The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

You don't know any Black, Puerto Rican, Mexicans, Filipino folk etc.?

Got so faded from football I didn't even make it to the fights

Just watched. Uriah has had an odd UFC career.

Strange decision on Bendo/Cerrone. Neither guy seemed to do much. Ben seemed more active.

McGregor did as expected. Aldo cheesing was the highlight of the night.

Not sure why they announced Mendes/Lamas officially during this card. One they knew it was McGregor/Aldo, why not do Mendes/Edgar?

I guess it wouldn't be out of the question for 2 McGregor/Aldo fights (it does happen...) at which point maybe Mendes/Lamas winner vs. Frankie.

Funny (ironic) to see Frankie doing the broadcast and watching his title fight disappear. Dude has no personality for TV though

 Word. A majority of the people I kick it with watch boxing. And it's looking to be a good year for boxing but we'll see.

Anyways, I'm still trying to separate my respect for Connor in the ring from some of his corny antics and all the overblown hype he's getting, it's ridiculous. Jumping in Aldo's face right after he pulled a security guard in between them was clown status but whatever, I guess it sells tickets.

I still think Aldo gives him work, Jose has a shorter reach but faster hands and great leg kicks, good wrestling too. Connor won't be able to casually walk him down around the ring, I think it's gonna be a dog fight ala Aldo Mendes 2 and I give Aldo the edge. The only question left is who can take who's power. Jose took shots from Chad Mendes that woulda melted most dudes in the division so I think we can rest assured his chin is pretty strong. Connor hasn't been tested yet, and we've yet to see how he reacts when someone brings the fight to him. Should be interesting.

It seems like there is a lot of excitement for boxing with the HW division and the possibility of Mayweather/Paqiou (sp).

I'll reserve judgment until I see the ratings for the FN but I don't see McGregor/Aldo doing massive buys. Jones/Cormier seems like the high water mark.

They really need to do a better job at selling their stars.

And who is Frankie going to fight? Sigh.

I think Conor has a lot of pop in those straights and hooks. He doesn't throw bombs at all, but the precision and timing of his hands are pretty excellent from what we've seen. Aldo's chin is damn sturdy though

The way in which both men find range with their kicks should be fun to watch. Jose has proven to gas, so that is something to watch for if Conor survives later into the fight

Aldo isn't taking the bait.. at least not yet

In the end, how can you really bet against Aldo. Even all of his decision wins have been unanimous. All I know is, I haven't ever been this excited about a FW title fight. Conor's skill set is just so t.v. friendly. His movement, footwork and precision. Not quite sure if I give him as much as a chance as say the Mendes rematch or the Frankie fight, but I'm definitely more excited about this particular matchup

If im Aldo i chop Conor's legs down real quick. He stands wide and his front leg is way out there for the picking. Landing the leg kicks will def affect Conor's movement.

Aldo also has the edge in cardio imo. Yes he gets a lil gassed but we haven't seen Conor go past 2 and he's not having to face pressure or adversity which can gas u much faster. All his fights he's walking them down so its not like his cardio has been tested.

I got Aldo by tko

The Hollaway fight went the distance i think.... Def to the third.

He blew his knee out though so it's hard to guage off that.

I think it will be a gun fight for the most part. with Aldo coming out on top.

Aldo's gassed in multiple fights, his weight cut is getting more and more difficult and his high octane style seems to drain him by the third round

Not sure how Aldo has the edge in cardio at all.. that's his biggest weak point if anything

McGregor tore his ACL against Holloway in the second round (I'd consider that adversity) and was still going hard all the way through the third and final round. So yes, he's gone past 2 rounds

McGregor has faced pressure before as well, when he fought in Ireland. I'm not sure if you watched that card because if you did there's no way you could say that wasn't pressure. That was probably the most energetic crowd ever witnessed in the UFC. The whole country was riding on his shoulders and he didn't wear himself out emotionally nor physically

Conors game is all about movement and putting opponents on their heels.

Will be unteresting to see how he will stand up to Jose Aldo's leg kicks.

Not pressure from the crowd, pressure from a dude that's just as skilled and athletic as you are, and is looking to bring the fight to you and take your head off. Aldo has been facing nothing but the best for the last 5 years. Connor's opposition is nowhere close. So yeah, we have no idea how he'll react when when he's up against a dude who's an elite level talent and isn't even slightly afraid of him.

Well, no, that has been the obvious question with Conor in terms of the competition he's faced. You could say the same the same thing about pretty much every opponent Aldo's faced for the first time. Aldo is a generational talent, anyone you've beaten doesn't really stack up to him

As an aside, I was looking back and saw that Korean Zombie got his title shot by beating Garcia, Hominick and Poirier. Pretty similar to Conor, obviously Frankie deserves it more but I thought it was a similar path to the title

McGregor's stance reminds me a lot of Notre Dames logo. Hands up and feet wide apart. Just feel like Aldo is gonna batter him with leg kicks all night. And I don't get why people are praising his takedown defense now and how easy he was able to get back to his feet against Siver. Siver isn't exactly known for his wrestling and I don't think anyone would say he's a wrestler. But if McGregor can use his range and pinpoint accuracy, check Aldo's kicks, and not get caught up in his own hype and start doing things he's not use to doing, like Sonnen with that stupid spinning back fist, then he can really make it a competitive fight.

Conor knows (everyone knows) what Aldo brings to the table, I highly doubt he's going to just let his legs get wrecked. He will try to adjust accordingly. Conor is so light on his feet, he's not going to keep his lead leg out in front too often. Now will Aldo still be able to kick them? Probably.

Also, anyone who is praising Conor's TDD, that's a joke. Siver aint no damn wrestler

It will be interesting to see if Aldo goes for some take downs

Aldo leg kicked the crap out of a few people, they knew it was coming too but it still happened.

Coker was just talking about wanting to talk to Cro Cop about fighting in Bellator now UFC jumps and signs him.
