The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

This event is comical. kongo had his kanye moment and the interviewer refused to let go of the mic.

McGeary's guard, bruh. Worked four different deep submissions in a 3-minute time frame. Newton doesn't tap though, we learned that against Vassell.

Newton (C) vs. McGeary

Round 2:
19-19. McGeary took R1 due to a ridiculously active guard, and working four or five close submission attempts. R2 to Newton for effective ground and pound, top control much of the round.

Newton's corner is wrong to say McGeary's strength has anything to do with finishing a submission. On the ground, smooth technique > all.

Newton doing a lot of veteran things in a championship fight. Side push kick we've seen from Bones and Bendo to measure distance. Covering the mouth in top position to restrict McGeary's breathing and wear down his cardio.

Minus a couple kicks, McGeary hesitant to throw his hands.

Round 3:
To McGeary, 29-28 in his favor going into R4.

Although Newton had top position and side control for a good portion of the round, McGeary won this round with his boxing in the first two minutes. Short left landed clean, plus two sharp rights.

Newton isn't listening to his corner to stand the fight up. He's getting worked on the ground, his ground and pound rendered useless thus far.

McGeary is super, super active off his back. Constantly looking for an armbar, kimura, inverted triangle, etc.

Two things I'd like to see Newton do in the championship rounds. One, left to the body is open for Newton as well as the left body or high kick. Second, leg kicks on McGeary's lead leg if there's an opening.

Round 4:
38-38. R4 went to Newton. Takedown, advanced to half-guard. Also landed a right into a spinning back fist that missed.

Round 5:
Newton starts with knee to the body. Effortless trip to secure the takedown. Something for McGeary to work on moving forward, takedown defense.

McGeary armbar attempt, Newton rises and slams McGeary down to break the submission.

Newton should stay here in side control. Work short, quick elbows.

More top position for Newton, although I don't love him in McGeary's open guard. Faced tons of danger.

Newton wins the fifth round with stifling top pressure. 48-47.

Judges rewarded McGeary's highly active guard. He showed a variety of submissions that were all fairly deep. Additionally the judges did not appreciate Newton's top position because his ground and pound did not leave a physical lasting impression.

Very possible McGeary/Newton will be FOTY for Bellator in 2015.

Emmanuel newton was too little too late hen it seemed like he con trolled that fight. Man he kept sliding out of those triangles dude was a great champion

Defoe sighting :nerd:

Wanted McGeary to win. Scored it for Newton.

Everytime I see Newton fight, for some reason, I think he's going to lose, and he doesn't (in my eyes).

Dude is awkward as hell but all due respect.

Hopefully they fight again. Who else is out there at 205 in Bellator.

Newton's beaten Mo twice. He need to calm down.

Ha, yeah I was like everyone wearing those ugly mitsubishi shirts. They flourishing though.

If I was a fighter i'd want sponsorships from Jesus Didn't Tap and Condom Depot.

Watching post fight interview, my God, Cyborg looks and sounds like Diego Brandao

She said she was at 165-170 in the cage last night
