing body. The UFC has the power to deem what is and isn't allowed in the octagon.

The question here is whether the UFC will ban TRT use outright.

Belfort released a new statement basically saying he was forced out of the Weidman fight. And he was told that he'll get a title shot against the winner of Weidman/Machida.

Google translation of his statement:
Vitor Belfort withdrew NOT FIGHT WAS REQUIRED TO QUIT. " "Never give up the fight at UFC 173 and never said that. Therefore, all information published in any medium of communication announcing this is not true.was announced to I'll be "giving up TRT "and not" giving up the fight "to continue my dream of fighting. UFC decided to put another opponent in my place because I do not have the required time to adapt myself to the new rules of the NSAC. According to the UFC, will face the winner of Weidman vs. Lyotto within the new regulations all Athletic Commissions. sorry that this happened, and I appreciate the strength and understanding of all the fans, sponsors, and UFC's own athletic commissions. " Vitor Belfort
And the Brazilian Commission announced that they're gonna follow NV and ban all TRT exemptions. The last fighter that will be granted an exemption is Hendo.

Regarding UFC saying they're not allowing TRT, that only applies to places where UFC does its own testing. So no TRT in UK, Japan, China, Abu Dhabi, and Australia. Theoretically a fighter could still use TRT in NJ and other places that haven't banned it yet.

From Dana's statement you would think they would. It seemed like the reports were explaining that the UFC has already banned trt in places with no governing bodies. So it seems like the UFC would ban it outright if they could. However articles reported that the UFC was just encouraging other commissions to follow Vegas' ruling

good post

Hendo is screwed against Shogun with no TRT. :smh:

Hendo is my guy, so I'm biased but:

He is getting the last TUE exemption from the Brazilian commission. They followed suit and banned it today. I don't think he should have gotten it, but I'm not going to argue against Hendo.

He wasn't on TRT for his fight at 161 against Rashad. I thought he won that fight and so did at least one judge...

Predictions on Machida/Weidman? Weidman is the bigger stronger more physical guy. If Machida can avoid the takedowns, I can see him getting the decision win. I'm also a bit worried about Machida's cardio. He was visibly gassed with Mousasi, but that might be b/c of his injured foot during the fight. Also, this fight with Weidman kind of reminds me of his fight at UFC 98 with Rashad. Both were undefeated strong wrestler with KO power, coming off wins against legends (Liddell and Anderson). and Lyoto replacing a fighter for the title fight (Rampage and now Vitor)

I always liked Hendo and will always be a fan of him since he H-Bombed Bisping but I agree that he shouldn't have gotten a TUE for TRT. If you really need TRT for medical reasons you basically need it all of the time. Its not something that you can decide you need this month but not the next month. But I'm looking to see how Belfort, Sonnen, etc look in fights now that they can't use it.

For this one, I think Machida is going to be on is bike more than ever circling away to avoid takedowns.

Weidman is a tank though, he gets Lyoto down and works a TKO. Could be wishful thinking.

Chael shooting for that double

War Wand!! The most genuine and coolest fighter there is. I've met hundreds of these guys and there is no fighter who loves his fans more than Wand. Not surprising why he has the biggest and most loyal fanbase. my dog's name is wanderlei so you know im a huuuuge fan lol.

I remmeber that thread on sherdog where we petitioned wand to do his old school wai kru(traditional thai dance done upon entering the ring) after not doing it for many years and the dude actually did it!! love wand.

edit found it. WAR WAND!!!

That confrontation between Rampage and King Mo just now looked scripted as hell. I guess they picked up something from their time in TNA.

So nobody watched the ufc in macau? Haha. Main event saved the entire card. KO of the year candidate courtesy of stun gun.

I would post the gif but I have no idea if that would be against the rules

Next weekend's card should be solid. Can't wait for Gus and Manuwa
