The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Bones out his damb mind if he thinks he'd beat Cain.

Rip in peace.

If he does indeed fight Cain and beats him go ahead and give him the goat crown. But that wouldn't happen.

Not gonna say that Jones would definitely beat Cain but he has a shot at doing it. Before the DC fight, people kept talking about how DC is the best wrestler in mma and how he gets the better of Cain during training/sparring. Plus Cain's biggest advantage at HW is his speed and stamina. By the 3rd round most HWs are gassed. Against Jones, Cain doesn't have that stamina and speed advantage anymore.

Also - Cain only fights around 235 to begin with, right? Maybe 240?

JBJ comes in at like 225 into fights after cutting down to 205 for weigh in.  Wonder what he'd look like if they fought at a catch weight of 220, forcing Cain to have to cut a little before fight for the first time.

Brock goes like 285 lbs during a fight doesn't he?.

We all know Brock has a hard time eating shots but if he got Jones down there's no way hes getting 285 off of his chest... He'd be eating lunch boxes to the face.

I think Jones could do well against any of those fighters that go ~240 at fight time.  JDS, Arlovski, Cain, Mir types.

Dunno how he'd fair vs monsters like Carwin, Browne and Brock.

Cain is usually 240-250.

Everybody was making a huge deal about the fact that DC trains with Cain day to day but Jones has had Overeem at Jacksons for a while now. He might not be the most durable guy but he must be a mother***** to deal with in training scenarios considering his level of physical strength and his clinch/grappling abilities.

That's true... No putting Reem to sleep during training so he just gets to throw his weight around with no worries.

I don't see JBJ going up to HW without an immediate title shot tho. Superfight or no fight if I'm Jon.

I thought overeem's training partners don't even like him. Surprised Arlovski hasn't put him to sleep in a sparring session yet.

The thing I don't understand is why are we wanting to see Jones vs Cain when Jones still have unfinished business with Gus? As much as i like rumble ... I hope that His wasn't a flue and he wins so he can demand that rematch. I want to see a convincing win by either Jones or Gus before they can move forward. .02 cents

I give JBJ the benefit of the doubt after 8 title defenses that he doesn't "owe" a rematch to anyone.

Hes run through HOF types to get to where hes at.  He can do whatever he wants at this pt IMO.

I'd like to see Jones fight both Gus and Rumble. Which is what makes this fight between the two a gift and a curse.

We all know what Gus did vs. Jones.

But I was impressed with how Rumble fought against Phil Davis and would still like to see he and Jones square off at some point. Win or lose vs. Gustaffson.

Rumble also beat Arlovski in a HW match in WSOF not too long ago.

Subs seem to be his Achilles heel so he'd need to work on those.

One thing I worry about with Rumble is his cardio. Probably has a lot to do with muscles needing more oxygen or whatever it is that Rogan says, but he gasses. Maybe things are different now so interested to see how he looks if the fight with Gus goes into the 4th or 5th round.

I can't recall if he gassed against Davis. That was a full 3 rounds.

I thought he was doing better since he stopped trying to cut so much.

Nah he washed Phil for 3 rounds with hardly any signs of fading. I don't think cardio is an issue for him when he's comfortable.

5 rounds with Gus is a different ball game though.

3 consecutive weeks to round out the month....

GOAT vs mortal

Rumble vs Gus

Silva vs Diaz

:pimp:

maybe .. Maybe not ... Phil Davis Choked out Gus.

Ufc 182 for me....
Showed bones ran threw dc.. Not takin anything from either n wanted dc to win but jones is something else

But felder that guy won me over with his attacks he's crafty n knocked the dude out I like that alot

I have very low confidence in Rumble's cardio. With his crazy cut to WW he was always gassing, especially with all that muscle mass

Now that he's at LHW maybe he gets more bang with his buck in the cardio department. For 5 rounds against Gus or Jones though,

I don't think many people are clamoring for Jones v Cain yet either. Most people know he has unfinished business with Gus

I wouldn't say Cain would destroy Jones by any stretch. Cain is a small HW. Jones is a huge LHW. Jones would destroy Brock standing to whoever asked that

never knew what mma fighters' salaries were. it's a bit surprising to me that they're so low - esp. JBJ not even breaking $1M.
