The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

They'll market it. Just like they did Chael/JBJ (after the Hendo injury then possible Sonnen/Machida match ups).

It just doesn't help that Dana called into question the legitimacy of the injury or that Aldo lost out on $4 mil. Honestly, the UFC looks stupid right now.

They better pray McGregor wins so they can set up the Aldo fight and possibly Edgar.

I don't see him throwing Velazquez, Pettis, Weidman, Cruz, etc for being fragile Nancy's or whatever he believes.

Wowzers at Danas comment about Aldo :smh: dude is a straight scumbag. Aldo is a true professional and hasn't missed weight ever as far as I remember and this dude out here straight throwing his champion under the bus like it's nothing.

In his defense, Aldo has historically had challenges making weight. Some of the criticism regarding some of his performances is levied to possibly being haggard and the cut taking too much of a toll on his performance. Barao was over weight for that rematch with Dillashaw. Both he and Aldo probably need to move up a weight class.

If the injury was legit, then how exactly was he going to cut for the fight with Connor...much less fight?

A lot of folks are going to go up in weight or change their practices/diet. Other folks are going to be on the next level PEDs with the fines/punishments.

The rest who ain't struggling are going to need to figure out how they going to make extra money without being walking billboards.

Like Elite XC betting the house on Kimbo? Lol. That was a terrible vehicle to hedge their bets on, especially because he was a street fighter.

The fix has to be in. No way they'd sick a very competent wrestler against their golden child. But then again, we did get Brock running away to the WWE, the HW title on a 37-year old Werdum, the LW on RDJ...

Challenges making weight and actually NOT making weight are 2 different things though.

Obviously the IV situation would change all that.

But Barao missing weight isn't a factor here. Aldo never fainted and pulled out of a title fight like 2 days before because of a weight cut.

Aldo saying fracture. UFC saying bruise. I don't know who to believe but Dana gon' Dana.

Holy **** at the number of people at weigh ins. Unprecedented at a MMA event,

Conor has taken over the sport.

Hyped.

Reebok tops are trash, but the fight shorts and sweats were pretty clean looking. Going to be nice not to see logos all over place, though it was a great drinking game

Source? I read something with a tweet from florian.

From my perspective, Conor walked by Faber and tapped him on the head. Both guys laughed then Faber put his hands around his stomach and probably made a comment about his weight. Conor didn't like that and they kind of grabbed each other and then it was broken up quick. Started off as playful then turned quick. Faber looked at the camera and laughed as he walked off

The challenge is Aldo, who has a history of having a tough time making weight, would have a hard time cutting with bruised or broken ribs. Hard to move around with that kind of injury. Hard to run. Hard to ride the bike. Hard to move around. Hard to spar.

And there's a video floating around of the altercation. It definitely looks like a work based on how playful they were being.

The weigh ins were more WWE drama. Connor trying to get things popping off. I liked the stare down between Robbie/Rory. I can't wait for that fight.

It went from playful to serious quickly with faber. U could tell the look on his face changed when it was being broken up.

Side note robbie putting his chin on Rory hand then knocking it away lol he's showing he can do whatever he wants

This reebok deal has to be the ****tiest thing to happen in the UFC lol. Brought a whole level of cornball and ugly to the UFC

The deal isn't bad per say. Nike supplies NFL and soon NBA. Reebok has NHL. Majestic has MLB.

The issue is the fighter/sponsor relationship. For those with a hard hustle or recognizable name, they can make significant money on the side. This "deal" changes that. It's obviously a work in progress. It's not any different than the Fox Sports deal which IMO hurt the UFC in the U.S.

Not everyone can be Rhonda Rhousey and star in movies, be a premium Reebok athlete, appear in ESPN skin issues or show up in the WWE.
