The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

A few things, I really hate that Edgar is going to waste a fight on Penn. There is absolutely zero reason for that fight to happen at this point. None. If Edgar wins, it proves nothing and shouldn't move him up the rankings. If he loses, well, that would look pretty bad. Also, I'd sneak Dennis Siver in there, most likely over Lil Heathen.
I agree that its a wasted fight for Frankie but say Frankie beats BJ and then faces Guida, Lentz, or Stephens afterwards and wins he'll be catapulted into title talk again. When it comes to popular fighters like Frankie all you have to do is win against anyone and they'll get a title shot.

And on Silva, starting to think he may retire. His son gave an interview saying that he hopes his dad retires. From everything that a lot of people have said, family is huge to Silva and if his son and the rest of his family wants to him hang it up, I think he will.
“All respect for Chris (Weidman) to go out there and fight like a champion. Congratulations, Chris. It’s your turn to be a legend. All the enemies are celebrating Silva and do not come to see me, is not my fault. But I want to see you do what he does. I hope he retires and go home because I’m tired of watching my father train every day, be gone for two or three months … and a broken leg happens … And as always you are my champion father. And once again, good job Chris.”

Frankie should be fighting Money, Cub, or Diamond. Even Koch is a better option.

Accidental snub on Koch. I'd place him at 8 over Elkins.

At this point they are just cashing in on Penn's name. But I agree, Frankie really only has to have two wins and he's right back in the picture. Might as well use Penn's name to draw ratings and it's a bonus if Penn puts out a decent effort.

Featherweight is loaded. Seems like all of the top guys have fought a who's who

I'm actually surprised that he's out of the hospital and with a smile on his face. After seeing that injury, I expected him to still be in the hospital, with a cast and pins sticking out of it holding everything in place with him all drugged up. It really shows how far medicine has come.

Just to continue Champ's lists, here's my Lightweight top 15. Most of the divisions have a pretty clear 10 guys, but ranking them can be a bit of a challenge and is up for debate.

15. Rustam Khabilov

14. Bobby Green

13. Jim Miller

12. Edson Barboza

11. Donald Cerrone

10. Michael Chandler

9. Khabib Nurmagomedov

7. Rafael Dos Anjos

6. Nate Diaz

5. Josh Thomson

4. TJ Grant

3. Gilbert Melendez

2. Benson Henderson

1. Anthony Pettis

I'd probably swap Green and Barboza and it's hard to say where the Bellator guys would fit in but the rest is pretty much on point.

Michael Johnson is campagining for a match with Nate Diaz.

Also Jaime Varner has replaced bobby green for UFC 169

Still have yet to see the injury. I was watching the fight that night, but luckily, all I saw was him fall and the reaction... I didn't want to look.
I couldn't find it anywhere, but I thought I heard that he broke his femur.. Was that true? I can't under stand how it could've been since it is the upper part of the leg. I had my femur broken when I was 1, so luckily I don't remember. I'm surprised this is the first time I've seen a leg broken during a fi

Tibia fracture, I believe.

That makes a whole lot more sense.
Hopefully this was a sign for him to hang em up. After these last two fights and the fact that there is really nothing left for him to accomplish in the ring.

He's desperate to return to training. 6 months for the healing process. I'm sure an additional 3-6 months to get back in the swing of training, preparing the body, readying the mind.

Looking back, my 135 Honorable Mention may go to Kyung Ho Kang instead. Judged unfairly, Asian fighters get shafted quite often. I believe he beat Caceres and Chico.

Hioki is another example. Lost three decisions in a row. I know he beat Guida in my book.

Champ, what's your opinion on chandler and Alvarez?

I still have nick Diaz in my top 10 as well
I've been going strictly UFC fighters. Would be fun to do all of MMA including Bellator and other organizations.

I love Eddie's boxing. Two wars with Chandler. Redemption against Aoki. He's coming over to UFC surely once the promotional battle ends. I'd rank him as high as 4 or 5. Khabib's wrestling is superior, receiving a stiff test in Gil. He's a slight favorite but I'm picking Gil to win.

Chandler's wrestling is obviously elite. His stand-up is getting better and better. Has the strength and KO power in his hands. I'd rank him slightly lower than Eddie. 6 or 7 range.

Shin bone bruh. His leg looked like a hockey stick. I wouldn't recommend the view :smh:

I like the MJ vs Nate match up. Johnson is very mobile and has good enough hands to make it interesting.

Nate would have to drop him to hit a sub though cause i don't see any grappling being involved if that fight happened.
