The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Are we still getting Condit v Lawler this year? All the reports were saying it was supposed to main event 194 in Calgary. But now Dana is talking about doing 194 in Dallas with Aldo/McGregor and RouseyTate 3.

I feel like things are very fluid. Probably going to let things settle for a bit before he makes things official. He's all over the place with some of these matchups

Not to mention now he's apparently saying Werdum and Cain will fight in 2016

There are lot of fighters and dates up in the air right now

A lot of fighters wanna fight before 2015 is over. But yet they have Mighty Mouse v Dodson main eventing 191.

So many matchups all over different divisions. Damn it's going to be an undertaking for matchmakers
Anyone got an update on Stipe?
Lots of HW's are up in the air right now, first Dana said Stipe or AA would get a title shot. Now he's saying Cain will get it in 2016. Very confusing

Cain v Werdum makes sense if its headlining another card in Mexico or if its on a Aldo/McGregor card in Dallas.

There's no way they do another Cain in Mexico card. That's the whole reason he's getting a rematch, because of the "elevation" and that Cain was struggling with it

I feel like there's no rush on the Ronda vs Cyborg match. Letting everything settle for a day, this is the perfect set up. Let Ronda go out and tap Tate one last time while Cyborg cuts to 135 or 140 in her next title defense. After both Ronda and Cyborg win, then the true yearning will come for them to meet. If they still don't make that fight it'll be a real shame IMO

Elevation had an impact but if UFC was going back to Mexico for another ppv, Cain would headline. He's the big seller for them and they really want that Mexico market. But was saying a rematch between him and Werdum makes business sense in Mexico or Dallas because Cain has a big following in Mexico and Dallas because of its large Mexican population.

If they do a show in Cowboy stadium they're gonna need all the help they can get to sell that place out. Plus they're not gonna have the help of the casino buying up large chunks of tickets that they give to high rollers.

I think they would send Cain back to Mexico no problem but just not this soon right after they were already there and they had fighters complaining about the elevation

That would be like banging into the same brick wall again

But back to the main point, it looks like they're gonna square off again in 2016 from what Dana said. I think the logical choice would be the New Year's card or the Super Bowl card

It's a brutal life, ultimately these dudes from PRIDE pretty much sacrificed their lives for the sport. Real life warriors for sure because they would do it all over again if given the chance. Fighting this long because they know nothing else

The new generation IMO will not last like this. GSP started it but guys even younger than him I see leaving the sport before it's too late. It's a different mindset I get from them..

Shogun has been fighting since he was like 19. That's 14 years in mma. Crazy. His glory days in Pride were special. You look back and see how many people had awesome careers in that organization. Surprised rampage is still around fighting. The damage he took from Shogun and wand in Pride were vicious.

Palhares might get stripped of the belt and suspended

Dude is a weirdo. It's like a weird fetish to him to hold on to subs

They should've went to Mexico ahead of time. Javier Mendez said he told/begged Cain to go to Mexico earlier to get adjusted but he didn't listen. Even Werdum trained in Mexico for a month or more before when he ended up fighting Hunt after Cain got hurt.

With Palhares I think Shields is more upset with the eye gouges. He kept doing it over and over and Mazzagatti didn't really do **** about it. Didn't Bellator say something about new gloves that would prevent eye pokes and gouging, and they would share them with UFC, WSOF, etc? I think this was during the Bjorn Rebney era.

I think Palhares had a troubles past....that's what I read awhile back. But this isn't the first time hes done this. He also does this with his training partners. I don't blame Shields. BTW Diaz bros 209 to the Bay!!!!!!!! Yee!

Cain goofed for sure by not going to Mexico ahead of time, Werdum showed his dedication by going super early. Werdum even pointed that out, that Cain didn't do the same thing and it would make a difference

Surprised the Diaz bros didn't enter the cage to try to get at Palhares tbh

Would've rather seen Vitor Bisping 2, Bisping deserves that rematch. When he was still in his middleweight prime all 4 of his losses came from TRT users and/or suspected steroid cheats (vitor, hendo, wanderlei, chael), and chael and wanderlei still barely beat him. If he's drug free he really caught a raw deal.

The commissions need to ban paul harris. Repeated eye gouges and holding on to subs should not be tolerated. The commissions are run by idiots though.
