The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I didn't hear the post fight interview with Romero but apparently he was referencing the gay marriage thing saying stuff about Jesus and what not

Isn't he from cuba? Would he rather live there again or still live here with the gay people he doesn't want to see get married?

That smaller cage came into play again. Lyoto had nowhere to run

Can't wait to see Souza/Romero, think Souza still has the better chance of the two to dethrone Weidman if Weidman gets by Rockhold whom I think has the best chance in the division to dethrone

I hope they do Romero vs. Moussasi and Jacare vs. somebody else, I dunno Vitor or something. I just don't wanna see those dudes take each other out before they get to fight Weidman or Rockhold for the belt. That's two guaranteed great title fights if they come in confident while still on their win streaks.

That dude trying to hold Romero back when he ran out of the cage

Thiago Santos headkick and the Larkin 2 piece :x :smh:

Current MW Title Picture:

Chris Weidman

1 Luke Rockhold
2 Jacare Souza
3 Vitor Belfort
4 Lyoto Machida
5 Anderson Silva
6 Yoel Romero
7 Gegard Mousasi
8 Tim Kennedy
9 Thales Leites
10 Michael Bisping
11 CB Dollaway
12 Costas Philippou
13 Dan Henderson
14 Robert Whittaker
15 Roan Carneiro

Yoel has to jump up to #4 since he beat Machida, who has lost three out of his last four fights.

Like I said before, it's going to be awhile before Weidman fights Rockhold, so the Romero and Souza have to fight again. I probably wouldn't have them fight each other just yet. Maybe give Souza a fight against Belfort or Machida. Romero has more fresher matchups with Mousasi, a rematch with Kennedy (that last fight was controversial), Belfort, Leites and Bisping.

They really should take Silva out of the rankings since he's suspended.

Souza should fight Leites

Vitor and Machida are now kind of on the edge of retirement. They should fight each other now

Kennedy will probably retire at this point, he seems very upset in general

Kennedy should make his last against Romero. The stool controversy may have played a huge part in Romero winning the fight as Kennedy had him close to dazed going into round whatever.

And Machida hasn't had a lot of luck at MW but he only has 6 losses and can still be a FN main event attraction. If Ken Shamrock can still fight at 51 then Machida has some gas in the tank still. Just don't pit him against top 5 guys unless he starts to win.

Vitor with the Dadbod had a few wins prior to the Weidman fight. He just didn't fight for a long time.

Leites is on a bit of a rebound. Souza, Romero and Leites are decent fodder to feed to the Weidman.

Why Leites??

He's a good fighter but Moose, Vitor, Romero are higher ranked and are bigger names for jacare

He's now on a 8 fight win streak, 5 coming in the UFC

Jacare just beat Mousasi last September. Vitor should have to work his way back up a bit after losing like that to Weidman. Put him against another guy coming off a loss (Machida for instance)

Jacare literally has nobody to fight except Romero or Leites

I'll take Jacare vs. Romero any day of the week

Smaller cage had nothing to do with him grabbing Machida as they both swung, tripping him and elbowing him into oblivion. Machida played his game for the first two rds

If that's what u took from it then I dunno what to say. Trying to discredit others resume cuz hindsight is 20/20
I'm not discrediting anything, I was initially replying to the post where Conor's resume was getting discredited upon getting his title shot

If you compare his resume to Korean Zombie, Ricardo Lamas or even Chad Mendes you would easily see that they are pretty similar

It doesn't take hindsight to recognize that

If you say so, Romero started getting off crazy in the second round. Machida had nowhere to run

Didn't Ariel Helwani have a statistic about TKOs/stoppages in the smaller cage versus bigger cage a few weeks ago? Personally, I think less area is going to affect someone like Machida whose game plan revolves around movement and avoiding strikes.

The MMA Hour talked about the smaller cage!!

Bigger: 30 Feet (48% finish rate)

Smaller: 25 Feet (60% finish rate)

Apparently there's full studies on it...

Ariel is on board with smaller cage, referenced the WEC small cage

Jesus make the cage smaller man. Bigger cage gives dudes too much room to run

Don't care what those studies say, an extra 5 feet don't make a difference

Put the same exact fights on in each cage then if there's a difference I'll concur

I'll take the guys that mendes, lamas, kz fought over Connor minus poirier. Hioki, koch, hominick, Cub were all ranked in top 10 AT THE TIME...

Go for it

Hioki was fighting randoms in Japan to get that inflated ranking

Koch and Hominick were solid, looking at both of their resumes at the time really wasn't that impressive. The FW division was barely getting started at the time in the UFC which also factors into those rankings. Being top 10 during that time didn't mean as much
